Newport Beach Pirate House

Only a few houses from the sand! Sleeps 5....or 8

This vacation home is located in one of the best areas of Newport beach.  The downstairs unit, or Captain's Quarter's, is a 2bed/1bath pirate themed home.  The downstairs unit  was once featured on HGTV as the pirate house of Newport Beach!  Although the unit has been toned down a bit since its TV days…..once a pirate, always a pirate! There is a queen bed in the master bedroom with room for a pack-n-play.  The second bedroom has a twin over full bunk bed with a twin trundle. Living room has a 65” smart TV with local cable, HBO and Wi-Fi. Second bedroom has 32” TV with DVD player.

The upstairs unit, First Mates Quarters, is accessible by an outdoor staircase and is a 1bed/1bath. The unit has its own kitchen and living space. This allows for a bit a privacy between guests. The bedroom has a queen bed with room for a pack-n-play.  Living room couch folds out to a full bed. Living room has 40”  Smart TV with local cable, HBO and Wi-Fi.

There is a gas BBQ and outdoor seating, outdoor shower with hot water, beach cart and sand toys. End your day relaxing at the outdoor fire pit or make smores in it.  The garage (one car)  has non-coin operated laundry and an additional toilet.

Bikes can be borrowed for an additional deposit.

Linens, towels and a few beach towels provided.

Fun place to stay. The patio is great! Love the outdoor shower too. Being able to use the bikes in the garage for a deposit saved us from having to rent or bring our own, which is an awesome convenience. This was my family’s second time renting this house, and I’d do it a third time too!

Summer Fun

Pirate decorations were fun for the little ones. Nice to have a separate room and bath for grandpa and grandma! Only complaint was upstairs bedroom carpet needs cleaning. Enjoyable stay and loved the bikes!

Family Reunion

We only used the home to sleep as we were gathering at another home on the beach. The home was clean and beds and bedding was clean as well. The check in process was very smooth and the upstairs unit worked well for my parents to have their own space.

Another successful stay at the Pirate House

I believe this is the 4th time we’ve stayed here. The location and convenience keep my family coming back. Very responsive hosts. Trying to find a house in Newport with AC is almost impossible. Combine that with the convenience of tankless water heaters, air compressor for bike tires, a full shower outside to wash the beach off, a bbq grill outside…and you’ve got a successful location for the family! We’ll be back next year!

Pirate house success

This is our 2nd time staying here as a family. Already booked our 3rd. The layout works well for our family of 8. Outside shower is good to have. AC is a great benefit. It’s the little things they do that makes the house great…great garage, air compressor, fireplace outside, tankless water heaters, good kitchen with everything you need. Fast, fast responsiveness from the host.

Perfect Pirate Beach Vacation

Our family stayed in this cute little cottage for 5 days. We loved every minute! It is in such a great location and close to everything. We loved having the extra space upstairs and all the amenities provided at the house. We rode the house bikes nearly every day. The cottage is located very close to the beach and a few blocks from where the boardwalk starts so it was easy to get anywhere we needed to go. The outdoor shower was awesome so that we were able to keep the house sand-free! We loved the whole set up at the house and played cards at the booth kitchen table every night. The TV was awesome for watching sports and movies. A few close restaurant recommendations are Sancho's Tacos, Chronic Tacos, Mama D's and the Alley. All are walkable!

Woo Hoo!! Aaaargh second stay!

This was our families second time to stay here for a week and it was just as enjoyable as the first! This rental has everything you need to park the car once and never need it again the whole time you're there! The beds are so comfy and the sleeping arrangements work out terrific for our brood and the gourmet kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. Plus you have your own washer and dryer in the garage! We rented both units and that was terrific for the In Laws to have their own space and still all be together. It is perfect for our teenager and her friends. We love the location, outside shower, toys, bikes and proximity to the beach. We walked and biked each day and came back to a wonderful house for shrimp on the BBQ and a fire in the outside fire pit. We cant wait to make our reservations for next year! Thank you so much for allowing us to have a wonderful time with friends and family!

Way better than expected!

From the reviews and the description, we were expecting a good home to stay at on our visit to Newport Beach. But honestly, I don’t think the description did it justice. My family has been coming to Newport Beach for about 30 years. We’ve stayed at multiple houses. Many know they’ll be rented regardless of the state of the property. The thing that makes the pirate house unique, is not only the cleanliness and the updates, but also some of the attention to detail to make sure your stay is even more convenient. Labels on the drawers describing the contents, sandwhich baggies and tinfoil to take food to the beach for my kids, a nice grill to cook out (not a rusted out charcoal or gas grill). Beach chairs and boogie boards. An air compressor in the garage for tires. A Keurig coffee maker. We just really enjoyed this home. The owners were very easy to work with and obviously are invested in ensuring people staying here have an enjoyable time. Love The Pirate House!

