Charming Oceanfront Cottage at Schoolhouse Beach

Enjoy a romantic getaway for two or bring family and friends - either way, you'll have a wonderful time at our charming cottage by the sea. For the active, the beach is just steps away - fly your kite, picnic, build sandcastles, explore the tidepools or dive for abalone. For the more passive, sip a cool drink on the deck and enjoy the spectacular view or curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book.

Our home is well suited for two couples - two of the bedrooms each have a queen bed and ocean views. There's a 3rd bedroom with twin beds plus a den with fullsize futon if you bring the family. All linens are provided. There are also beach toys, towels, chairs, picnic supplies, plenty of books and games for all ages - and high speed wireless internet access.

The northern California coast is beautiful and relaxing and you don't need to leave the house at all - but if you do, you'll find almost limitless activities to fill your days. The area has many quaint villages, shops and galleries filled with local arts and crafts, restaurants serving fabulous fresh seafood, wonderful wineries, historic sites and natural wonders galore. Just be sure to return for the incredible sunsets!

Our cozy home is filled with antiques and comfy furniture. We think you will feel right at home. We have visitors who have returned year after year with their family and friends and now think of the cottage as their second home. We hope you will too! Please check our availability calendar.

Awesome Beach Getaway

The house is in a great location with awesome views! The house was very well stocked with everything you need! Its very spacious & comfortable. We enjoyed hanging out on the deck in the sun and admiring the ocean views and people watching. You get great sunsets too! Highly recommended!!

The Great Escape

This beach house has sweeping views of the ocean and you cannot beat the location. Literally a walk across the street and down a path to the sand. This house has everything plus so many extras and just thoughtful items. The owner is kind and accessible. Such a good relaxing time.

Well-equipped beach house

Friends gathered to celebrate January birthdays. Everything was perfect — the location, the weather (absolutely gorgeous), the accommodations! The house had everything we could’ve wished for and much more. Great assortment of movies, games, and more to keep folks of all ages entertained. The host was very communicative and gracious. The beach house was perfect for our needs. The house is older, but well maintained. The kitchen (and everything else) is well stocked. Very comfortable beds. The view is amazing from the deck and most every window.

Amazing Get Away!

We had a wonderful stay at the beach house! It was abundantly clear that the owner takes great care into creating a great experience for their guests. The house was perfectly stocked to anticipate all our needs and much more. The beds were so comfortable and the house was immaculate. Not to mention the beautiful view! OMGosh where do I start…we have always looked at this neighborhood and talked about how awesome the location is. This is the first time we have actually stayed here and this home made our stay even better than we imagined. The home was very clean, beds were warm and comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were beyond well stocked. Internet was good and our Verizon cell phone had no trouble. The communication with the host was exceptional, even on the holiday. We are already planning our next trip here.

Words can't describe this home. My sister came to stay with us and she just got back from traveling cross country and said she was so happy being in this home, stating it blows every state she just crossed out the water! My husband and I were so in love staying in this home we only dreamed to own it. It was perfect, I only wish we had more time. We hope to get away in this home in the future.

Perfect Getaway

The beach house is very clean, homey, comfortable, full of ammenities, and supplies. It's perfect for a large family, group of people, or a couple. It has large and clean windows to see beautiful Schoolhouse Cove. The bed we used was more comfortable than our Tempurpedic! We didn't want to leave! If you stay during cold weather, bring space heaters for the bathrooms. The rest of the house is very comfortable with the use of modern split level heat and airconditioners.

Nice older Cottage,, Great kitchen, quirky heaters, great view, scary driveway exit

We enjoyed our visit very much. Lots of room, lots of puzzles( we did 2 a day),cooked up a storm. One small disappointment — it is not actually ocean front, but is across road from ocean. We had a major scare the first time exiting driveway. Nearly broadsided by truck speeding around blind curve. You need to gun it when doing a left out of drive. Would we rent again? Yes, as it is a good price and we liked being not in Bodega Bay. Schoolhouse Beach is a beauty and made of smooth pebbles, not sand.

I am an entrepreneur and workaholic. I have been an editor of a scientific journal, a travel agent, a paralegal, a real estate agent and property manager, a commodity trader, a financial newsletter editor, and resident neighborhood psychic.

I currently produce video biographies of seniors, interviewing them and recording some of their family history and stories so they can be permanently saved on DVD for future generations.

I have helped raise 7 children. I love to read, garden, dance, travel and practically have my own personal zoo. I am a gatherer of information about almost anything. And I have an incredible husband, Jeff, who puts up with all my nonsense.

Why they chose this property

My parents bought the cottage more than 50 years ago. It is the closest beach community to the Sacramento area. It is close to San Francisco, Sausalito, Berkeley, Napa Valley and Sonoma wine country. I grew up spending vacations there and so did my children. It is a great place to share with family and friends.

What makes this property unique

It is only a minute out the front door down the path onto the beach. But if you don't feel like a walk, you can lie in bed, sit on the sofa or at the dining room table, or out on the deck and have a wonderful view of the ocean and the waves crashing on the rocks. I never tire of the wonderful sunsets - every one is different but terrific in its own way.

And the most amazing thing - you can actually see millions of stars because the night sky is so dark. We also have deer, lots of shorebirds, and great tidepools.
