This is a clean, comfortable, French home in the countryside. Plenty of room for six adults and kids too. And Carole the host is wonderful.Only a few minutes to Bayeux and centrally located for Normandy sites includo g: Mount Saint Michel, the D-Day landing sites, Honfleur, and Etretat.
Such a gorgeous place! We had everything we needed in a warm and cozy home (and cozy doesn’t mean small, just very welcoming.) Great location for visiting Normandy beaches, and we ate well in Bayeux for dinner! Wish we had more time to visit the local towns as well as the seaside. Absolutely lovely stay!
Carole and Stephan were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is large, recently renovated and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well equipped. Lots of sleeping space. Peaceful area with a private garden and drive. Would stay again!
This was our first trip to Bayeux/Normandy area and this beautiful cottage was everything we anticipated and more. The interior was exactly as the pictures represented, and all that I had envisioned a country cottage in France might be. The hosts/owners have painstakingy restored this accommodation, and have only recently utilized it as a vacation rental. Its character and charm are captured wonderfully by Carole and Stephan, who were gracious and communicative hosts. Beds and pillows were comfortable, and the kitchen space plentiful for what we needed (mostly making coffee before heading out to explore!). The cottage is tremendously convenient to Bayeux and the Normandy beaches, which were easily reached by car. The accommodationn is clean, bright, and tastefully decorated, which shows the pride of ownership in the property, which has been in Carole's family for generations. It is an easy call to book this accommodation again on our next visit to the area.
A very well presented and equipped property. Was lovely to meet the host on arrival for a very pleasant handover. Communication was also on point and nothing was to much trouble. They even let us check out a little later to accommodate our travel plans. Would highly recommend this property
We had a warm welcome when we arrived from Carole, the owner. She showed us around the house and it was beautiful. It was perfectly located for what we wanted to do in the area.
The house has been beautifully and lovingly renovated to offer a true home from home stay. Everything you need, plus things you didn’t think of, are provided. We were all very comfortable and slept very well. We enjoyed everything the area has to offer - World War 2 sites and museums, the incredible Bayeux Tapestry, beaches, eating in and out, stunning architecture... Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly, and we were very sad to leave.
Beautiful property, but not a great fit for our group
The property and home are absolutely beautiful. The kitchen is functional and there is plenty of sleeping space (five bedrooms, not the four mentioned in the listing). The automatic gate ensures privacy in an idyllic rural setting. However, there are several things in the property listing that are unclear that we wish we knew before booking:- AC is only available in the kitchen and main room downstairs. There are no fans. The twin rooms on the top level can only be ventilated via skylights that are difficult to open and cannot be used in inclement weather.- The two twin rooms upstairs do not connect and are only accessible by two separate staircases. One of these staircases is inside the red queen bedroom with the ensuite. The other staircase is only accessible through the other upstairs queen bedroom. The staircases are not easy to navigate, so if someone needs to use the toilet during the night, they will wake up everyone in the room at the bottom of the stairs.- This house has two full ensuite bathrooms and one separate toilet. Only the toilet on the ground level has a door. The two ensuites have no doors. This did not work for our particular group and created a huge inconvenience.- While the property is in a beautiful rural setting, the house sits right on a busy road. We found it to be very noisy, even at night, with the windows open.
My family spent four days in the Normandy area. We chose the home of Stephan and Carole. For the last four years Stephan and Carole restored their family farmhouse into the prefect retreat. After spending 4 days in a 215 square ft apartment in Paris my family enjoyed separate bedrooms, there are 5 in all, and large yard for the kids to run in. Five miles outside Bayeux, it was perfectly situated for Dday explorations, the tapestry of Bayeux, a visit to Mt Saint Michele, and HonFluer. The kitchen is well equipped if you chose to cook your meals or great restaurants are within 8 minutes. Charming, warming and welcoming this farmhouse is the prefect rental for a family or two to call home during your trip to Normandy. A must rent!
The property was immaculate and breath taking. This property has been in Carole's family for generations and you could feel the care and love. She was warm and beyond helpful. Perfect stay and we hope to be back!
Lovely property with quirky features, well equipped and great for a party of adults. Easy location only a few minutes from Bayeux and the Normandie beaches
