Our Kauai cottages include this one across from the world famous Brennecke Beach and steps from sunny Poipu Beach. Hale Kahakai Punahele (The House of the Cherished Seacoast) is arguably located in one of the best beach locations in Poipu. With its incredible unobstructed oceanfront views over a small lane fronting the beach and quaint island-style cottage furnishings, this continues to be one of our most popular Kauai vacation rentals.

What a jewel!

Loved our stay-perfect location, close to the beach and the restaurants etc but in a quiet neighborhood. We have two teenage boys that thought it was perfect. We will definitely be back!!

Wonderful location

Excellent location with beautiful view and easy access with five minute walk along coastline to reach beach and a really nice park. I picked this house because of covered porch area with eating area and lounge chairs looking out at ocean. Same view from living room. Very relaxing.

Great Poipu Location

Great little ocean front home, with nice walkable proximity to nearby food, coffee, park, etc. Porch was wonderful. House could use a little updating & an A/C unit in 2nd bedroom; however we spent most of our time outdoors exploring, so it wasn’t much of an issue.

Beautiful ocean view in Poipu

Beautiful ocean view from the porch!!!! Charming 2 bedroom, 2 bath with air conditioning in the master bedroom (set to 72 as the lowest). In the living room, kitchen and 2nd bedroom with 2 twin beds, we had screened windows open and fans going. Cute kitchen to cook meals of your own. Great Location in Poipu!

Poipu Paradise

We had a wonderful stay! Everything was as described and we even had a couple of boogie boards and snorkel gear to use as well. A one minute walk to Brenneckes beach and easy access to Poipu Beach Park and beyond. Short walk to Shipwreck Beach and walk along the cliffs. It was nice to be able to come and go easily to beach and not pack up a car or wagon. We did not have to use our car unless we ventured further to restaurants or other parts of the island. Ho’one Rd did get a little busy at times at sunset but we could always enjoy the view. Definitely recommend this property!

Love love love

We have been eying this property for years and finally had a chance to book it. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. Check-in process was super easy which is great. From the time you walk up to the door, you can see the ocean (literally through the front door). The house totally gets it done inside, even for me, as a remote workspace. We found everything we needed inside as well, but let's face it, we couldn't wait to spend every minute we could outside! We could watch the sunset from just about any window...so beautiful. Thank you!

Fantastic beach house

We had the absolute best vacation at this house! We went with our adult son who loves the ocean as much as I do. He body surfed every day, and we rented a surfboard walking distance down the street from the surf shop so he could surf at the Sheraton and PK in front of the Beach House restaurant. Although the house was very hot and stuffy upon arrival, as soon as we opened the sliders and the windows and turned to the AC unit on in the master bedroom and closed the door to the master bedroom, our room cooled it down quickly. It was a hot summer day, so it took a while for downstairs to cool down, but there were plenty of fans to use. The kitchen was fully stocked with all of the glassware pots and pans that you would want to cook. We generally ate breakfast and lunch at the house and went out for dinner. The bathrooms were clean and the water pressure was pretty good for the showers. There’s even an outdoor shower, which was awesome when you come back from the beach the location of this house is perfect and we worked everywhere. We rented Pedigo bikes one day, but if you’re not an experienced e-bike rider you need to be careful as there are no bike lanes on the roads. The beach umbrella was missing its pole to put into the sand, but we only tried to use it once. There was a whopper, i.e. small boogie board used for body surfing, but no actual boogie boards in the closet. However, you can cheaply rent them down the street from the surf shop. I can’t wait to go back!

Excellent location and wonderful stay!

We stayed at this property the first week in June and enjoyed ourselves very much. The location is of course a major selling point but the house is also very nice. Last year we stayed, at the same time of year, at a property two houses down so we had already been sold on the location. The house itself is very nicely furnished and as my wife likes to say, "it is real cute". Pretty much everything that you would need, is furnished in the house. There are a couple things that would keep us from giving a five star rating and those are maintenance issues that should probably be taken care of. The refrigerator door tends to come open very easily, and doesn't seem to stay closed real well at times, especially when closing the freezer door. You close the freezer door and the refrigerator door comes open. We had to watch this closely to make sure it was always closed as well as can be. This is a maintenance issue. There are several of the windows that do not lock or latch. They could easily have been opened from the outside and given full access to the house. I'm not too sure how good the security issue might be around this area when you are gone or at night, but it really should be fixed. I wasn't too concerned during our stay but my wife wasn't as comfortable knowing that some windows couldn't be locked. In the picture of the front porch, it shows two lounge chairs on the porch. There is only one and that second chair would have been really nice but I don't know what happened to the other chair. It also would have been nice if there had been a couple of lawn chairs. The house next door, managed by the same company, had lawn chairs but none at this house. I don't know if this is the property owners issue but it would have been nice. All in all we did enjoy our stay here. Kauai is always a beautiful place to visit.

