Beautiful five bedroom villa with sea views and pool in Kefalonia

Villa Velanidi is an exceptionally spacious villa nestled in the hills between Kourkoumelata and Kaligata in a peaceful and private location. New for 2014 is free wifi in the villa. The villa is constructed to the highest standards with air conditioning, pool, barbeque, views to the Ionian sea, and a large gardens. The ground floor comprises a spacious kitchen with oven, hob, and dishwasher; a dining area for 10; a large lounge with TV/DVD and a balcony looking out to the sea; a cloakroom; and double bedroom with en suite. The upper floor has one double bedroom with en suite and balcony, 2 twin rooms each with their own balconies, and one further bathroom. The lower floor opens to the pool and has a twin bedded room next to a bathroom. There is a further large casual area with towel pegs, pool and beach equipment storage space and casual seating. All bedrooms have a sea view. There is plenty of space for fun & relaxation.

The pool is a large at 5m x 9m with a veranda at one end for shade. There are large gardens, a barbecue and wonderful views of the sea and the mountains as well as olive groves and fruit trees. It is quiet with privacy and easy walks to the village of Kaligata, the village of Kourkoumelata and Avithos beach. The kitchen is fully equipped with tableware choices for inside or balcony dining. There is a washing machine and ironing facilities. There is easy storage for your beach/pool towels and games and a casual seating area on the lower floor as well as a table tennis table and equipment for your enjoyment. On those rare days you want to be inside the air conditioned living room has a flat screen TV & DVD player, lots of DVDs, games, and a library of books for your use. We provide linen and bath towels, cleaning 2-3 times per week and a welcome hamper on arrival. Our local agents are on hand for any local questions and help you may need.

Travel details: The airport is about 5 km or 10 minutes by car so you can maximise your holiday time. Villa Velanidi is not under the flight path so there is no noise from airplanes. There are charter flights from most UK airports from May to October; email us for details. There are daily scheduled flights from the Athens airport. Email us for details on discounted car rental in Kefalonia.
The drive from Athens is 2-1/2 to 3 hours plus 1-1/2 to 3 hours ferry ride.

Gardens: The poolside garden is a large grassed area which is perfect for lawn games or kicking around a ball and the villa has a badminton set which can be erected for use in this area. The gardens around the rest of the villa have flowers, shrubs and fruit trees. Farther away but surrounding the villa are dozens of olive trees.

Very nice stay here. Loved the long table on the balcony for eating out and the ping pong table. Wifi a bit iffy sometimes but we didn’t complain so maybe there was a fix we didn’t find.

Have stayed as an extended family here before and enjoyed so much booked again. Lovely, very clean, staff responsive, and views even better than I remember. Only caveats are that roads are a surprise to UK drivers being steep, narrow, barely negotiable without an adventurous spirit. WiFi provided a throughout of 2mb download and 0.5mb upload; very poor for 8 people to share, especially with 4 teenagers. Last thing was that none of the internal doors had locks on them so you were unable to lock your bedroom, or even the toilet when using it. One toilet could not be opened from the inside so I did wait 10 minutes for the kids to let me out as they were busy playing ping pong (great thing for all of us)

Family hols after covid

The property was exactly as described.we were a family of people from Germany and England as the first proper chance of a lovely holiday all together.The villa has plenty of space ,lovely views and very private.The grandchildren had a super time in the pool and could let off steam without annoying anybody and we didn’t have to keep saying be a bit quieter think of other people. The drive up to the villa is like taking a track of grid but after a few days you get used to it. The Lady that came to clean and change towels and linen did a super job and came 2 times a week. We really had a lovely relaxing hols and Kefalonia is a dream island which we have visited the last 3 times.We would stay at the Villa again as it is what you would want in a holiday let. Thanks Johanna for letting us stay.

Beautiful, spacious villa in a peaceful idyllic setting

The villa is in a beautiful countryside setting, the only noise you can expect is from the bells the goats wear around their necks, and the crickets. Despite this, it’s only a 1km walk to the nearest beach Avithios which has a couple of tavernas & a welcoming beach bar. The villa was well equipped, we were given a selection of essentials to start off our holiday - thanks for the cool beer & wine!!! The pool was perfect for us all with gentle steps for the older family & deep enough for the youngsters to dive bomb. It’s a great location to explore some of the beautiful Kefalonia coastline. We all wanted to stay longer....

Family Holiday

A fabulous villa in an excellent location. We have stayed at this villa on numerous occasions and have had an amazing time. The villa is spacious and well presented with all the facilities you could possibly need. The pool is a good size and very well maintained. There are a number of excellent tavernas within easy drive. A car is a must unless you enjoy long peaceful walks everywhere. Excellent local beaches are close by. Joanne, the owner, is professional and courteous and a pleasure to deal with. A thoroughly enjoyable week with our children and grandchildren. This villa would also be fantastic for groups of adults looking for a relaxing holiday.

A perfectly peaceful retreat

Villa Velanidi was perfect for our mixed group of adults and children. The villa was very spacious, with room for dining inside or out on the balcony. It was cool inside and the bedrooms were all a good size. The pool-level games room with table tennis and an additional fridge was really welcome. We used the barbecue a lot and made use of the outdoor shaded seating area. Provision of beach towels was great too, and does make a difference to the room you have in your luggage! It was a lovely villa, very peaceful but with a beach and taverna a 15 minute walk away, and other restaurants just a few minutes by car- Il Borgo is worth a visit. The nearest minimarket, Sagittarius, was very well stocked, and otherwise we went to AB supermarket up on the top road going towards Argostoli. We all liked the villa and would be happy to book again.

The villa was exactly as described.It was very clean, well maintained and comfortable. The booking process was easy and straight forward and the owners were helpful and willing to accomodate requests. We particularly liked the table tennis table and the pool. The owners provided a lot of equipment. games and books. The location of the villa was stunning. We would recommend this villa for a comfortable, private and relaxing holiday. Kefalonia was also stunning and the local beach was only a 10 minute walk away.

superb villa

Villa was beautifully presented and cleaned to a high standard. The villa location was lovely and quiet, but not too far from local beach with two taverna (realistically a 5 minute drive and we didn't encounter any other cars on the way there or back). Secluded and extremely private area, with no other villas next door or overlooking! The kitchen was well equipped; bathrooms were very clean; pool was comfortably warm in August but still refreshing! We spent many evenings, following either a trip to the tavernas or preparing a bbq in the villa, playing badminton, table tennis, cards or scrabble. Sea and mountain/country views were superb. There is a bumpy dirt road for the last 1/2 mile to reach the villa, that has no traffic usage or noise. Owners were really attentive to our holiday needs, nothing was too much trouble and we would definitely recommend this villa to friends, etc. Would also like to return again, if possible, next year! We were a party of four adults (in our 40's) with two teenagers(15 and 17). We all agreed we had relaxed and enjoyed our week's stay here and would book 10 days or 2 weeks next time!
