About this property
Casa Mexicana
Summary:
Casa Mexicana is located in the best block in town, only 50 feet away from the promenade. With its vibrant, elegant, spacious architecture, it is the perfect space to show off a traditional Mexican style. We meticulously decorated the space with the colorful talaverapottery, intense colors, and beautiful floral murals. You’ll love sitting in the sweet shade of the rooftop terrace and living room balcony, watching the sun set over the Sea of Cortez.
The Space:
Less than 50 feet away from the Malecón promenade, Casa Mexicana is located in the most upscale block in town. Quite literally, your backyard is the promenade.
As the name implies, Casa Mexicana is full of Mexican art and imagery, such as its colorful bougainvillea flower mural as you enter the house, and different Mexican-style murals in each of the rooms. The tasteful detail of the facade is so pretty that people often stop by to take selfies with Casa Mexicana in the background.
The house has 3 floors, with the patio, large pool, and charcoal grill on the ground floor, not to mention a small but very cute guestroom located between the garage and the backyard. The second floor is composed of the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Our guests really enjoy the living room with its small, very accessible terrace and view of the sea. The third floor has two beautiful rooms (and don’t forget to check out the view from the master bedroom). You can take the stairs up to the spacious shaded terrace on the roof— from which you’ll see the sun disappearing under the Sea of Cortez in the tranquil, but spectacular La Paz sunsets.
If you love to cook, this is the house for you: the fully-equipped kitchen is a gorgeous space with its hand-painted azulejo (Moorish tile) décor, and opens seamlessly into the dining and livings rooms, making entertaining a snap. Or if you prefer to feel the ocean breeze, fire up the poolside grill and dine on the fully furnished patio equipped with outdoor dinnerware.
And after a day of exploring, what better way to relax than to swim in Casa Mexicana’s spacious pool, surrounded by vegetation in your own personal oasis?
Guest Access:
Guests have access to all areas of the house, including the patio with pool and gas grill, rooftop terrace, bedrooms, and kitchen, living room, and dining room, and laundry room with a washer and drier. There are air conditioning units in every room of the house.
We take pride in using non-toxic cleaning supplies, providing a healthier and more natural alternative, while being just as effective to synthetic-based conventional cleaners.
We are making efforts towards water conservation in La Paz. We are adopting water-efficient technologies, growing mostly native vegetation in our decorative gardens, promoting responsible water usage, and building urban rainwater capture basins.
Finally, we provide canvas grocery bags you can use in your trips to the local stores, farmer’s and fish markets.
The Neighborhood:
The inexhaustible natural beauty of the Gulf of California begins on the promenade, a mere 50-foot walk from your door. You’ll find white sands and boat rides to the islands for scuba diving, snorkeling, and swimming with the playful sea lion cubs. Remember, this area is very popular, so there might be some loud noises during the weekends and holidays.
Don’t forget the cafés, shops, and restaurants that decorate its curve along the La Paz cove. Notable spots include Bismarckito, a famous outdoor seafood and taco restaurant with a fabulous view of the sea, literally around the corner from Casa Mexicana.
In fact, many more of La Paz’s finest restaurants are within a block or two of the house.
The neighborhood restaurants include Ambrusia, JR Ribs, Tres Virgenes, Sorstis, 1240 coffee shop, La Masa (a fantastic pastry bakery), a block away is the Mezcalería de La Paz, an inviting place heavily frequented by locals and tourists alike to savor its broad Mezcal selection.
When you’re in the mood for home-cooked meals, you’ll find the ingredients in two traditional Mercados within strolling distance, where you can buy fresh fish, meats and vegetables. And don’t forget to visit the farmer’s market which goes on in the mornings of Tuesday and Saturday.
Getting Around:
From the La Paz airport: You can take a taxi or rent a car.*
To the boardwalk restaurants, bars, downtown and main square where the cathedral and plaza are located, the farmer´s market, municipal market and supermarket: All are at WALKING DISTANCE.
To the outlying beaches: You can drive, or take a taxi, or a tour. If you take a taxi, do not forget to arrange your return or ask him to wait for your.*
General Notes:
•You can take the public bus one block from the house.
•And you can take UBER to go to everywere (except the airport).
*We can make arrangements with reliable drivers without extra costs.
Other Things to Note:
It’s worth reiterating that Casa Mexicana has a very cute ground floor bedroom with its own bathroom, excellent for older family members traveling with you. On weekends, there tends to be a lot of activity in the neighborhood at night, so you can hear music and conversations coming from the malecon, the street, and the Oxxo across the street.
Keep an eye out for the huge (but harmless) iguanas owned by our next door neighbor, which you can sometimes see sunning themselves on the big wall behind the pool.

