The Juniper Cabin @ The MareGold Retreat - A peaceful escape

Come stay in the Juniper Cabin at the MareGold Retreat Centre. This cabin is constructed from all locally milled spruce and re-claimed white cedar. With large windows and views of the ocean, pond, field and forest this is a perfect cosy cabin to get away from it all. A queen bed, full bathroom (shower) and small kitchenette give you everything for a comfortable stay. Watch the ferry come and go as you sit on your private deck that has the best sunsets in all of Nova Scotia. If the evenings are a bit cold there is a full wood stove to make the cabin cosy for the evening. The Juniper Cabin is part of the MareGold Retreat Centre. The centre has programs, classes, music, trails, herbal gardens, ponds, clifftop ocean views and private coves. One thing to note - The MareGold Centre property is 100% non-smoking.


The MareGold Centre is a place to enjoy sunsets and quiet. Guests come here to unplug and enjoy the moment - this energy permeates throughout the property. None of the cabins has TVs and only one has internet. This is a place to be still, respectful and to connect with nature.

Victoria Beach

The tiny fishing village of Victoria Beach is at the end of the oldest road in Canada (Granville Road). It was once a thriving community with 5 stores, two gas stations, a fish processing plant and more but in the late 1990s the plant closed and many people left. Now the community is made up of local lobster fishers and an eclectic group of residents who have settled here from around the world.

Please note that it is a 30 km beautiful drive to the nearest service (Granville Ferry - Annapolis Royal)

A 100% refund is provided for travellers cancelling at least 30 days before check-in. A 50% refund is provided for travellers cancelling from 14 to 29 days before check-in. Super cozy cottage and relaxing weekend

The cottage was super cozy and the fireplace kept it nice and warm all weekend. The owner greeted us on arrival and showed us the map of their property with trails we could walk, and the locations of their other cottages they are in the works of building. They are all very beautiful with a true lodge/cottage feel to them and we look forward to returning to try out the other cottages that have amazing views of the water. They also have a look off platform down one of the trails that took our breath away, the view was stunning! we really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return next year. Thanks so much!

Relaxing and peaceful weekend away

The cottage was super cozy and the fireplace kept it nice and warm all weekend. The owner greeted us on arrival and showed us the map of their property with trails we could walk, and the locations of their other cottages they are in the works of building. They are all very beautiful with a true lodge/cottage feel to them and we look forward to returning to try out the other cottages that have amazing views of the water. They also have a look off platform down one of the trails that took our breath away, the view was stunning! we really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return next year. Thanks so much!

All the cabins are built by Russell who was a filmmaker and book publisher for 20 years. Maryna is an active medical herbalist and runs workshops, and classes, and sees patients through her herbal health business. Original from Ukraine; The family speaks English, Russian and Ukrainian.

Why they chose this property

When we saw this property with its almost kilometer-long coastline we knew this place was for us. The only thing here was an abandoned old farmhouse and overgrown fields - we built everything - trails, gardens, structures, put water and power, and brought back the fields.
