The owners are John and Tomiko who love mountain hiking, ocean fishing and travel extensively often for one to three months at a time. John is a retired instuctor in international education and Tomiko is a retired international tour escourt.

Why they chose this property

Tomiko fell in love with this "Hobbit House" with its compact charm, mountain view, hummingbirds and proximity to Los Angeles and Pasadena. Sierra Madre is one of the safest towns in L.A. county. In front of our home we enjoy sighting coyotes, deers, and an occasional bear.

What makes this property unique

This cottage was originally built in 1927 as a weekend mountain cabin and completely renovated in 1997. One can still observe some of the original tiny cabins in the neighborhood. You can walk a few minutes to the historical Mt. Wilson Trail and museum. This hiking path was first cleared by General George Patton`s grandfather, Benjamin Wilson, and later improved by Harvard University for the mule drawn transport of the new observatory telescope to the top.
