Beautiful quirky old cottage in a lovely village. The upstairs floors are not level and there is a large step down into one of the bedrooms which, for us, just added to its character. There are also steps up into the bathroom downstairs. The outside area is also uneven and the path to the cottage is uneven and narrow and in some places overgrown. The cottage was comfortable and warm and well equipped. The village has a variety of shops and eating places including a grocery store and fish and chips. We thoroughly enjoyed our opportunity to imagine how it must have been to live when the cottages were built

Great location, ideal for nice walks or visiting Matlock. Cottage was well equipped, very clean and tidy. Lovely comfortable lounge area, bedrooms were large and enough storage space for clothes etc.

What a lovely old cottage. Up a back lane so it was quiet. Very comfy. Well kitted out. Everything you need to be fully self catering. We had a minor problem at the beginning of our stay but Leslie got it sorted quickly. Cromford is a nice village. However there is currently only one pub open for evening meals and as a consequence we could never get a table. The village store is brilliant and well stocked, and so is the fish and chip/ kebab take away. Less than a mile to Matlock bath with plenty of places to eat.Two Mills to visit. Cromford mill has a small exhibition and a number of units of small craft and antique businesses plus a cafe open daytimes. Lovely walk along Cromford Canal with a nice day time cafe there too. With Masson mill further up the hill where you can see historic fabric manufacture.The area generally is beautiful and well worth visiting with this excellent cottage being an ideal base. I definitely recommend it.

Beds were comfortable. Rooms, kitchen, bedding and bathrooms were all very clean. Lovely touches like tea and coffee, washing up liquid and cloths. Warm cottage, close to everything and spacious enough for our family of five. Such a nice place to have an Easter weekend. We hope we will return

This cottage is larger than the photos given credit and is a beautiful place. It was easy to find and to park. As you enter there is a lovely seating area and view. The sound of running water into the bear pit was a pleasant treat. I don't want to give much away as we loved unearthing all the quaintness of the property. We will be back.Location wise, this was also perfect. Short walk to the village, we would recommend the Boat Inn. You can walk to Cromford Mills with Matlock a short drive away.
