Come relax in a Tranquil Cottage on Island Lake!

Charming LAKEFRONT home, right on the shore of Island Lake Kubash Bay, straight north of Duluth. Living room w/ gas fireplace & large window to beautiful sunset views, and water’s edge deck! Redecorated in 2022! HOSTS STAY in the LOWER LEVEL apt of the house, to give guests the top 2 floors to themselves (w/ their own entrance). 20-25 min to Canal Park/downtown, 17 min from the mall area, in a setting that is the best of both worlds: “Northwoods” peace & nature, w/ amenities & nearby conveniences of a rural city area!

*** DOCK IS REMOVED from the lake approximately Oct 15th. BACK IN the lake approx. May 15th. (Likely paddleboat & inflatable SUP also, but this is more weather-dependent)

* Many STAIRS from street level down to the house & lake (see pics).

[Gnesen Township Permit STR #23-04]. **PLEASE review the HOUSE MANUAL on site (in binder by the entry door).

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
We’re sorry we cannot accommodate guests’ pets. We have 2 cats of our own, who live in the lower level (One is outdoor also). And fenced chickens.
We always require a valid Gov ID (Ex. driver’s license) for the primary/paying guest. Please text a pic of the front to me or attach it in the message
REMOVE SHOES inside. If needed for wooden floors/stairs, please bring house shoes/slippers, or keep shoes on for safety, if need be.

The house was perfect for a relaxing weekend at the lake. Great views from the deck and the large window in the living room. The screened seating area was perfect in the evenings. Great kitchen - outfitted with plenty of cooking supplies. Ange and Erich were great hosts - lots of communication before and during our stay. Great place for a stay on the lake.

What a wonderful space to getaway! Ange was so great with communication and even helped me find a place to eat for my birthday! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Cute and cozy place with an amazing view. Nice to have a covered spot for my vehicle and even though there are stairs down to the place, it didn’t feel like a big hike. It was just the reset I needed and I didn’t want to leave :) Can’t wait to visit again someday when plants are in bloom and/or in the fall.

Super easy to find (especially with the great communication from the hosts)! The location was outstanding—quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful, yet still close enough to Duluth and multiple state parks for easy exploring. Here’s a polished review you can post:We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin on Island Lake, Minnesota. The property was even better than the photos, with breathtaking lakefront views and everything we needed for a perfect family getaway.I stayed here with my two boys (ages 10 and 14), and there was no shortage of things to do. We spent our days paddleboarding, swimming in the lake, enjoying barbecues, and relaxing around the fire pit in the evenings. It was the perfect combination of fun and peaceful relaxation.The cabin itself was spotless, beautifully maintained, and felt almost brand new. Everything was in excellent condition and worked perfectly, making our stay completely stress-free.What really stood out was the hospitality of the hosts. During a temporary power outage affecting the area, they went above and beyond by starting the generator so we had electricity while the outage lasted. They were incredibly responsive, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about making sure we were comfortable.I would wholeheartedly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful lakeside retreat, whether it’s for a family vacation, a romantic getaway, or simply a relaxing weekend to unwind. We made some amazing memories here and would love to come back!

Perfect Island Lake Reservoir Retreat!

Great house on a quiet bay! The accommodations were modern, clean & comfortable. Two of the best VRBO hosts! Clear communication before, during, and after our stay. So many great amenities inside and out (fire pit, small beach, great dock and water toys)! We will book again! Thank you for a great stay!

Wonderful Stay

We can't say enough about the place or the hosts. The place was very clean and comfortable. There are many nice features about the place; modern kitchen, zoned air conditioning, wifi and electronics. We brought a boat and could dock it in a safe and protected cove, away from the winds and waves of the main lake. The hosts were very helpful and kind. They were easy to contact to ask questions, yet were very respectful of our privacy. We will definitely be going back for another stay.

Nice Tranquil Place

The nice calming effect was exactly what we needed! Looking out over the lake was so beautiful as well as peaceful. The property came with everything we could possible need. It is also a perfect distance from town, far enough but not that far to enjoy what Duluth had to offer. Ange and Erich made themselves available to us if we needed anything. We are quiet people, but love hosting nonetheless! We both work full time, and love life on the lake, gardening, and long walks. We do our best to live an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle too!
We let our guests be, to enjoy their stay, but are happy to say hello to anyone who’d like to. We don’t have a lot of free time to enjoy our beautiful lake property, so it makes us very happy to be able to have others enjoy it! All are welcome!
