This is an amazing 4 bed 1.5 bath home filled with lots of creative character and warming charm. Perched atop the tree tops with beautiful ocean views yet walking distance to restaurants, coffee shop and massage studio and golf course. Enjoy all the space of the large property as well as a huge fenced/gated yard for dogs (complete with a cozy dog house). There is ample parking for both cars, boats or motorhomes which is a luxury here in Shelter Cove. Enjoy the open floor plan and large well stocked, newly remodeled kitchen which is ready for holidays and gatherings. There are two amazing large deck spaces that are perfect for entertaining, star gazing or a nap in the sunshine. Come enjoy all that the Lost Coast has to offer! Beautiful back sand beaches, shore/jetty fishing, kayaking, golf, hiking, mountain biking, and great food! Enjoy our Venezuelan restaurant -Mi Mochima as well as Gyppo Ale Mill, Shelter Cove Deli, Coffee shop, and Delgada Pizza and ice cream!!!

Lovely and homey inside and out!

We very much enjoyed our stay. The property was even cuter then the pictures showed. Our daughter is chef and love the kitchen and appliances. Everyone reported their beds were incredibly comfortable! We would definitely stay there again.

Great getaway!

Well stocked kitchen and a lovely cozy home!! The area is beautiful and we were a couple mins from the coast! Wildlife all over the place was nice and the restaurants we went to were good. It was harder to get fresh seafood to cook than expected but the people were friendly and helpful! We would definitely stay here again.

Shelter Cove is beautiful, and the house was magical. The decor, the comfy beds, the kitchen every inch of space inside and outdoor are something a nature lover, seeking a pacific coastal paradise needs. Ancient trees and ocean vibes with modern luxury, a little whimsy, serenity…. Checks all the boxes!!!

Best house with the most gorgeous backdrop

This is the perfect house for family getaways. We loved all the amenities and thoughtfulness put into the house. It was perfect for us and we really enjoyed the kitchen and the amazing decks! Host provided everything we could have needed and more.

Great views, quiet

This is a great place to stay! The kitchen is amazing! We appreciated how the property is back away from most of the other properties, with lots of nice trees. Evenings were cooler at times, so we were able to fire up the wood stove. We would definitely stay here again.

Enchanted Cottage

This was our second time staying here and we loved it just as much as the first time. The location of this property is the best in Shelter Cove. It's a perfect getaway from the city. We love all the plants this house has as well as the layout of the front and back yards. We will be back again at this house for sure.

My family stayed for the Thanksgiving holiday and everyone was so pleased with this stay! Such a comfortable cozy private spot next to the ocean. Waves and seals heard from the yard. The updated kitchen was lovely. Beautiful dog friendly grounds. We felt lucky to be there!

A beautiful vacation rental!

We all had a great time in this beautiful, rustic vacation rental. We had a total of four sleeping aling with various family members coming and going and could have easily slept four more not counting the large sectional sofa unit. There are large outdoor areas - fenced in - availablr for hanging out or laying in the sun. Beautiful tree-plentiful surroundings with ocean views from more than one direction. All in all a great place to stay!

Great stay on the lost coast

House is great for people and pets. Completely fenced in yard was great for the dog and our piece of mind. Great deck with firepit in the treetops. Kitchen is top of the line and great for large families. Great communication with owners. 55 and sunny, couldn't ask for a better day!

Nice fairy tale home

We loved the stay here ! Beautiful home and comfy stay. Very relaxing and chill environment . We were there on 4th of July weekend and a mountain lion ju Led fence but my Belgian Mal service dog scared it away. There was a black bear roaming around too and deer . Love the beach view and trees . Seriously one of my fave place I’ve been to. The road a bit rough on brakes but you get used to the drive after a few times. Thank you so much for having us .

