Why the Owner Chose Haiku: We first saw this property in 1994 and immediately fell in love with the location. Being near all the necessary conveniences, but hidden in a quiet tropical valley, surrounded by bamboo forests, running stream, and towering eucalyptus trees is ideal. Our 1,000 foot elevation brings us cool nights, resulting in great sleeping weather. We have lived here for 28 years and continue to appreciate the beauty each day. B&B Permit # 20090014

The location was great, peaceful and relaxing. Very clean and had all the basic amenities that you needed. The back lanai was very peaceful. Would definitely stay here again.
Convenient to everything on the north end (and not too far from the more populated areas either), but far enough away from everyone that you are truly able to enjoy peace, quiet, and privacy. Lovely place, with everything you need to eat in, grill out, and just relax. We had a great time, with good communication from the hosts both in advance and when we had questions.
A very comfortable space in a quiet area. It's a bit far from the touristy parts of the island, but that's what we wanted. It's very peaceful with a nice lanai overlooking lush greenery. Highly recommended.
If I wasn’t renting a place nearby, I would definitely stay here every time. Absolutely perfect…tons of space, rainforest treehouse-like setting. Boogie boards, towels and coolers provided.
The ONLY thing I would change is the master bed - while very cozy, it was super squeaky with each move.
We appreciated very much this clean quiet spacious place with all the amenities necessary for a very relaxing vacation.
It was just what we needed after spending 10 days in the busier part of Maui
My wife and I loved it and intend to return some day. Thank you.
The Suite is really lovely - it has a large living room with a fireplace, and one large bedroom suite and a smaller bedroom. The lanai looks out over the jungle, and was really nice for a cup of coffee in the morning or game of cards in the evening. The kitchen had everything we needed. The air conditioners are in-window (they are not heat pump) and did a pretty good job of keeping it cool, but are a bit noisy. The rooms have ceiling fans, which was nice. We didn’t manage to get either TV working. There are spotted deer, geckos and myna birds that you’re sure to see while you’re there.
Had a great stay in a beautiful well appointed 2nd floor home, nicely decorated with all the amenities. Location was near Paia and right at the start of the road to Hana. Unfortunately (for us) it rained every day we were in Maui.
My wife and I loved the Bamboo Valley Inn! To start out, Tom sent over clear instructions ahead of time on how to find the Inn. It's pretty well tucked away (part of the appeal) but we found it and got checked in without any issue, even though we arrived after dark. The driveway is a bit steep in some areas but we had a 2WD vehicle and were able to get in and out just fine. The building and suite were both amazingly clean and well kept, and it's clear the owners really care about the property. The Bamboo View Suite was also nicer and MUCH larger than it appeared in the photos! The full kitchen was well equipped and great for making breakfast every day, and the huge windows and lovely shared outdoor area let us enjoy breakfast with a beautiful view of the surrounding jungle. The other guests staying at the Inn were quiet and respectful the entire time we were there. The free laundry facilities were greatly appreciated, as was the availability of beach gear (chairs, coolers, towels, and boogie boards). There was also plenty of parking on-site for our rental car. We managed to lock ourselves out one evening and Tom was extremely responsive and got us a spare key within a couple minutes.Overall an absolutely wonderful experience. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay on Maui!
Photos do this place no justice! It’s simply amazing if you’re looking to really enjoy your stay here and relax this is it. I woke up everyday to the sounds of the birds not to mention we seen deer crossing very quiet and in the center of everything. We never had to drive more than 30 mins to a hour to get to anything. We loved it and if I get the chance to come back I’m definitely staying here again! Thank y’all for having us 🙂
Incredible Overall Stay. Watch out for Wifi issues.
This is an incredible property: spacious, well-appointed, lots of outdoor space, and a lovely location. It is ideal in every way. All of this said, the property description needs a disclaimer around wifi. While I know people don't head to Maui for work, it's important to note that the wifi was very weak for the entirety of the stay. (This applies for basic sites –– even loading email and VRBO proved very difficult!)