Come to the beach and park your carrrgh!!

My husband and I rented both units, 2bed-2bath downstairs, and 1bed-1bath upstairs, along with our daughter and son-in-law. Each unit has their own kitchen, downstairs kitchen is gourmet caliber. There is a gas bbq for outdoor grilling, while enjoying the evening weather. The property is a short block from the beach, which is nearly deserted as there are no public parking areas close by. We paid the bike deposit and did not drive our car the whole time we were there. There are many restaurants close by and the Newport Pier is less than a mile away, we biked down to Balboa as well and walked around the peninsula, and it is an easy ferry ride to the island and it's quaint shops and restaurants. Our daughter's family stayed in the unit downstairs and we stayed upstairs. Both units were very clean, well taken care of, well equipped with linens, cooking utensils, spices and seasonings, and Keurig coffee makers. The upstairs unit was decorated in a nice beach motif while the downstairs carried the pirate theme. The downstairs bath is enormous with a shower and Jacuzzi tub. There is an outdoor shower for rinsing off the salt and sand of the beach. Our only problem with the units was having to leave. We will definitely be back!! Ahoy Mateys!!

Comfortable house in a perfect location

We had a wonderful stay at the Pirate House - two parents, a 6 year old, a 3.5 year old, and a grandma. Communication was quick and easy with the hosts. Check-in was a breeze. The house is exactly as described. Better than described, actually. They were depleted in some essential supplies (e.g. sponges, toilet paper, laundry detergent), but there are 2+ supermarkets nearby. We wanted to buy food anyway! And the kitchen appliances are modern and easy to use. We didn’t use the grill or the outdoor fireplace, but they looked nice. The house was clean with fresh linens and plenty of towels. There’s a huge smart tv in the comfortable living room. There are board games for different ages, though no toys for our aged kids (we brought some). The beds are comfortable. There’s a bunk bed trundle combo in one room that could fit 4 kids or three adults. The bathroom has a big tub which was fun for the kids and relaxing for the adults (we couldn’t get the jets to work but it was still great) and a separate shower with strong water pressure. The outdoor shower was awesome when we returned, sandy from the beach. The AC worked well and was lifesaver since it was 85+ everyday. The washer/dryer are big and new and worked well. The house is even more conveniently located than I expected. It’s a very short, safe (no major roads) walk to the beach and right next to a lifeguard stand. We went every morning at least. The garage is spacious and not having to navigate street parking is very convenient. It’s less than 5 minutes from PCH (hwy 1) and Newport Blvd (Hwy 55) which makes getting around very easy and quick. We went to other beaches, south Orange County, San Diego, and LAX. It’s very easy to get food delivered (we used ubereats a lot). Oh I almost forgot the upstairs cottage where grandma stayed. It’s larger than expected. Would be very comfortable for a couple and you could have someone over for a meal bc the living room is spacious. It didn’t seem to be recently renovated like the downstairs. The tv wasn’t as nice and we had trouble turning it on (worked once but not again?) and the air conditioning window unit was very loud and didn’t cool that well on the hotter days. We didn’t use the kitchen or spend much time up there bc the downstairs was our “main house”, so I can’t comment on all the amenities. But you could definitely use it as an extra bedroom like we did, or a separate apartment. All in all we loved the house and had a great trip! Ahoy!

Perfect Location! Loved it!

All the comforts of home can be found at The Pirate House! We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay and this perfectly located, safe and quiet neighborhood. Very affordable, plenty of space and very relaxing time spent here. Would not hesitate to return to Newport Beach and stay at The Pirate House again!

Pirate House

We enjoyed our stay with daughter and her two girls. Separate living spaces were very nice. The girls enjoyed the pirate costumes! Ideal location. Owner response was outstanding. Only suggestion I have is to add wall mounted dispensers for shamoo, conditioner and body wash we see in many ABB's.

Hurley Newport Beach Vacation

This property was awesome. It was very clean and close to the beach. Perfect location for a getaway to the beach! Crystal was amazing and had everything ready for a wonderful week at the Pirate House. We go to Newport every year and this was our favorite beach house. Thank you Crystal

Great Stay

The house is very comfortable. Loved having the upstairs unit my husband and I stayed there and the young adults stayed at the bottom house. We were all close but not too close 😀. The owner is great at responding. I highly recommend

Great get away.
