Stone Haus was exactly as listed. We enjoyed its walking proximity to restaurants, wineries and shops. The host responded within minutes when we locked ourselves outside—very appreciative. It’s a lovely, well-stocked home. We loved sitting under the big oak shading the back deck.
We couldn't have been more happy with our stay at Stone Haus. Our New Years weekend was the best! The home is tastefully decorated and spotless upon arrival. The kitchen was well stocked with all you need to make a longer stay more enjoyable. The beds were inviting and the bathrooms were each very clean. The property is in easy walking distance to several places to eat as well as a winery. Don’t miss this place if you’re looking for a relaxing time in Johnson City…this was the way to start off 2026!
We enjoyed our stay at Stone Haus! Excellent location one block off Main Street. Walking distance to Farmhouse Vineyards & Johnson City Coffee Co. House was well stocked and comfortable. Recommend to other guests.
Came to town for a family wedding and found this cute gem of a house. Amanda was a perfect host and the house was clean and cute.. Vintage but with modern updates. Beds and pillows were comfy and the house had all the basic amenities we needed for our weekend getaway. Location was perfect, too!
Very nice place in the Texas hill country. Amanda was easy to work with and her property was very clean and well maintained.
If the need ever arises that we need to stay in that area again. I would not hesitate to book in the future.
This stone house in Johnson City was perfect for our beginning of summer getaway. It is walkable to the shopping & restaurants at the town square & is convenient for outings to Enchanted Rock, Fredericksburg, Pedernales River SP, and LBJ State and National parks. It had a great kitchen for cooking and back deck and yard! We will be back!
Not only was the house perfectly located for our needs, it was close to restaurants and it was quiet. It is spacious and well appointed. And, it's CHARM was off the charts!
Amanda was super responsive to all communication and we expect to rent from her again.
For anyone wanting to explore the area...i highly recommend this rental!
We were in the area for a family wedding. It was great to have three of our adult children and their spouses all in one place. We spent a lot of time in the eating area and in the back yard when we were at the house. My adult children loved the Halloween candy bowl. We all enjoyed walking to the Coffee Co. and will highly recommend this location to our friends and family.
This is our second stay at Stone Haus. We enjoy the 4 bedrooms with comfortable bedding, 2 and a half bathrooms, roomy kitchen with all the food preparation necessities, big living room, Keurig with coffees, big back porch with seating and grill (with propane), fenced backyard, and location to walk to town restaurants and brewery. Highly recommend.

Thanks so much for the nice review and for choosing Stone Haus for your stay! We hope you came back for a 3rd trip! 😉
The house was adorable. The pictures did not do justice to how beautiful the house was. Amanda was easy to communicate with. We had a marvelous girls trip to see the legendary lights of Johnson City. They did not disappoint and the town was very adorable as well! Highly recommend to anyone!
The house is just as described in the listing, a cute Texas Hill Country Stone House. It's in a busy traffic area, but the inside of the house is quiet and just what you'd expect in an historic home. We all enjoyed the backyard and the proximity to the center of town and shops/restaurants. The host is super communicative and helpful and the house was clean and ready for our visit. We had a good time and the house was much roomier than any of us expected. The dogs and the people were happy!
We highly recommend staying here! This was an amazing place, spacious for our family group vacation! A room for each of us 3 couples with an extra room for dog cages with an exit door in each room leading outside! The patio and yard space was perfect for our furry friends and the location was perfect for us because it was just off the main road! Even though it was off the main road it was quiet. This house must have storm windows!
We were not expecting laundry detergent, plentiful towels, or shampoo & conditioner! It was an added touch of great service! Oh, and we can not say enough of about the complimentary coffee & tea options! Thank you so much for a worry free place to spend our family hiking vacation! It is the first of many stays to come!
The location was fantastic - we were a block away from a wine tasting, and 3-4 blocks away from multiple restaurant choices. We brought a lot of food and took much of it home due to the easy access to restaurants. Kitchen was stocked better than many places - actual heavy duty sauce pans and frying pans rather than cheap aluminum stuff, and all the accessories we needed from cookie sheet to vegetable peeler were there.
Being that close in town had a minor downside - literally, it's a block off 290 and a big service station is over the back fence. Traffic noise wasn't bad at night, though. No big deal, but sitting on back porch at night didn't have as much of a country feel with the lights from the service station over the fence. But again - no big deal - the location offered more benefits in terms of walking distance than any downside. The back yard is large and fenced in, so our big dog was happy back there.
The house was as pictured and very cute. It met our needs while we visited the area. You never know by looking at a picture what the house will smell like when you walk in & everything smelled fresh and clean! I would stay in this property again. The bedding and towels were super soft and everything smelled new and freshly laundered. We came with our dogs who enjoyed the yard, even with the drought conditions leaving the grass mostly dried. We enjoyed that the house was walking distance to restaurants and sights in Johnson City. We visited the lumberyard area and would recommend the restaurant located there. It would be a great property to enjoy with adults as each bedroom has a private exit door. The bedrooms along the rear of the house do get pretty warm, but the guests in that room were able to sleep. I do wish I would have known that the rear of the property is a gas station. There was an unlockable gate to the gas station parking lot in the backyard as well as an open walk thru to the gas station. Without knowing the area, it was a bit uncomfortable knowing anyone from the gas station could walk directly onto the property. We were a bit uneasy about having our little girls play in the yard due to this.
We enjoyed the mural along the driveway and were able to capture some cute photos. We appreciated the cleanliness of the home and would come back for an adult trip.

Thank you for the nice review. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I believe the door in that back bedroom needs to have the weather strip replaced and that should fix that. We’ll take care of that this week.
Johnson City is a very safe and very small town. My entire family, including nephews, have stayed there. I will add a lock to the gate, although we nor any guests have ever experienced any trespassing. We appreciate the feedback.
Great location, house was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked as well as bathrooms. Beds very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay. Amanda was very accommodating and friendly. Overall I would definitely recommend this home to friends and family.
One block off Main Street. Two blocks from the town square. This house is located perfectly for walking to wining, dining, and shopping in town. It’s also a great gathering spot after spending a day at the fabulous wineries more on east end of 290 (William Chris, Lewis, Siboney, Ron Yates, French Connection).
We easily and comfortably slept 7. Nice kitchen and living area. This was our second time here, and we will return.
We had a wonderful stay. Our only suggestion would be to either add a window unit to the back bedroom and/or weather strip the outside door in that room. . It stayed rather warm all weekend. Other than that, we had a great time. The house was very comfortable, and we loved the location. We will definitely recommend to friends and family.
