*This home is in a pet-loving neighborhood near a busy park, so it’s not uncommon to occasionally hear dogs barking in yards at birds, squirrels, or raccoons.
*Like many urban cities, Albuquerque has seen an increase in the un-housed population. On occasion, you may see individuals when driving out toward Central Ave. Our neighborhood itself is safe, residential, and diverse — with long-time families, medical staff, UNM students, and friendly dog-walkers. Nearby: a church, private and public schools, and a local park.
+Noise notice: This is a duplex. While interaction is uncommon, you may occasionally hear guests next door. I likely but wanted to note this possibility.
X No cats allowed (due to allergies).

The house was perfect for a family getaway with my kids and my dad! We loved the location, walking to the Explora, parks, Old Town, and restaurants. We also enjoyed the hot tub and having dinner outside on the patio. We will definitely look into staying again and exploring more of the museums in the area!
Lovely place, great location. The only thing that wasn't ideal was that the heating system is very loud when it' running, and it can't be turned down low enough to not run at night - the host helpfully provided earplugs so we were able to deal with it, but just be aware of that if you're sensitive to noise.

Thank you for your support and review! We appreciate you mentioning that we provide earplugs for guests since everyone’s comfort level for sleeping is different. We also have portable fans as well. Glad you enjoyed the home and location too!

Why they chose this property
🌵 Historic Old Town Charm & Neighborhood Vibes
📍 Located in the beloved Plaza Vieja neighborhood near Old Town Albuquerque
Welcome to one of Albuquerque’s oldest and most storied neighborhoods—a place where history lives in the adobe walls and every street has a story to tell. Just steps from Old Town Plaza, this area has been a cultural and community hub for over 300 years.
🏘️ A Neighborhood Steeped in History: • Nestled near where Albuquerque was founded in 1706, this neighborhood has grown up around the iconic San Felipe de Neri Church, historic homes, and cobblestone streets. • Plaza Vieja (meaning “Old Plaza”) developed in the early 1900s, with many homes still showcasing original adobe architecture, thick plaster walls, and wooden vigas (beams). • These very streets were once walked by Spanish settlers, Native American artisans, traders on El Camino Real, and later, by artists and entertainers drawn to Albuquerque’s creative pulse. • Georgia O’Keeffe, Ansel Adams, and even celebrities like Bob Hope and Shirley Temple have spent time in Old Town over the years. More recently, scenes from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul were filmed just blocks away.
What makes this property unique
The home you’re staying in captures that classic New Mexican feel—from the cozy adobe textures to the peaceful, tucked-away backyard—while offering all the modern upgrades you need for comfort. Recently purchased from a family who has owned the home since the 1960s. Originally built in the early 1900s.
