About this property
Luxury Hillside Casita with Panoramic Views
This is a new architect designed- owned home perched on a hillside with superb views of town. Built in the traditional SMA style but with every modern amenity there are unique design details, art,and furnishings throughout. The home is a short 5 minute walk downhill to Plaza Civica. Daily maid service and gardener provided.
Features:
- 2 king bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms plus 1/2 bath
- Purified water filtration system throughout house & radiant floor heating
- WIFI + Fully equipped kitchen
The space
There are two master suites containing king size beds. New kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Living room and dining room with cozy fire place and half bath. Breakfast terrace and garden seating that overlooks historic downtown San Miguel. Small stone writer's studio located in garden area.
The Casita was designed to combine the best of traditional San Miguel colonial architecture with modern amenities. The casita has thick walls, cantera stone surrounds for windows and doors, arched brick "Boveda" ceilings in the bathrooms, wood beams with hand split "tejamanil" in between, and terra cotta floors. Other luxury appointments include king beds with upscale bedding in all bedrooms, decorative tile wainscoting, red travertine countertops, custom "mesquite" wood cabinetry, stone fireplaces, and artisanal iron work for windows and hardware. Interior mesquite doors are reclaimed and repurposed from local salvage yards.
These authentic materials are combined with the most modern lighting details and mechanical systems. There is a whole house water purification system for all domestic water and a zoned radiant floor heating system to deal with the chill of winter. High quality linens and bedding are provided. A Nespresso coffee machine is available upon request. The casita also contains luxury furnishings and a considerable amount of original artwork both from the owner and local artists.
Laura provides Daily maid service (except on Sundays). Jose is the full time gardener and he is available to fix any small problems if and when they occur.
Perhaps the most special amenity is the garden itself which is lovingly cared for by Jose. The owner says, "We build the buildings, so we have a place to put the plants." San Miguel's mild high dessert climate is perfect for a wide variety of flowering plants including the colorful Bougainville. The garden is full of pots and "jardinerias" perfect for attracting hummingbirds and butterflies.
