Misty Morning Cottage: Private, secluded, waterfront escape in Gouldsboro, Maine
Take in the peaceful ocean harbor view while drinking your morning coffee on the wraparound porch - (or on the porch upstairs off of the master bedroom - or down on the point in the Adirondack chairs....). Watch lobstermen pull their traps right in front of the house. Kayak around the bay - watch for seals, herons and bald eagles - bask in the sundown on the beach on a lovely granite ledge - swim in ocean water warmed after running in on an afternoon high tide... - hike nearby mountains, bike on nearby biking trails, enjoy the natural treasures and exciting bold coast on Schoodic point, or take a trip to Bar Harbor to gift shop and/or to explore more of Acadia National Park - all within short driving distance. Retreat to the wonderfully cozy interior. White pine wooden floors throughout, a custom-built kitchen, dining space(s) for large gatherings, 2 wooden stoves for cozy evenings, water views from the kitchen, dining room and living room ensure a memorable vacation. The upstairs master bedroom opens to private balcony overlooking the beach and harbor. Should it start to rain one day, don't despair, just curl up with a book in front of one of the 2 wooden stoves or play a round of cribbage on our custom-made cribbage board coffee table while watching spectacular cloud formations chase across the bay. Maybe it's a good day to take that trip to Mt. Desert Island? And remember - in New England they say, "if you don't like the weather just wait a minute! " The sun will be out again later. Our two story 5-bedroom cottage is a jewel for nature lovers, outdoor activity lovers, hikers, bikers and especially for families.

This is a beautiful property with easy access to the shoreline. There was plenty of sitting and sleeping room for 7 adults and 2 children. The house was very clean and well stocked with towels, dishes and kitchen supplies. We all felt it was even nicer than we expected. The host and caretakers were quick to respond. It's a bit off the beaten path , but still close to Route 1. Google maps will get you right to the property

Thank you so much for the review! We are happy to hear that we exceeded your expectations! Please come again!
If you are looking for peace and plenty of room (we were), this is the house for you! We were there over the Fourth of July and even then, aside from a handful of firecrackers and the distant sound of fireworks for an hour, it was quiet. The house is lovely. Very spacious, very open and light-filled, very clean. The main dining table overlooks the lawn and ocean, perfect for playing games while idly watching for birds. While it was just four of us there, the layout could have absorbed many more guests. There are fans in every bedroom and the heat never bothered us. Overall, it was welcoming and comfortable in a way that many rentals aren't.If you come to Maine for trails and hiking, there are good options in both directions. Schoodic—the other half of Acadia National Park close by, as is Petit Manan Point. Mt. Desert Island is a longer drive, though you can catch a (car-free) ferry to Bar Harbor from nearby Winter Harbor. Or park at the new visitor’s center in Trenton, take the bus in, and skip jockeying for parking in Acadia. Further up the coast is Great Wass Island, which is less busy and a beautiful place to hike and relax. The swimming was good during the hours around high tide. We saw an osprey and great blue herons most days, and an an eagle once or twice. I got to practice my gull id. Our last night we watched seals feed on a school of fish after chasing them into a tight circle. We loved our time at Misty Morning Cottage!