We originally saw this property on our honeymoon in 2012 and determined to stay at it once our kids were old enough. Having a 6 and 4 yr old, this close to the beach and an amazing house to boot, by far the best location you could ever ask for!

Amazing location

Fantastic location right across the street from the ocean. Loved sitting on the patio and watching turtles. short walk to one beach great for boogie boarding and another for snorkeling. House was comfortable and kitchen well stocked. We were worried about the downstairs bedroom not having air conditioning, but with the upper windows open, the ceiling fan on, and bringing in the fan from upstairs, our adult kids were comfortable. We left the master bedroom door (upstairs) open at night and ended up not even using the air conditioning in that room. We were very sad to leave. Not a ton of restaurants within walking distance, but was fine for us. Only suggestion would be for rental company to give more info prior to arrival... our flight on a Sunday was delayed and we didn't know if we would have the access code for the house on arrival (fortunately, they sent it to us before arrival). There was a welcome packet telling us where to park inside the house, but it would have been great to have that info before arrival. They were very communitive and helpful otherwise and those are very minor suggestions. We would LOVE to stay there again! It was exactly what we needed this year. Many people walking by actually took pictures of the house (I think to consider renting in the future).

Superb location

This is a charming cottage in an unbeatable location. The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of disposables (such as toilet paper and trash liners) for a lengthy stay. We were very comfortable.

Great location!

We loved the location of this house, just steps from Brennecke’s and Poipu. The house is clean and well appointed. The view from all rooms, except the second bedroom, is outstanding. The house has a little wear, and we were fine with that given the location and price point. Two issues though need to be resolved before we would rebook: the lack of adequate air conditioning and the slope in the master bed. Because of the AC issue, the house cannot sleep more than one couple comfortably in warm weather. We don’t regret staying there though. The location and lanai can’t be beat.

The location of this home is perfect! The beach is a good place for snorting, boogie boarding, surfing, or just playing in the water. The best part though is just sitting on the porch watching the waves and the turtles.

Great house with a perfect location

Just spent a week at the home. It has a great location just steps from Brennecke's and Poipu beach. The lanai is wonderful for viewing the sunset. Snorkel equipment, beach chairs, boogie boards and umbrellas are included which was quite convenient. The upstairs bedroom has a great oceanfront view and the mattress was quite soft and comfy. The downstairs bedroom has two twin bed. I highly recommend the home and would gladly return on our next trip.

Can’t wait to come back here!

The house is a magical seaside cottage that will blow you away. When we weren’t galavanting on adventures around the island, we treasured time relaxing on the lanai’s comfortable chaise lounges, porch swing, and loveseat, enjoying the soft Kaua’i breeze, view and sounds of crashing waves and people-watching. The beds were comfortable, everything is impeccably clean and organized and the charm of The House of the Cherished Seacoast never wears off. You’ll even find ample snorkeling gear, coolers, beach chairs, beach umbrella and boogie boards in the hall closet for your free use! Everything about booking, checking in (Crystal is the BEST!) and staying here was sublime. My sadness about having to leave at the end of our trip was only mitigated by my treasured memories and confidence I’ll be back!

Charming house in excellent location...perfect place to stay on Kauai

First, I have to compliment the Parrish Kauai organization that manages this house. Their customer service is outstanding. They are so on top of it! Their phone App made so many decisions easy, and also made communication with them a breeze. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived. The bedrooms are very comfortable, and the kitchen was fully appointed. The very best part of this house, though, is the porch. We spent each morning sitting on the chaise lounges, sipping Kona coffee, and listening to the waves. There is tons of wildlife right across the street. Each time we snorkeled from that beach, we encountered sea turtles. A little way down the beach, just past baby beach, there was a Monk seal who slept on the beach all day long, and only 20 yards farther there was a sleeping sea turtle! The location of this house is great for touring the island, and the weather on this side of the island is reported to be less rainy. If I go back to Kauai, I will make sure I go when I can stay here again. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!
