Beautiful 2 bed apartment, tastefully furnished with breathtaking views.
Plaidy at The Moorings is a 2 bedroom holiday apartment in West Looe. It's a little holiday haven with the most incredible views.
The main feature of the apartment is the lounge with its beautiful bay window and the view! It's the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy the view of Banjo Pier and out along the coastline to Rame Head. Watch the world go by in East Looe town or watch the fishing boats as they come back in from the sea and land their catch in Looe Harbour. If you can tear yourself away from the window, a TV is also provided in the lounge!
There is a spacious main bedroom with a kingsize bed, wardrobe and vanity area. The second bedroom is smaller, but also has wardrobe, vanity area and can either be set out with 2 single beds (2'6'' wide) or 1 kingsize bed, providing flexibility to suit your requirements.
The newly fitted kitchen is fully equipped with double oven, hob, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and a dining table for 4. This leads to a utility / drying area, which houses the fridge (with small freezing compartment), and a microwave.
Plaidy has a good sized, shared terrace area out the front of the building. This also looks out on to those great views. It is a perfect spot for enjoying your morning cuppa or alfresco dining.
Plaidy benefits from free WiFi access for all guests, and is located close to all of the local amenities of Looe. East Looe can be reached by crossing the bridge at the end of West Looe Quay. Alternatively, at high tide during the holiday season you can catch a small ferry boat across instead - then you really know you are on holiday by the seaside.
We would advise that Plaidy is a first floor apartment. It is accessed initially from the road by a little pathway up, but then there is a staircase leading up the outside of the building to our front door (as shown in the photographs). These steps are perfectly fine for most, but we do advise all of our guests to take care and hold on to the rail. Although the apartment is absolutely ideal for families, we would suggest, therefore, that it is not a great option for those with children under 12 years old. We also wouldn't recommend it for anyone with mobility issues.
There is no parking immediately outside Plaidy, but guests can choose to either pay to park on West Looe Quay, (just a short walk away and visible from the bay window in the lounge), or benefit from free on-street parking on Marine Drive just past Hannafore Point, which is just 5-9 minutes walk (depending on where you get a space).

Good location amazing views of Quay and out to sea. Good base for easy walk into town etc, access definately better for older childen and those with no mobility issues as steep narrow external staircase as advised by owner.
Lovely apartment in great location. The view from the bay window is really special and was a real pleasure to come back to each day. Great shower, comfy bed and good kitchen facilities. The apartment would benefit from having a smart tv and some washing up liquid!Would happily stay again.
Views were great over looking harbour , steps a little steep but only for young children or senior guest. House was great for 4 adults enjoying a chilled break
We had a lovely holiday here, we stayed for 7 nights. The views were fantastic, although the climb to the apartment was hard for us because we are an elderly couple, but you are made aware of the steps but the views are worth it.the apartment was clean and tidy and had everything you needed, the water was lovely and hot for a shower, the bed was so comfortable it was better than the one I had at home, because I have a bad back, but this bed left me feeling much better on a morning. The kitchen is well equipped and the sofa is comfy.
PLAIDY sits proudly, high on the West Bank of Looe near the final bend in the river, with views in both directions and out across the beach. Whilst the external steps for access are a bit of a challenge the interior is well and tastefully appointed and welcoming. The beds are excellent!
The view was wonderful both sea and river. The apartment was clean with good facilities. Check in very straight forward. Swift response from owner when contacted.
We would definitely stay again.
Chosen for the window seat with views along the river and across the sea. Gorgeous, apart from the 3 days the next door apartment had scaffolding across the view that we weren’t warned about (the people downstairs knew). Plenty of parking nearby and easy walk to East Lois for shops and the beach.
Stayed here for 4 days. Weather was grotty but it didnt stop us having a great time.
Stairs are a bit of an issue but fine if youre a bit younger than we are!
Very well equipped apartment, milk in fridge on arrival but unfortunately no tea or coffee!
Short of 2 hand towels and kitchen very damp but didn’t spoil our stay & certainly would stay again!

The view from the lounge was lovely. The main bedroom was spacious and comfortable but sadly the mould in the shower and in various parts of the property along with the old, fragile garden furniture left us very underwhelmed! There is also no BBQ or Laundry facilities as advertised. Would definitely return to Looe but sadly wouldn't stay at Plaidy.

This review is mainly accurate and fair.
The sealant on the shower tray has already been changed as the mould was ingrained and could not be cleaned. The small area of damp next to the entrance will be addressed this autumn as it is a big job and requires replastering etc. I honestly did not know the property description included a barbecue and laundry ,this has now been changed as we have never had a barbecue and the laundry was taken out some years ago, sorry about that.
One item i cannot agree on is the patio furniture ,it seems absolutely fine ,we have been using it ourselves this weekend. Thanks for the comments ,improvements have been made.
My wife( not me) would have liked to have known there was no access to laundry, and would have packed accordingly, the photograph of the balcony is a bit deceptive, in future just make it, clear that it is shared, the damp you have near the kitchen door will still need looking at. Having said that we enjoyed our stay and would return again( mates rates) because of the views from the apartment and its ideal location.
Wonderful apartment. Well equipped. Really comfortable. Clean. Excellent location. Wonderful views out to sea and up the river. Terrace is shared , with two other apartments. However, the views are amazing. A truly fabulous apartment in Looe. Thank you for letting us stay.
Wonderful apartment with outstanding views. Not for the less mobile you need to be energetic to tackle the walk from the car park followed by the slope and precarious steps up to the apartment. However if you have the energy the views are very well worth it. The apartment has everything you need we were sad to leave
The apartment is perfect for couples or families with older teenagers. Due to the location you have to put your car a 10 minute walk away which is fine. It's worth it for the views. The apartment is nicely kept clean and as everything you require. The only criticism I have is that midweek. We had a family move in above us with small children and it was very hard to get any peace and quiet for all the banging and walking around above us.

About the host

I live in Nottingham and after selling my business a couple of years ago i was in the fortunate position of being able to buy a holiday home in my favourite corner of the British Isles.
Why they chose this property
I have been visiting Looe nearly every year since i was 8 years old and have always loved this beautiful seaside town. This apartment has the best of all worlds, being on the west side, where you are away from the hustle and bustle of East Looe, yet you overlook everything, East Looe ,the river ,the pier ,and the bay. The beach, shops, bars and restaurants of East Looe are a 10 minute walk away.
What makes this property unique
Sitting on the terrace having breakfast, an evening meal or drink is just delightful, whilst watching the fishing boats return along the river or the sunset over the bay. Even in November there is a charm about Looe and taking in the view from the window seat of the apartment lounge is fantastic, whatever the weather.
