About this property

1 Bdr 1 Bth House With Whirlpool Tub

This peaceful country home is considered a " private residence" with a detached living area. It is located in a rural area away from tourism and off the beaten path. There are two separate structures situated in a way to provide privacy from one another. There is a main 1-bedroom house (this is the rental) and a smaller "cottage". We are located 1/2 way between Volcano National Park and Hilo; being 1296 sf under roof and a totally furnished 1 bedroom, 1 bath house on 2 acres. The relaxation experience is enhanced by a private 1-person whirlpool tub, quiet surroundings, and lots of songbirds. The bedroom has one queen size memory foam bed with and a walk-in closet. The living room has a sofa and a futon that will lay flat. The dining area consists of a 4-seat dining table and a kitchen bar. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a whirlpool tub. There is a front porch for relaxing and listening to the birds. You will find this house very comfortable with all the amenities you need. Everything is included; all appliances; including washer / dryer, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, towels etc. Just bring your suitcase. There are many adventures to explore in East Hawaii such as Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls, black and green sand beaches, tropical gardens, newly formed (2017 and 2018) lava fields and cones. It is a newer house and although this house is close to various vacation spots, it is off the beaten path located in a country atmosphere. The rate is very affordable, allowing you to stay just a little bit longer in Paradise. I hope that you will come relax and explore our beautiful Island. INTERNET** Internet usage is unlimited data but after using 100GB the speed slows down behind other users. If you need a lot of fast internet you would have to provide your own hotspot.

Beautiful house and property far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city to hear nature and witness it’s beauty. The host is easy to communicate with and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Quiet, safe & away from crowds

Easy 30 minute drive from Hilo Airport. Quiet rural area and not difficult to find with accurate driving instructions. Comfortable small, well-equipped and very clean house. Patty was a cordial, helpful host. Nice home base for our 6 day stay.

Peaceful Oasis

This was my second chance to stay at Patricia’s place but my first time in the house (not the studio). It is such a relaxing and comfortable experience. The breakfast sunrise on the porch alone would make this an exceptional place to stay.

lovely property, private and remote

Very nice roomy house, very private although no one was staying in the 2nd house while we were there. It was a 4.3 mile drive down a side road that took about 12 minutes off the main road, it was fairly close to the volcano. For our trip it was centrally located for where we needed to be. Well clean, nicely furnished, wifi, bath, beautiful setting.

Lovely stay

It was what the explanation said. Quiet getaway. House was a perfect size and very clean. Short drive to Volcanoes National Park. Great for nature lovers. But not too far from Hilo. Expect the sounds of nature: Rain and chickens.

Best Property for Visitors and Residents Alike!

I live in Hawaii and was looking for a place to stay while visiting my parents on the big island with my boyfriend and we found this property less than 5 minutes away from their house. It is so beautiful and Patricia was an amazing host. She made sure we knew exactly what to do for check in and check out. The house was clean and she even left us a little gift of chocolates for us to enjoy. If you are looking for a place to stay I highly recommend this property! Mahalo to Patricia for letting us stay and we hope we can come back again one day!

A Hidden Gem

My wife and I stayed a week and enjoyed every moment there. A very private, quiet property although if you step outside early morning you may hear the distant crowing of roosters and croaking of frogs. Inside, the layout and size of the house is perfect for a couple. The kitchen has everything you need to prep your own meals, the bathroom is spacious with a walk-in shower or a whirlpool tub. Best of all, the location is perfect for accessing Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Puna district or HIlo and the northern part of the island. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Peaceful Relaxation

Patty's retreat is what I will call it. Nestled in the fern covered rain forest, this hidden gem provides comfort, peace and solace for your soul. Close enough to amenities but far enough away from hustle and bustle. The whirlpool bath was heaven for relaxation. If you plan on seeing the Hilo and Volcano area, this spot is the perfect place to land. After a day of sightseeing, this retreat was heaven to come home to. Nice big kitchen and open airy feeling in this home. I will return.

Perfect "home base" for exploring East side of the island!

We stayed at Patty's home for part of our stay to the Big Island. It was a perfect home base for exploring the East side of the island. It's in close proximity to Hilo & Volcanoes National Park. We followed Patty's directions and the house was very easy to find. It's about 4.5 miles off of the main highway. The house has everything you need - a well equipped kitchen, really nice bathroom, Wi-Fi, and so on. The house felt secure and it was private as well. Patty was accommodating and it was clear she wanted us to have an enjoyable, comfortable stay. Definitely recommend!