Family vacation 💙

We absolutely loved this property. The house is stocked with all you need. The area is gorgeous, from both balconies you can see the ocean, there is amazing tree coverage to give you the full secluded feeling from neighbors. The mountain roads are no joke but had a great time taking our time on the drive. The general store defiently is a godsend has everthing you think you need but actually want 😅😊 and all the things you do need if you forgot something. The kids loved the yard ans hammock and had a great time exploring the town. What a treat it was to stay here, family time at its finest in natures beauty.

Perfect Getaway

Friends from separate areas of California convened in Shelter Cove for a girls trip. Waterfall cove house was wonderful. The pictures don’t do it justice in that it doesn’t show the landscaping (someone is obviously a plant lover) and the wonderful, sometimes quirky, decorating details. The space was cozy and soooooo quiet. From sitting on the back deck by the fire watching the sunset to having morning hot beverages on the upper deck or just watching a movie on the big soft sofa waterfall cove fit the bill after a day exploring the tidepools and redwoods.

Relaxing, quiet, beautiful place

This is a lovely house - great location that offers privacy, calm, views of the ocean, and nicely planned relaxation spaces both indoors and outside. Wonderful kitchen - easy to cook in! Comfy beds, good living room seating for conversation or watching TV, deck upstairs and patio off the kitchen with fire pit. Really lovely!

Perfect retreat

We loved staying here and our dog did as well. The fully fenced in yard let him roam the whole property. It is a very peaceful place to stay with great vibes in the home. Was able to hear the seals early in the morning. We love how secluded the house is and brought all of our own food as things are expensive there at the little store. We are looking forward to staying there again.

Great memories!

Initially we booked for 10 days, but after spending some time here, we extended it two more days. The house is fantastic, much larger inside than what appears on the site photo. I'm a fisherman, and brought my boat to use out on the ocean. After the first day backing it in and making sure of the track, it fit nicely along side the house on the south side. There is a turn out for smaller boats just off the driveway on the west. The house is stocked exceptionally well, meaning towels, ample bedding, even spices, cooking wares, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, and one of the most fantastic stoves that you can cook on. The deck is awesome at night for views of the sunset to the west, exceptional space for a dog if you have one. Celeste and Eric are the best, always responsive, ensuring all is good, and quick for answers and tips on the local places to go. The landscaping is amazing, lilies and other flowers are in bloom right now, which adds to the view. The entire property is fenced off with a mesh type of fencing, keeping out the big critters. We had a black bear view us outside the fence, but ran off when we spotted it one night with some friends. If you are a fisherman, this place is the bomb. My girlfriend caught so many fish, she has a permanent smile on her face. The local cleaning station down at the launch ramp is well kept, and cleaned everyday, one of the best I've seen for a public maintained station. Salmon bite was slow, but rockfish and ling cod were amazing. There is a tractor launch that launches your boat for a fee of $40.00 a day. Small boats can be launched on the ramp, but make sure you have waders, it gets shallow at low tide. Local bait shops have well stocked baits and ancillary tackle. Watch the weather, wind and swell forecast, some days were really bad and small craft warnings were out. We will be back next year. I know why they call this the Lost Coast.

Relaxing Tranquil

The property was just as advertised. Beautiful location, yard, and home. We only used 2 of the bedrooms, our young boys wanted to share. The kitchen is awesome. The oven and grill are great. The fridge is pretty and fit our stuff. The shower pressure is great. The beds were comfortable and the washing machine is great. As with other reviews, there is a smell in the upstairs bedroom, but we went nose blind pretty fast and very tolerable. We used the propane fire pit and had a blast. The view is great, the host gave great information. There is lots of wildlife. This is not the house, but surroundings review. There are 3 beaches we found, the 2 to the north are black rock beaches which are great. If you go south to the marina by the light house and go down, there is the black sand beach. If you can, stop outside of redwoods at a bigger town and get your groceries and have a cooler. There is a general store that is mostly stocked, but as with a small, remote town, prices are higher. There is also a place in town that serves food, but also has some frozen meat to buy. We were very happy with this home and the host.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. Comfortable beds and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the fog roll in and out. The pictures showed a trampoline which wasn’t there. We would stay here again!

