Tropical lagoon-style vintage home in historic Mt Dora

We have now completed significant renovations (05/2025), new roof, large addition offering a 4 bedroom, 4 full bathroom. We are now back on Airbnb.

Relax in the most unique home in Mt Dora. Beautiful and fully renovated 1928 craftsman-style bungalow with a very private lagoon-like pool/hot tub lush backyard. Walking distance into downtown Mt Dora.

Our large private fully-fenced backyard with locking gates includes lush landscaping, outdoor landscape lighting, a large/deep lagoon-style heated salt water pool and spa (good for your health).

We have a covered BBQ pool/patio area with smoker/charcoal/gas grill, large backyard fire pit, and bocce ball court. Our fenced/paved sideyard parking area will accommodate 6+ cars.

We also have a separate cozy 1 bed pool/guest house with AC/heating, streaming TV, WIFI, walk-in shower, bath, small kitchen, and beautiful pool side views.

Although most people never leave our resort-style backyard, it's a perfect vacation space and location for families looking for a Florida vacation or senior snowbirds looking to float/relax in our warm saltwater pool/hot tub and sunny weather.

We work online from home with good internet speed that is broadcast throughout the house, patio, pool house.

We stayed at this property during a very special week for our family — my son’s wedding in Mt. Dora. The wedding itself was beautiful, but unfortunately our experience with this property was disappointing.While the outdoor area had potential, the home and pool house did not appear clean upon arrival. There were visible cobwebs, bugs, crumbs, and dirt in open areas throughout the property, not minor issues hidden away as later suggested by the owner. Unfortunately, I ended up cleaning parts of the guest house myself so I could feel comfortable sleeping there.Communication and upkeep were also frustrating. I never received jacuzzi instructions and, when I asked, was told they had already been sent instead of simply resending them. There was no welcome guide or basic house information provided. One set of sheets had a noticeable red stain, and the door to the twin bedroom would not properly close, leaving guests without privacy.Most disappointing, however, was the owner’s response to concerns about the cleanliness. Rather than responding professionally, we were told, “If this is ruining your vacation, I’ll gladly refund the days you have left so you can go to a hotel,” and that we could “pay for the cleaners to come back” ourselves. We were also told we were “looking for cobwebs behind the toilet,” when the issues were clearly visible throughout the home. The communication overall felt defensive and dismissive rather than customer-focused. Will not return:-(

We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We go to so much time and effort to make sure your stay is perfect. Our cleaning crew is very good and very expensive. We walked the house after the cleaning crew left and before you arrived and it was perfect. Our pool and hot tub is well documented. There are laminated instructions hanging on the pool equipment, all valves and controls are labeled and a set of instructions are emailed along with your reservation.

We loved the home and especially the pool. The remote to the TV was a little picky at times but we didn’t have time to watch much TV. It was our first experience and it won’t be our last. We will look to stay at this home again when coming out this way to see my son and his family. 💜

Not one to repeat

I'll try to start with the positive, the pictures are accurate but more information would have made the decision to stay here entirely different. We arrived late so it was already dark outside, walking up to the back door with belongings, we walked past a bug bomb can on the ground, then passed a wet towel hanging next to the pool. Walked on into the house which is very nicely decorated, however when we went to put up our clothes we found clothes already in the closet, then opened the drawers in the bath to place our toiletries and found a used deodorant stick, hair brush covered with hair and a used towel on the back of the door. These were all things we have never in past 8 years of using homeaway ever come across. Later we thought we would check out the pool so we turned on the pool light to find large patches of leaves and debris on the bottom, sadly it wasn't useable to us. Finally we began to look for a place to let our pets do "their business" and found that only the front yard gets cut the rest is left "natural" which in Florida is kinda well you probably know. Finally we headed off for some sleep or attempted to, after a few hours we realized the house is located between two highly trafficked roads. So in the morning we decided to contact the owners with our questions and concerns, they were quick to respond but unfortunately they were not able to assist. We asked if they could get the pool cleaned and the grass cut since there were no tools for me to do this myself, they let us know the schedule of the cleaners "they were both planned to arrive 4-5 days into our 7 day stay . We also discovered the used toiletries, towels and clothes belong to the owners since this is their primary residence. Ok so at this point we cannot use the pool, our pets are trying to crap in foot tall weeds and were sharing closet space with someone else's stuff, but we are still trying to make the best of it. Then rain came and the rear doors became swollen shut leaving us the front door only as a way to enter or exit, did I mention the busy road? So after this we decided to find another location and leave this rental for another place to stay. Best decision we made that week, we did email the owners again, but they never responded probably didn't want to bother with us, since it would spoil their vacation bought with this rental.

We really liked the house. It has character! We were there during the "spring shed" so we fought a lot of falling stuff which was to be expected. We used the hot tub daily. Guide book is easy to read and user friendly. House has all you need for a visit. Kitchen is also user friendly. See ya next year!

Historic and quaint Mt Dora is well known for it's large century old mossy oak trees and historic renovated homes and fun downtown.

We are surrounded by lakes, rivers, spring heads, parks, historic towns, beaches, golf courses and of course our world-renowned theme parks.

We are well known for our art festivals and antique shopping. We have one of the largest antique centers in North America nearby (Renningers).