Thanks Zachary, it was great having you stay with us and thank you for the great review!
Sorry about the internet, we have since replaced the router and the internet is working great.
Having said that we do not recommend guests work from home as zoom call video is not reliable. Zachary didn’t mention working from home prior to booking as we would have advised against it.
Our internet is fine for streaming Netflix etc. internet surfing and emails.
Hope this helps future guests.
This property is definitely not for you if you like crowded and touristy spots. It is located in a more quiet and residential part of East Maui. The setting is in a lush, green area and a bit off the beaten path-but only 5-10 minutes from Paia Town and some of the best beaches on the island- which we loved. We even saw deer in the driveway one day! The suite is spacious and very well equipped. The owners have taken much care with attending to details to provide just about anything you’d need for a great and worry-free stay. It also is air-conditioned for the warm afternoon sun. We really enjoyed exploring a new part of the island in-depth and found some great small eateries and hidden gems we never would have known about having not stayed here. The stay was very comfortable and we would highly recommend this property as a great value ! Bravo Tom & Vicki
Immaculate! Exactly like the photos show! Surrounded by the luscious green foliage and the sounds of bird calls!
We had spent a week exploring Maui's sunny sandy side, so we wanted to live in a different part of the island. The balcony became our favorite spot to enjoy coffee in the morning. During the gentle rain showers, the balcony sheltered us while we sipped a glass of wine.
The master suite is fit for royalty...a large king poster bed sets the stage. The bathroom has a large tub, a large shower with a glass door, and a double sink with plenty of counter space.
One of the nice features of this part of the island is the cooler temperatures. We slept with the windows open.
We love to bird watch so used our binoculars and camera to capture photos of a nesting pair of Warbling White Eyes, Spotted Doves, Cattle Egrets, Mynas, Scaly-breasted Munias, as well as Chickens...though known as Red Jungle Fowl.
Many extra personal touches were provided by the hosts...a breakfast basket with coffee, oatmeal, and biscotti.
Very clear directions to the inn...helped by the flag on the main access road. Just a bit of a warning, there is a short dirt road that accesses the property. There is a tricky dip as you make a sharp turn. Creates a great sense of adventure as you enter the Bamboo Valley.
The property feels so secluded and was like a real retreat being in that unit. We could see deer and other wildlife from the balcony in the morning and the town of Haiku is very closeby. Highly recommend!
Wonderful experience from booking through arrival. Tom and Vicki are thorough communicators and their property is beautiful! The location is ideal for a peaceful getaway with a gorgeous setting.
We loved our stay here - perfect Haiku location. The place was nicer than the phots - well taken care of, clean, everything you want in a rental. We would 100% stay again. :)
Pros: :) Quiet environment, getaway from tourist areas. Private area in the middle of bamboo forest. Spacious, Close to everything. Owner lends beach chairs, cooler and beach towels. Well equipted.
Cons: Some of the dishes from kitchen were dirty because is up to prior guests to wash them vs cleaning personel doing the dishes. Potato peeler and blade of blender was rusted/dirty and we were unable to use it. Curtain in the shower was pink at the bottom (moldy).

Aloha Cindy, thank you for staying with us and thanks for the nice comments .
Sorry for any inconvenience with the items that you mentioned. We bleach our shower curtains prior to every guest check in.
We would have replaced the items right away as we live on property but we never heard from you while here.
We do have a dishwasher in the Suite for any future guests but sometimes they are not perfect.
Thanks again for staying with us and have a safe and healthy year !
Perfect home in the countryside surrounded by nature but with all modern comforts, and conveniently located for exploring the Upcountry and North Shore sections of Maui. Also not too far from Kihei either.
Everything was neat and very clean. The king size bed was comfortable. The view from the porch is wonderful. Checking in after hours was easy and the owners anticipate your questions and leave an informative notebook that also contains information on nearby towns. The only negative was the toaster which did not work well. The ground coffee on the breakfast tray was delicious. A great stay. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't like crowds.
This is a great place to stay as you explore Maui’s North Shore. Away from the crowded tourist areas, yet close to the iconic north shore beaches, upcountry Maui and the road to Hana, you will be able to enjoy very pleasant day outings and then return to cook/barbeque a delightful evening meal.
The property is well-appointed and spacious, with a shared deck with barbeque.
It does get warm (late October) and you will need to use the air-conditioning to cool things down!
You do pass a property on the way in that seems poorly maintained and which has old vehicles parked in random spots. But that was a minor eyesore in the bigger picture of the property itself and the overall location. There are bugs also so you may need bug-spray! But all part of the experience!
The Bamboo Valley Inn was lovely - it looks even better in person! It was a quiet, relaxing home base for our time on Maui and Tom and Vicki's considerate hospitality made us feel so welcome. I grew up on Maui, and this place felt like home. If you want to get a real taste of what it's like to live like a local, I can't recommend this place enough
Property was as advertised. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. The only slight inconvenience was a slow internet. Very clean and comfortable.
