Master Bedroom - King Bed Bedroom 2 - Queen Bed Bedroom 3 - 2 Twin Bunks
There are several great rentals to choose from at the Vallecito area rental market. Many share similar amenities. NONE enjoy the most unique location, and breathtaking views. It is undoubtedly one of a kind like no other. Eagles Nest has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, contains about 1,425 square feet. It can accommodate 8 guests comfortably. Pets are considered*. The “Nest” is a rustic, secluded and private cabin at the top of the hill, at the end of the road, perched high on a cliff at 8,000 feet above sea level and, a few hundred feet above the valley floor. Our guests enjoy endless unobstructed views of 14,000 ft snow-capped peaks, the Continental Divide, a green valley with shimmering streams right below, and beautiful views of Lake Vallecito. The Little Valley has its own micro-climate – an ever-changing canvas of mesmerizing colors sights and sounds. Eagles Nest was redesigned and redone by its owners, a true labor of love. The exterior look has been transformed by an artisan, a western movie set designer, into a 200-year-old cabin in the mountains- giving it a very unique look, and preserving its' rustic ambiance. Inside, it affords all modern conveniences, updated furniture, furnishings, art work, a modern fully stocked kitchen with latest generation appliances, a refrigerator with an ice maker, a coffee and espresso bar, a gas fired BBQ grill, state of the art audio visual system, a movie library, games for young and adults, High Speed Internet, and live streaming TV. A full-size washer and dryer is available as well and, air conditioning when required. Additional amenities include an ice maker, septic safe garbage disposal, streaming music via Sirius XM, and a first aid kit. For the 2024 season owners have updated and upgraded both baths. The master bath is a newly remodeled walk in shower featuring a glassed enclosure with upgraded hardware. The second bath features a new bathtub/rain shower combination, with a modern sliding glass. A good part of your time will be spent under the gazebo on the large 700 square foot gated deck nature gazing. All photos in the display were taken from the deck, on the premises without alterations. Some say even the pictures do not do it justice. At night, the dark skies hang so low millions of stars hover above the roof top. It seems one could reach up and pluck a star right off its heavenly seat. The countless acres of the Weminuche wilderness and the San Juan national park share a common border with the property – Just walk up to the trail. Owners have provided our guests a radio communication set for when hiking. Vallecito offers entertainment and fun for all ages - adults, the young, and young at heart - fun activities such as; cycling, horseback riding, boating ( (the marina is located a short distance from the cabin) hiking, ATV and four wheeling, fly fishing, and hunting just to name a few. The shoreline is dotted with some lovely restaurants at waters edge. Durango, with all that it has to offer, is just 25 miles away. Come on up and stop chasing, escape the summer heat, smog, and pollution. Give your body and soul an Eagles Nest rest.

Spent Christmas here with the family. Really loved it! Awesome balcony to take in the beautiful surroundings! Property matches pictures in listing. Very responsive management when I reached out for some questions. Definitely would love to return!
We had a great stay! The views of the changing colors was beautiful! We were able to fish, hike, walk the road around the house, cook meals, have great day trips and connect as a family. We enjoyed the games at the house - my kids learned Monopoly and Checkers and never asked to turn on the TV!!
Charming secluded cabin at the top of the hill. Excellent views. Love the deck and the hummingbirds feeders. Older building but upgraded appliances and technology. Nice hot water. Super staff. Great location for the lake, local restaurants, and jumping off point for adventures
The Eagle's Nest was just that...up on the hill overlooking the valley below. The property had plenty of room for 5 of us, with lots to see and explore outdoors. The cabin is well maintained and stocked with most of what is needed for a comfortable stay. Everyone in the neighborhood we encountered were very friendly and congenial.
The location is amazing! The deck is the best part of the property. We had the best time photographing the wildlife. Made friends with the female hummingbird, saw a deer walk though and watched the eagles look for prey.
The house is well equipped. There are plenty of games and space for a large family. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Was sad to leave but hope to return again very soon!

Love the Eagle's Nest!!
A lot of times you look at the pictures of places and think that through perspective or framing that the place or the views won't be as good when you get there. That is NOT the case for the Eagle's Nest! In fact, the pictures do not do it justice at all! The view is incredible - with a deck that gives you an amazing view over Vallecito Lake or of snow capped mountains! We definitely would stay again!

Hi Scott,
Sharon and I are delighted that you liked Eagles' Nest. As to your comments regarding the view - we concur. The camera does not do the view justice, but we have added a few more photos.
We cant get enough of the panorama ourselves ! Thanks for your kind words. Please do come back.

