About this property
Historic Creekside Cabin with Luxury Amenities, WiFi, Fireplace, Private Trails
This luxurious, one-bedroom cabin is located on a private, cascading stream. Tucked into a luscious forest, it's the perfect place to escape to the wilderness. Complete with two private bathrooms a luxurious primary suite, and rustic front porch for sipping coffee, your only regret will be that you can't stay just a bit longer.
Tucked into a luscious forest, it's the perfect place to escape to the wilderness. Enter the home on the ground level with a warm, rustic feel. The kitchen, living room, and bath with soaking tub are located on the main level and the private upstairs queen suite is complete with a newly renovated, modern bathroom with cozy wood floors.
Be sure to open the doors and windows and take in the naturally cool temperatures and relaxing sounds of the stream though the cabin does offer A/C and heat throughout.
The Hemlock Cabin at Huffman Creek Retreat is located in Robbinsville, North Carolina in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountain Region of the southern Appalachian Mountains. Known for it's diverse species of flora and fauna, the region is home to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest (home of the largest trees in the east and the annual synchronous fireflies), Slickrock Creek Wilderness Area, Natahala National Forest, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
From Huffman Creek, you're only moments to the secluded waters of Lake Santeetlah. The lake boasts almost an entirely undeveloped shoreline with 75% being home to National Forest. With a restricted number of residences, the quiet lake is ideal for boating, fishing, swimming, and any of your favorite water sports. Boat and Jet Ski rentals are available throughout the spring and summer seasons.
Take a short drive to Highway 129 and take on the adventure of driving the 'Tail of the Dragon.' The world-renowned road is a challenge even for the greatest road warriors with 318 curves in just 11 miles. Continue on your journey and loop back around to Huffman Creek on the Cherohala Skyway, which winds through mountaintop ridges of the Cherokee National Forrest. These views are certainly something to write home about. Be sure to bring your camera! And if you're traveling in June, be sure to make time to experience the blooming of the Native Flame Azaleas!
For the history buffs, you're just a short drive to Cherokee, North Carolina, home to the eastern Band of the Cherokee People. Try your luck at Harrah's Cherokee Casino or visit one of the many restaurants, shops, and museums.
Embrace your inner adventurer and head down the Nantahala River. Featuring a combination of Class II and III rapids, there is something for the novice and full-on adrenaline junkie. Be sure to contact one of the multiple rafting companies in Bryson City to schedule your full day of adventure. Between white water rafting, zip-lining, mountain biking, and horse back riding, you'll be ready to relax when you arrive back at Huffman Creek.
Enjoy the quieter side of your stay just steps outside of your door. Take a nap by the private river while you enjoy friends and family fishing for trout.
There is certainly nothing more therapeutic than curling up in your cabin during the occasional afternoon rain or warming up by your private indoor fireplace or outdoor fire pit and enjoying the undeveloped view of the night stars twinkling above.
Head down to the fire pit for an evening of stories, laughs, good eats, and of course, smores.
The Hemlock's kitchen offers an abundance of opportunity for the culinary enthusiast to prepare a quick picnic to take along for the day's hike or a full feast to celebrate a day of outdoor fun and relaxation. (We can also stock your kitchen with groceries upon request)

About the host
Hosted by Hunter Turner

Since 1986 our family has been escaping to the mountains of Robbinsville, North Carolina to reconnect with nature, explore, and of course create lifelong memories with our family. We have hiked every trail, taught our two boys to fish here, and shared endless gatherings with family and friends. Every season offers an exciting new set of adventures and scenery. The winter snow, spring wild flowers, summer trout, and fall leaves are just the beginning of what you can expect to find. We invite you to come create memories, share new adventures, and take in the sights and sounds of this nature escape.
Why they chose this property
After vacationing here as a child, we knew this was an experience we wanted to share with our children. Over the years, we searched for the perfect mountain home only to create our own private escape of several residences. Today we own seven mountain homes in Robbinsville and look forward to sharing them with you, your family, and friends.
What makes this property unique
When you arrive at the Hemlock Cabin on Huffman Creek, it may take you a few minutes to unwind. Grab your favorite book, head to the porch, hammock, or stream, and prepare for a trip of pure relaxation. Our favorite thing to do is prepare a 'breakfast extravaganza' for early risers. Prepare a pile of pancakes for those morning lovers and let the rest stay snuggled in bed. Best of all, by the time those morning-lovers wrap up, the rest of us are about ready for a day of hiking, exploring, and sometimes napping. It's just the perfect size cabin to stay snuggled together or escape for a bit of privacy. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail on the front porch in the rockers that we are certain epitomize relaxation.
