the home was spotless and comfortable. The location was beautiful--easy access to the lake and close to restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed the peace quiet and that we were able to take our dogs!
This property with a few upgrades could easily be triple the cost so it was a diamond in the rough and well worth the budget. The view is absolutely beautiful! The location is super convenient. Loved this place!!
Everything you need is right here. You are close to mackinaw city and several attractions. I would recommend this place to anyone. This is our 2nd stay and i believe there will be a 3rd.
Bright, airy and clean cottage with a wonderful view of Lake Michigan from the deck. Sandy beach was a plus. Kitchen was adequately stocked. Comfortable queen bed. Nice decor!
You do hear the traffic on Wilderness Drive, but the swimming and sunsets make up for it.
We had three adults and two midsize dogs and we were very comfortable. Access to Lake Michigan was excellent. There is a fire pit near the shore and chairs. There were kayaks but it was too icy to use them. We had everything we needed and there was even washer washer and dryer - very nice! laundry facility and a great grill. The deck is lovely and we used the nice large gas grill but it was a little cold for us to hang out.
We enjoyed our stay. The inside was nice, everything you need is there. The outside needs a lot of work. Siding is coming off. Need to trim bushes and trees as the bugs were so bad you could not set outside at all. Awning on deck is ripped. Disappointed with the beach .

One piece of siding became loose near the door in a recent windstorm, 5 min repair
The awning does have a separated seam but is fully functional. The separation actually is a benefit as it allows water to drain should a guest fail to retract it during a rainstorm.
No shubbery impedes use of the property, on the contrary, it provides much desired privacy and shade.
Bugs are part of the environment near the lake, especially in June. If there is a breeze off the lake, they are no bother. If the wind is uncharacteristically still….you will have more bugs in June.
The general opinion of guests over the past 10 years is that we have one of the best beaches in Michigan with sugar sand, no slope, no rocks and very gradual decent into the lake, not to mention million -dollar west-facing sunsets.
We reget that this was not enough to meet our guests expectations. Would also like to add that we offer the most affordable rates in our market.
Respectfully,
Tim Magyar
The house was adorable and had great views. The beach was nice but it was too cold to swim at that time of the year. The owners live right next door so they are available to help if you have any issues. Overall it is a nice property.
My husband & I just stayed in the Cottage on Wilderness Trail and had a lovely time. The home is super clean and cozy with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We enjoyed the gorgeous panoramic view of the lake from inside the house and the spacious deck. The owners were great, and super accommodating. We will definitely return.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The sunset over the frozen lake our first night was beautiful as the stars and planets popped out in the twilight. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed and the kitchen was easy to cook in. The cottages are close together but the trees or so thick it feels private. The wifi worked perfectly. Next time we will bring our slippers because when temps got to -6 the floors were cold. Otherwise the wall furnace worked great. We did not mind the small shower as the shower head was tall enough for my husband. We'll be back.
This is a very attractive property offering all of the facilities you
might want. It is extremely well maintained, very clean and has a marvelous view of Lake Michigan.
Tim Magyar is very much on the ball. In the midst of a major wind storm, the electricity went out. Tim was over almost
immediately to hook up a portable generator. He returned
very early the next morning to make sure we were fine and that electricity was back to normal. We highly recommend this property and hope to return in 2022.
The cottage was perfect. It had everything we needed and it was close to everything! We will definitely rent this cottage again if we ever find ourselves back in Michigan.
Our stay was wonderful. The cottage was complete with all that you need. The views of Lake Michigan , the starry nights, the coziness of the cottage with its warm decor and the close proximity to Mackinaw City made this an ideal getaway. We hiked every day on nearby trails , the beach and the town. The owners quickly answered all questions and we couldn't ask for more. This was one of our best vacations ever and it all stated with the wonderful accommodation. Thank you for all the attention to the details that made our stay feel like we were at home. Highly recommended.
Checking in was a breeze. Cozy two bedroom right on Lake Michigan. Beach was sandy and very walkable. Washer and dryer were a plus. Cottage has everything you need to make your stay easy and comfortable. Close to town, yet quiet and secluded. Saw deer on the beach and eagles overhead. Any questions we had were answered promptly. We loved our much needed vacation here.
We loved the view and the beach - we took walks in the morning, a dip in the afternoon, and a fire near the shore as the sun set across the lake. It's a sandy and swimmer-friendly beach, a little chilly some days (in mid-September), but on the warm days, it was a delight.
The highlight was the stunning view from the living room, kitchen, and deck. We enjoyed grilling burgers and seeing the lake. Plus, the sound of the waves drifted into the bedrooms at night.
Couldn't ask for much more of the house - clean and neat, just as pictured. The location was a pleasant surprise, with very easy access to the main street in Mackinaw City. Far enough to feel detached, but close enough for takeout dinner.
We had a wonderful trip in May. Nicely appointed, clean, comfortable, classic lakeside cottage. Mayflies were challenging for half of our two week stay, but that goes with the territory. Rather than sitting on the deck we were able to enjoy the view from the giant windows in the front of the house. Appreciated how handy the washer and dryer were. Hosts live next door and were available but did not hover. Would definitely visit again! Thank you for a wonderful vacation.
House just as described in pictures. Great private beach, nice deck, and house fully equipped for Any needs. Couldn’t get enough of beautiful view of Lake Michigan and was very private. Very close to mackinaw city with lots of things to do.
Passed my white glove test. Host was accommodating and respectful. Hated to leave, can’t wait to go back.

We love an adventure and northern Michigan delivers so many. We came to Trails End Bay and breath a sigh of contentment every time we arrive. We hope that you will experience the same family fun.
Why they chose this property
We loved the location, the history and the great beach. We built our ''one day'' retirement home on the lots next door.
What makes this property unique
The sandy beach with shallow waters that warm quicker in the summer and extend the swimming season in the fall were what originally attracted us to Trails End Bay. Being able to cross the street and hike French Farm Lake or fish also is a favorite pass time for our three daughters.