Mobile home..... NOT a CABIN
We booked this property under the assumption of it being a "cabin"......It is indeed NOT a cabin but a mobile home perched on a lovely overlook with a fabulous view.
There was little privacy due to the thin walls and creaking floors. The bathroom door in the master bedroom allowed an inch and a half of light into the room due to a very poor fit. All the construction was shabby.
Housekeeping was sorely lacking. There was an inch of dust/dirt on the ceiling fans and the pots hanging from the kitchen. The bedspread was covered with dog hair..... not our dog as we didn't bring a dog.
The master bedroom sheets were stained brown (from sweaty bodies) and worn through to the lower sheet. I actually sent the property manager a picture because I was totally grossed out. I was given an excuse/apology and told there were other sheets in the closet if I wanted to change them. Just what I wanted to do on my vacation!! Not to mention we PAID a great deal of money to rent this place.
The washer and dryer we were expecting was not installed which was another great disappointment as we had anticipated washing our hiking clothes before our flight home.
In summary, I would NOT book this place until they get their pricing in line with staying in a dirty mobile home and representing it as such. You could do so much better...…. KEEP LOOKING!

Dear Therese S.,
This is NOT a MOBILE HOME.
We have read your review with great disappointment. The owners and management take to heart any constructive criticism of Eagles Nest, and endeavor to correct any issues that arise during our guests stay. Eagles Nest has enjoyed the highest reviews and ratings throughout our ownership (read the other 30 VRBO reviews, as well as more on the Red Cliff website). Many of our customers are repeat customers & international guests. Some bookings are made a year in advance because guest do not wish to lose out on their preferred dates. Red Cliff's management is considered the finest management company in town (read reviews), and the owners are personally involved, hands on, in the operation of Eagles Nest. We have never received complaints by previous guests resembling the issues you allude to. We are very receptive and happy to correct any deficiencies in a timely manner. You have not disclosed that the management company offered to come up and address your issues and you declined saying you already took care of the problem. You did receive a refund as we were in process of replacing our W/D set to a new one and delivery was delayed. We are not perfect, and issues do occur, however your review does not reflect an accurate state affairs. We shall continue to deliver the highest quality and care to this very unique cabin in the woods as we have done in the past three years to the accolades of many happy guests.

Wonderful place. Great views. Cabin has everything one can possibly want.
We had an amazing time. Great location - lake, mountains with aspen forests stocked with mushrooms, mesa verde national park … all within 1.5 hours away. Cabin has fantastic views, dozens of hummingbirds, chipmunks, deer - just have your morning coffee and observe nature. Did not want to leave.
This place is spectacular! We spent 7 nights at the cabin and the view never ceased to amaze my family and I. The cabin comes with everything you need and is super clean. The drive to and from the lake is beautiful and there is a store at the bottom of the hill for necessities. My kids, 11 and 14, loved it. We definitely want to stay there again!
This is our second time to stay at this cabin. Just as before, it was comfortable and easy. The kitchen is well stocked to cook and grill. The views from the deck are amazing. We enjoyed coffee and evening drinks looking out over the lake. Day trips to Durango, Silverton and Pagosa Springs are easy to do from this location too. Our family will be back!
Home was really nice and clean with great views and privacy being at the end of the street. The local stores also had everything we needed close by without having to drive into town. Will come back in the summer!
House needs a good deep cleaning. Deck was the best thing about Eagle's Nest. Beautiful mountain views. The Vallecito grocery store owner was not happy with us leaving garbage in his dumpster. We told him we were guests of David Ash but he said Mr. Ash tells all his guests to leave their garbage in his dumpster. He was really rude and not happy about the situation.

Beautiful views..
Direction for getting to property were poor. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning & wine in the evening on the outside deck.
The house sits on the side of a mountain, vistas are great.
Vallecito Lake is dying, drying up. It doesn't look like the picture.

We provide two sets of directions, including one attachment that has very detailed instructions on how to get to the home. We are wondering if you did not read this attachment as we have had no other guests find that the directions provided made it difficult to get to the home. Vallecito Lake water levels can vary depending on time of year.
My three boys loved being close to the lake to fish and play in the water. The house had all the necessities and had a cozy relaxing feel. Beautiful mornings on the deck with my coffee enjoying the view.
O-M-G.......place very c-o-m-f-y for family and view beautiful view. Everything mention on-line is there. Place very clean and relaxing. Would definitely go back.
Great place to stay with beautiful views. Cabin was clean and well stocked. The only thing that i didn't like about the cabin was the dirt road leading up to it. It was a little narrow and slightly bumpy. But once your at the cabin it's great.
This cabin is really pretty, beautiful views and very comfortable you don’t have to bring anything this cabin has it all. We really enjoyed our stay on Christmas.
