Charming penthouse with a balcony with total privacy and lovely views over the sea, perfect to enjoy sunbathing or alfresco dining, a bedroom with views to the mountains, a dining/living room, a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette. This apartment is on the top floor of a typical architecture building with only four apartments, one on each floor. Owning to its situation you can breathe the sea breeze and listen to the sea waves. There is a bar next door will music on weekends until midnight. Just crossing the street you have the seaside resort Barreirinha. Nearby there are the natural beaches in the pebble “Calhau São Tiago” and “Touco”. Centrally situated in the Old Town with lovely fish restaurants, pubs, bakery, cafes, the very typical Market and all the amenities around it. No car is necessary, everything is in a short walk. The Funchal promenade or the center of Funchal is five minutes walk.

Great location and a comfortable home from home

A super location with very good facilities and a great view from the balcony. The flat was clean and comfortable. Our host Elsa was very helpful, reliable and friendly and gave us tips for local restaurants and activities on arrival. We would be pleased to tell our friends an family about the property. Would love to return.We particularly loved the views.

Billiant location, great views

The property is just as described and the location is perfect with great sea views. There is a Lido area right below you as well as a really nice bar that sometimes has excellent music in the evenings. The area is popular with locals and visitors alike but has a really nice ambience. Elsa is really friendly and a mine of information she will for a small charge pick you up or drop you off at the airport if you give her enough notice.

Perfect appartment with everything required

Location stunning with lovely balcony to sit and relax and watch the cruise ships come and go .Everything in the description accurate and the property was clean and well maintained .Lots of lovely restuartants and local bars close by . Easy access to everything.No problem with music from bar underneath in fact would recommend using as it was popular with locals all day and food good too .Would recommend and would like to return

Fantastic apartment in Down-town

This apartment is very well located: nice eastern site of Funchal, close to the water, down-town, balcony with fantastic view, enough space for 2 persons with all equipment you need. Parking is only possible in a garage 5 min away for the total day 10 €. During the week it is calm, Fr/Sat. music from the street could be a topic. But you're not booking down-town for relaxing!

This rooftop apartment has a lovely welcoming feel to it and is in a fantastic location just outside of the 'Old Town' . Although its not very modern it is very well equipped with kitchen appliances and lounge furniture and we certainly had all we needed for our recent stay. The accommodation is across the road from a lido complex which is usually open until 8pm. Next door is a small bar frequented by locals and visitors alike and which is very popular at weekends - noise level was quite high on the Friday but not a problem for us. The apartment is in walking distance of a huge number of restaurants. In our opinion an ideal location for those who want to do their own thing.

A lovely high ceilinged appartment with balcony overlooking the sea, well placed for the Old Town

Nice, airy third floor apartment, a short walk from the heart of the Old Town. Excellent pavement café right outside, overlooking the sea. (Live music or DJ on Friday and Saturday but not very late and certainly didn't bother us). Our lovely hostess Elsa offers airport pick-up for less than the taxi fare if she's free. Finding the place from public transport drops might be a challenge: find the narrow restaurant packed Rua de Santa Maria and keep walking East (7-8 mins) until you hit the café Barreirinha (mentioned above). If you are more than a couple there are good sofa-bed options or the scary mezzanine. Note that the bathroom entrance is off of the main bedroom. If we return to Funchal we wont be looking for anywhere else.

Arrived to find we were relocated

Unfortunately we cannot comment as we were relocated upon arrival in Medeira. The host relocated us which was a big surprise as we were not advised with no explanation. It was not the Old World Charm we were looking for and we’re disappointed, but it turned out quite nice. Just felt that better communications could have taken place. Bob

Lovely place to stay

The apartment is situated in a great area overlooking the ocean. Great views. It is very comfortable and convenient for many restaurants. Inside plenty of seating for 2 and 4 at a push. Kitchen has all that is needed to make a meal to allow you to self cater if you want to. The balcony is great to sit out to eat, drink or just watch the activity at the cafe down below. The downside of the cafe is the noise of staff clearing up at the end of the day and Friday night music , which may suit younger people!! Saying that it didn't bother us too much as just closed the doors. All in all we enjoyed our stay and found Elsa very helpful, especially when we locked ourselves out. Her daughter arrived within an hour to let us in.

Lovely Apartment

We had a wonderful stay in this apartment which is a couple of minutes walk from Funchal old town. It's at the eastern end of Funchal within a few minutes walk to many bars and restaurants and it's also great for Funchal sightseeing as everything is in reasonable walking distance. This apartment is in the town, so you will experience Funchal life including the normal town noises like the local dogs barking occasionally, the church bells ringing (though they do stop at 9pm), the odd bit of traffic noise and music from the local bar..... BUT it is simply the hubbub of life in a quiet part of town well away from the high rise Hotel area. We loved the flat because it is well equipped and so we could eat in if we chose, but also because there are lots of things in easy walking distance. The owner has provided lots of very helpful things to help with your stay (like maps, guides and recommendations) and the cleaning service is excellent. This was a bit like a little home away from home, but with a lovely sunny south facing balcony where we could just sit in the sun some days (even in January). We had such a wonderful stay that we will definitely return. Just a couple of points for others looking to stay at the flat... it does have a few flights of steps, so would not suit the infirm and like many streets in Madeira, there are lots of cobbles - so take some thick soled shoes :-)

Een appartement op een toplocatie

Het appartement met dit geweldige uitzicht op zee dat is toch wel een groot pluspunt. Een groot nadeel is op vrijdag en zaterdagavond de irritatie van de keiharde muziek van de discotheek die voor het appartement in de buitenlucht wordt gehouden . Op de andere avonden is er een andere irritatie dat van de blaffende honden. Het appartement is op de derde verdieping dus wel veel trappen.