Fern Acres Country Getaway

Husband and I just spent a week in this lovely property. We were greeted with lush landscaping and singing birds and orchids growing in one of the trees. The quaint house has a cute front porch to relax on. The living room has a comfy couch and Dish TV, plus a closet full of movies for entertainment if needed. The kitchen was fully stocked and we enjoyed the dining room. The bed was really comfy, we rested well. I have a bad back, so the jacuzzi tub was a God send for me after exploring the Hilo side of the island all day. Our host Patricia was great, and if we find ourselves over this way again, we would book here again. Mahalo Patricia

Beautiful home, beautiful area!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It is very private, the house was immaculate, and everything was there that we could possibly need. We loved sitting on the porch in the evening listening to the birds and the frogs. Patricia was very accommodating from the moment we booked the house until the moment we checked out. We arrived to a wonderful welcome gift of an anniversary card and a bowl full of local fruit, macadamia nuts and chocolate. We chose this house because of the proximity to the Volcanic National Park, which we visited twice during our stay. The volcano was quite active while we were there and it was especially fun to go up after dark to see the bright orange glow of lava spewing from the earth. For the price this is well worth it and so much better than a hotel. We hope to definitely come back again. Thank you so much Patricia for sharing your piece of paradise with us!

Peace and Quiet

This home is exactly and described! A great place to stay if you're near Hilo and Volcanoes Park side of the Big Island. Super communication with the owner and really easy to be your home base from no matter where you plan to explore on the island. We went to Kona and back. Have breakfast at Pele's Kitchen. Get groceries at Foodland . Even a McDonald's if you choose! All so close. The home is super clean and has everything you need. You may feel its very far off the highway, but it's really not after the first drive or two. Just have a flashlight with you and leave porch light on for after dark arrivals. We would surely come back! Thanks for your wonderful home Patty!

A short but sweet stay at Patty's home

We loved the place! It is a hidden gem - roomy, clean, fully stocked, and beautifully decorated. It is very conveniently located halfway in between Hilo and the Volcano national Park. I gave everything else five stars but four stars for the location and neighborhood and accuracy of listing. Because the property is away from the major road. We had major difficulty finding the place in the dark. When we called Patty, she answered right away and provided additional instructions, which was very helpful. The address on VRBO is wrong. I understand Patty tried to change it with VRBO but could not. To be fair, she provided detailed directions that is accurate to the "T." but it was our first time visiting the island, we arrived almost 11 pm and it was very dark! Had we arrived during the day, her directions would have taken us directly to the gate. All in all, we loved the place. If we come back to visit the Hilo side of the island, I would not hesitate to stay at her place again.

Beautiful and quiet property

This house is new. Everything was clean and very welcoming. House had everything you needed. Pictures were the same as the house. Mornings were beautiful, sunny and birds were singing. We stayed at this property almost a month. During our stay we had rain through the nights and that was ok with us. Patricia made us feel very welcome, she left goodies for us. You need a car to get places, it takes around 20 minutes to get to shopping centers. If you wnat to try local best fresh fruit and vegetables, you have to visit farmers market in Hilo, but next to Foodland, way closer to the house, we shop there and it's open every day. Better quality food and prices are the same. When buying a fresh fish, must go to Suisan Fish Market in Hilo. For us the best beach was Carl Smith Beach Park. This is the only beach where is some sand. Water is colder, but snorkeling is nice there. You can see turtles there almost every day. We did and it was amazing experience. They get really close to you there. This beach is not very deep, so kids will enjoy it too. It gets crowded on the weekends, get there sooner. Life guard is there. Hilo has the best bakery - Papa'a paloa bakery (closed sunday). If you want to see lava, you don't have to pay money to companies, you can drive to Kalapana and rent bikes from KAIMU RENTALS for $20 each (you can also just walk). This is one of the best experiences we did. We loved this house, mahalo for sharing it with us.

Cosy Getaway

Excellent stay and a get place to stay at if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. The house is in the countryside and the road is a bit of a rollercoaster to get to it, but it is well worth it. There are many places in close proximity(20 to 30) where you don’t feel like you are too far away. Highly recommend.

About the host

Host profile image
The Owner really loves the life stlye the Hawaiian Islands has to offer, it is simple and warm. She has lived on Oahu and in Kona, but She prefers the East side of the Big Island. Swimming, snorkeling off one of the local catamarans and relaxing under a palm tree are just a few things the owner loves to do.

Why they chose this property

When you come here it is time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Whether you enjoy going to the beach, golfing, fishing, feasting at a luau, riding a jet ski, scuba diving, sailing, hiking in the Park, flying in a helicopter over an active volcano or just listening to the tropical birds sitting on the lanai; you will be comfortable here. I hope with this affordable rate, and along with all the comforts of home, it will allow you to stay just a few more days. This house is a newer house and well maintained. This property is very comfortable, and is located in Mountain View, Hawaii, 1/2 way between Volcano National Park and Hilo. It is accessible to many activities including Volcano National Park, black, green and white sand beaches, several golf courses, several botanical gardens, several water falls, the Ahalanui Park which was a naturally heated hot pond (heated from the volcano) with warm, calm water and beautiful views of the ocean from the hot pool. (The latest lava flow took the hot pond but created new beautiful virgin black sand beaches). The location; Mt. View Hawaii is a little off the beaten path, the feeling of privacy surrounds you, it gives you that country feel, is very affordable, and has all the comforts of home. Come, relax and enjoy.