What a beautiful home! The younger members of the family truly enjoyed it. However the older folks struggled with all the levels and stairs. This is a 4 story home ( if you include the roof top area). Also there is no safety rail to assist in getting on/out of the poor, so not great for anyone with physical issues. The location was spot on and walking distance from everything. Hosts were easy to communicate with. Lovely spot but for the under 50 folks with no issues. Also beware the cement stairs if they get wet. 2 days in my son slipped and shattered his lower leg. Destroyed our Christmas.
Thank you so much Victor for taking the time yo write us a review.

The house was very nice and as described. The host Monica was attentive to answering questions about the house. Monica would not address the fact that she did not disclose the excessive noise from the carnival, and only mentioned there was a yearly carnival a few days before we arrived. The house according to the description is 50 feet from the Malacon, that means 50 feet from a huge stage that had music from 8-12 hours (starting at 3-7 pm and ending at 2am) every night of the carnival, no exceptions. The bass was incredible and shook the whole house for the whole time. It was painful on everyone. There are carnival rides on the other side of the wall from the pool which have remained after the main carnival ended. The lights flash in the windows but nothing compared to the stage. and the boom of the bass. The carnival had a really nice parade and food. It is typically held the week before ash Wednesday. I personally would not stay here at that time

Dear Brenda,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and I truly appreciate your kind words about the house and our communication.
I am very sorry that the noise from the carnival affected your stay. La Paz’s annual carnival takes place along the malecón for a few days each year before Ash Wednesday, and while many visitors enjoy the festivities, I completely understand that the level of noise — especially the music and bass from the stage — can be overwhelming for guests looking for a quiet environment.
In hindsight, I should have communicated more clearly and earlier about how close the stage and festivities can be to the house during those specific dates. I appreciate you pointing this out, and I will make sure future guests are informed well in advance so they can decide whether that timing works for them.
Thank you again for your feedback and for staying at the house. I truly hope you were still able to enjoy parts of La Paz, including the beautiful parade and the local food.
Warm regards,
Monica
The location to the Malecon and restaurants can't be beat. There is a lot of noise on weekends from the club and street below. So if you need super quiet to sleep this isn't the place for you. The house itself is fantastic. The upper deck is the best place for morning coffee and the pool is awesome for afternoon lounging. I would highly recommend this place and will be coming back myself.
Perfect spot for our trip to La Paz. Will definitely stay again. Thank you!

Great property. Love the neighborhood. We had four adults and a baby and it worked out very well. A little noisy on Friday night, but that’s to be expected that close to the malecón.
We loved our stay at this beautiful villa! The location was perfect, the house was beautiful, arrival and departure was easy and efficient. We would love to come back and recommend this property 100%!!! Thank you for an amazing stay.

Great location in La Paz
We stayed at this home in La Paz for 4 nights. Fabulous location! Just off the Malecon and just blocks from a grocery store, great restaurants and the bus station. We particularly enjoyed the roof top patio! We'd stay here again.

First time visitors to La Paz. Casa Mexicana was a jem. Our group of 6 loved everything the house offered. Pool was a perfect size, and the roof top patio views were amazing.

We had a great time and it was a perfect set up if you have young kids. Our only complaint was that it was a bit noisy.

Yes, the malecon is a bit noisy on weekends because of the restaurants, snack bar and the malecon!
Had everything we needed. Great guides. Close to everything. Had a great time

My name is Monica. I grew up in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, and have lived La Paz for the last six years. During that time, I've grown roots into the community through educational programs and efforts to advance environmental conscience in the form of organic gardens, recycling, and sustainable water-management practices.