Some things I would’ve liked to know

I’ve been visiting this area with my stepdad for about 10 years. I’m familiar with the culture and limitations with regard to its remote location. We stayed 5 nights here and enjoyed it with some exceptions. PROS: -Backyard for pets and primarily secure. -Enjoyed the pines & the slight ocean view when it was clear (usually after 2p...very common for this area). -Nice tucked driveway which offered a little more privacy. -Large dining area & just about everything needed to cook with in kitchen. -Laundry (esp after a day of fishing). -Nice outdoor area (could use an umbrella though). Loved the wooden bench. CONS - Check-in could’ve be improved by providing the code for lockbox prior...I had to call to retrieve it with very bad cell service. -Had to clean up a LOT of dog waste upon arrival. -The house in general was unkept. It had a dank smell which can be common so close to the ocean however, the septic off gas (methane) that runs into the pantry was foul. I brought Clorox wipes for all of the handles, remotes, light switches etc. and I was appalled with the amount of filth wiped off of these surfaces, particularly in light of COVID. The kitchen floor has not been properly mopped for who knows how long. It had brown/black food/dirts marks all over the off-white tiles. -The purple carpet had so many stains on it, I wondered how long it had been since it was steamed. (An achievable housekeeping chore with $150 carpet steamer). -Of all the windows in the house, only 3 had screens on them. This is unacceptable. -The slider lock was broke and a piece of wood was used to secure it. -The outdoor trash can needs to be a bear box type of enclosure. All we could manage to find was a square lid for a round can & stretched out bungee to secure it-a failure because we were visited by a bear(s). I did mention this to the owner and he assured me they would get one that week. Overall, we had a nice trip. Chartered twice, enjoyed black sands, rode bikes, walked our dogs everywhere, and enjoyed the time with each other, which was the main goal of the trip. When I read reviews I look for items that align with my preferences and hopefully this review with help others with their decision. Additionally, I hope the owners find it useful.

An amazing getaway!

We stayed at Celeste's place for 3 whole weeks and had the best time! Celeste was really helpful leading up to the stay, and even jumped on the phone to give us the check in directions and recommendations in the town. We also were always able to reach her by text throughout our time there with any questions. The house is a perfect place to getaway and had everything we needed to be there for a longer period of time. We loved spending time outside on both decks surrounded by trees, and they have done a really great job with the layout & landscaping of the place. The fenced in yard also allowed us to just let our dog roam free outside which was great! Overall, we had a really wonderful extended stay and would highly recommend Celeste's house! Thank you, Celeste!

Great getaway

The property was clean and welcoming. Our dog loved being able to roam on the fenced property and we loved not having to put him on a leash for the time he was outside. We loved the views of the ocean from the deck in the mornings and afternoons. Lovely area - we are definitely planning to return.

This was our second time staying at the Shelter Cove Charmer. The thing that makes this place great is the deck and the view. You feel like you're looking at the rain forest. It was a great place to host our relatives who live at Shelter Cove.

Charming Treasure in Paradise

We were so grateful to celebrate our 20 year anniversary at this charming home. This is a true treasure in the rough. The house is much larger than anticipated. Our stay was so relaxing and tranquil. The location is spectacular in the midst of beautiful trees and nature overlooking the ocean in the distance. We observed beautiful sunsets from the patio and had breakfast on the deck. Wildlife was abundant. Our dog enjoyed the security of the fenced yard that even had a dog house and dog bed included inside of it. There was plenty of amenities and the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking full meals if wanted. The home was an excellent condition for its age barring few minor conditions that can be expected through years of wear and tear. Touches such as remnants of the houses original design and incorporating pieces of nature (redwood shelves, seashells, etc.) made the home more delightful. Heaters and extra blankets were plentiful for the cooler evenings. Firewood was abundant if a fire was desired in a firepit or a wood burning stove. We have stayed in other vacation homes in this area but would be honored to stay in this home again. Though we did not need to have communication with host while there, they did provide all we needed prior to our arrival to facilitate check in. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you again.