Das Apartment ist perfekt in der Altstadt gelegen und Restaurants und Supermarkt sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Die Ausstattung der Küche ist hervorragend und sogar eine Waschmaschine ist vorhanden. Sehr nette und unkomplizierte Vermieter. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Unterkunft in Top Lage mit sehr viel Charme und traumhafter Aussicht auf das Meer

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Elsa ist eine super nette und hilfsbereite Vermieterin. Sie hat uns vom Flughafen abgeholt und uns für die Wohnung und die Umgebung alles super gut erklärt - vielen Dank dafür noch einmal! Die Wohnung hat einen ganz zauberhaften Charme und sie ist gut eingerichtet. Die Aussicht aufs weite Meer von der kleinen Dachterrasse ist wunderschön. Die Lage ist perfekt um die Stadt zu Fuß zu erkunden und das Schwimmbad direkt vor der Haustüre hat uns zum Baden viel Spaß gemacht. Die Bar unten im Haus ist von Donnerstag bis Samstag sehr lebendig und auch etwas laut, hat uns aber nicht wirklich gestört, denn mit Ohrstöpsel und Türen schließen konnten wir trotzdem sehr gut schlafen. Die Bar hat auch ihren Vorteil, denn es gibt gutes Essen, feine Drinks und guten Kaffee. Wir würden diese Wohnung sofort wieder buchen. Ganz liebe Grüße an Elsa

Weihnachten in Funchal

Die Lage, die Terasse und die Aussicht davon ist super. Zu zweit ist die Wohnung hervorragend geeignet. Die Empore ist unserer Meinung nach nicht geeignet, da der Aufstieg bzw. Abstieg sehr beschwerlich und auch für Kinder ungeeignet ist. Die Einrichtung ist auch schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Das schlimmste jedoch ist die darunter liegende Bar. Als Gast in der Bar super, jedoch als Gast der Wohnung ziemlich anstrengend, da wenn die Bar geschlossen wird, der Krach erst richtig losgeht. Natürlich mitten in der Nacht. Die Aufräumarbeiten sind auch bei geschlossenen Fenstern noch zu hören. Das ist auf Dauer ziemlich nervig und muss man wissen. Wer jedoch mit diesen Einschränkungen leben kann, bekommt eine sensationelle Lage und Aussicht geboten.

Old town Funchal great location

This apartment is in a great location for exploring Funchal and the balcony overlooking the ocean is fantastic! The apartment is just as advertised but could benefit from a bit of updating. We enjoyed our week there very much. Be aware that the upstairs loft is a very steep climb! And the bathroom is off the downstairs bedroom so it's really only suitable for two people or a family. We would recommend this property.

Gemütlichkeit und Wohlfühlen abseits von Luxus.

Sehr schönes Appartement in hervorragender Lage inmitten der Altstadt Funchals. Als Besonderheit dieses Appartments möchten wir den Balkon hervorheben . Zu jeder Zeit , ob nach Sonnenaufgang im Pyjama beim Kaffee , oder abends beim Auslaufen der Schiffe konnten wir romantisch die Seele baumeln lassen. Ein Piscine vor der Tür. All das ist Lebensgenuss pur. Abseits des Tages bleiben eine Vielzahl von interessanten Möglichkeiten von hier aus die Insel zu erleben ,ob bei einem Glas Wein in der Bar vor der Tür unter Madeirensern, oder per Bus die Insel kennen zu lernen. Wir können dieses Appartment nur weiterempfehlen. Herzlichen Dank Elsa.

Gem of a place with beautiful views - best view we've had ever I think. Fab location so glad we stayed here and not up in the Hotel Zone and it was superbly equipped and clean. We walked everywhere and had some great meals. Elsa's daughter Maria was extremely accommodating. Will definitely stay here again we still have the levadas to do but didn't have appropriate footwear. All in all a great stay. Only thing I would say is to warn people about the café/bar downstairs - not a problem for us but it was noisy on Friday and Saturday evening as the Madeirans like to party!

Toller Urlaub auf Madeira

Die Insel ist sehr interessant und der Aufenthalt war sehr schön. Geau so verhält es sich mit unserer FeWo. Tolle Lage. Die Einrichtung ist zweckentsprechend. Alles notwendige für zwei oder drei Personen vorhanden, sehr sauber und ordentlich. Kurze Entfernung zur Altstadt. Eigener Parkplatz, wie im Online- Inseratangebote, war leider nicht vorhanden.Straßenparkplätze immer voll. Parkhausgebühr zwei Straßen weiter jedoch mit 6,00€/Tag sehr moderat. Wir waren sehr zufrieden!

Lot´s of things we can do without needing a car: Sunbathes at the balcony with lovely views to the sea; Swimming just crossing the street; Quiet romantic walks at the seaside or cross the town and enjoy the busy city life; Visiting the typical market, the best day is Friday morning; Enjoying a coffee or a meal in the many coffee shops/ restaurants around or in the lovely bar downstairs Barreirinha Bar Café.
