The bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet at night. We could see Mt Rainier out the window. The washer and dryer were great tohave access to. The kitchen was basicBring a sharp knife because we could not find any.
We used it as a base for hiking Mt. Rainer NP. It is very close to the Stevens Canyon Entrance of the park, which provides access to many great trails. The grocery store in Packwood and a gas station are very close. Can't say if there is anything else of interest close by, as all we did was we hiked 12 hours a day on average, ate basic meals, and slept. The place was very clean, the shower had hot water, washer and drier worked, the bed was comfortable, and the host was very friendly. As far as we are concerned, it was all we needed, so I am happy to recommend this place.

The property had a "moldy" smell upon entry, possibly due to portable air unit conditioning unit?? The smell decreased with ventilation from outside. There is no dishwasher, so was a bit concerned about how coffee cups and dishes would be sanitized. The step (s) into the unit is not to code (uneven and too high), so there was some concern about falling. Only there 2 days.

I’m sorry to hear there was a “moldy” smell during your visit! We haven’t had anyone else mention this before so I’m
really surprised but assure you we will look into it! As far as there being no dishwasher, many accommodations with kitchenettes do not have a dishwasher and we definitely state on the listing that dishes need to be washed in the sink. There is always dish soap and a drying rack available should people need them, and our cleaners do a fantastic job of sanitizing any used dishes.
I do apologize if you had difficulty getting up and down the steps. The stairs onto the main cabin deck and down to the guest house are built to code should people require a hand rail. We are looking into installing a hand rail on the two steps to the guest house to provide improved accessibility. Our place is definitely more rustic than a hotel, but many folks find this part of the charm of a mountain getaway.
