About this property
The Governess central Launceston charming engaging
Let the Governess take care of you and yours when staying in the beautiful city of Launceston. She is most certainly charming and engaging and has everything you need and nothing you don't. You will certainly appreciate returning to her after days spent exploring the city and surrounds.
The Governess sits proudly at the end of her cottage row with laneway access to an undercover and secure single garage. She has been recently updated with a nod to modern convenience in keeping with her heritage charm.
On the ground floor adjoining the open plan kitchen and dining area are the living room, 1st bedroom, laundry, and bathroom with French doors opening to the courtyard. Please note that there are two steps down into the kitchen and dining area.
Located upstairs is the master bathroom featuring a beautiful freestanding bath and luxurious bath salts just waiting for you to soak and relax. You will also find bedrooms 2 and 3. Bedroom 3 also includes a desk if you need to keep check at the office.
Coffee, tea, and basic provisions are provided and there are grocers located a short stroll away along with a wide array of restaurants and Cafés.
A short drive from local attractions including the Cataract Gorge, Launceston City Part, and the Tamar Valley wine route.
Just prior to your stay you will be sent instructions to access the property.
The entire property is free for you to access.
We are available by phone from 8 am to 8 pm if you have any questions during your stay.
We would love it if you could message us when you have arrived safely and also a message on leaving is appreciated so we can clean as early as possible for our next guests.
Please please let me know as soon as you can if there are any issues at all so I have a chance to take the appropriate action to ensure your stay is it should be - totally stress-free and relaxing!!
I am unable to personally check the house before every arrival - I am heavily reliant on my housekeeper and I need to know as soon as possible if you and therefore I have been let down in any way by the presentation of The Governess.
The Governess is located amongst heritage-listed properties within walking distance to the Launceston CBD, Launceston City Park, University of Tasmania's Inveresk precinct, UTAS Stadium, the Launceston Aquatic Centre, and the East Launceston Cafe precinct.
On Saturday mornings you can enjoy a short walk to the Harvest Launceston Community Farmers Market and purchase fresh local produce direct from the growers.
A supermarket, grocer, and pharmacy are all located within a short walk of the property.
Launceston is Tasmania's second major city and a vibrant hub for food and wine, culture, and nature. In fact, the whole region is packed with city and country charm, gorgeous old towns, excellent food and wine, and beautiful scenic highlights.
One of Australia's oldest cities, Launceston has one of the best-preserved early cityscapes in Australia with its elegant Colonial and Victorian architecture and century-old parks.
Just a short walk from the city centre, Cataract Gorge is a slice of wilderness right in the heart of town and Launceston's star natural attraction.
There's also plenty of culture on offer at art galleries, museums, and design studios. The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery is the largest regional gallery in Australia.
And for a little 'home away from home, why not catch a game of AFL at UTAS Stadium?
From Launceston, you can follow the Tamar River north through Tasmania's premium wine-growing region, past forested hills and farmland, lavender fields, vineyards, orchards, and pretty riverside towns. Historic villages are found around every corner, from Longford on the outskirts of Launceston to Evandale, Ross, and Campbell Town along the Heritage Highway south.
There is public transport in the Launceston area or there are plenty of local attractions that are within walking distance of The Governess. The city does also have scooters available for public use. You will need to download the Beam app to use these.
Please note, we don't have:
- a cot or highchair for babies (you are more than welcome to bring your own)
Provided:
- a Smart TV (with access to Netflix using your own subscription)
- a washing machine/dryer combo
- clean linen on beds and 1x towel per guest (please ensure that your booking accurately reflects the number of guests including children)
- a hairdryer
- tea and coffee and a small amount of milk, oil, salt and pepper
- toilet paper (2 rolls), washing-up liquid and cloths, hand soap, bin bags, bug spray
