Tucked away in a peaceful bushy cul-de-sac, at Gumnut Cottage you will feel like you're a million miles away from it all, while only being a 5 minute drive to town.
This contemporary artist's cottage is the perfect mountain retreat for a couple, small family or an artist looking for inspiration whilst being encapsulated in the World Heritage National Park!
Gumnut Cottage is owned by an Australian artist who loves nature! You can see quirky touches and pieces all over the house, there is always something new you notice after every visit! The cottage itself is a mixture of cosy mountain comfort and modern living, with completely restored antique furniture and all the bells and whistles you look for in a home!
Gumnut backs directly onto the bush, there are no roads, no fences just you and the national park. The balcony is completely covered and has a sweeping view of nature making it an entertainer’s dream or the perfect place to sit and read a book and find that inspiration you’ve been looking for!
The large open planned bathroom has a massive bathtub for you to soak in after a long hike and rainshower that is full of natural light from the giant window overlooking the National Park is just sublime.
The bedrooms are bright and modern with high quality natural bedding with luxury bed linen, electric blankets for the colder months and ceiling fans for the warmer months. The bedding is supportive and soft, however if you prefer a very firm bed, we also have those mattresses available and can arrange that for your stay, just let us know when booking. One bedroom offers a desk area and a bookcase full of board games and books for you to peruse, and the other has a futon seat in it for a quiet reading spot looking out into the landscaped garden.
The slow combustion fireplace is perfect for the colder months. There is nothing better than curling up next to it and listening to the fire crackle, it is mesmerising! If it gets too cold thhere is also a gas heater that can compliment the fireplace.
There are good speakers for you to plug your phone into, and the television has a digital radio option as well as a DVD player. There are also a selection of DVD’s that you are more than welcome to watch and enjoy during your stay.
We are here if you need us and are more than happy to recommend some of our favourite local places to visit, you can phone any time, otherwise the place is yours to enjoy in peace.
Wood for the fire is not included in the rental. There is gas heating, but if you want to use the fire we suggest you pick up a bag of wood and kindle at the Blackheath service station on your way.

We had a lovely stay here, communication with the property manager was clear and timely, property was clean and well set up and exceeded our expectations.
We really enjoyed our time here. The cottage was wonderful, the hosts were very helpful, the location was really useful for sightseeing and the environment was beautiful. A very nice place to visit to relax and decompress.
We had a great stay at this property. The bathroom has a lovely bathtub with a view of the bush. The kids loved the garden and even saw a few kangaroos.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay & having the outdoor space facing onto the bush was lovely. Beds extremely comfortable & plenty of kitchen supplies which were very helpful. Cosy cottage but with room to move.
Great location - feels like you are in the bush, but you are only minutes away from shops, cafes, restaurants and easy access to some awesome bush walking tracks. Ideal place for a family or 2 couples.
We loved having the fireplace and the bathtub overlooking the bush, the outdoor deck for breakfasts in the sun was also stunning. We found this home had all that we needed and a lovely atmosphere inside and out. The hank you!
This property is unique in terms of its location at the edge of the beautiful Blue Mountains NP. We were greeted by a group of resident Rosellas and really enjoyed the peaceful surrounds. The cottage is well equipped and the host was very prompt and helpful with our queries ahead of arrival - a great stay!!

Really beautiful spot but needs better heating. Would advise you BYO elec
We had a lovely 4 night stay at Gumnut Cottage in the last week of August.
The cottage is very cozy and set in a very quiet street with beautiful bush surrounding the property. It was quite cold and windy so it was really nice to come back and be able to relax in front of the fire each evening.
The owners were easy to deal with and responded to any queries very promptly.
I would highly recommend this property. Blackheath is our favourite place to stay when visiting the Blue Mountains.
