About the host
Hosted by Rudi Carolsfeld

I've lived in the area all my life and enjoy welcoming visitors from all over the world to our little slice of paradise.
Why they chose this property
Sooke Basin is a protected bay on the south tip of Vancouver Island, and home to all kinds of wildlife, both in the sea and on land. The house is built among old growth forests and between two seasonal creeks, with a rocky shore and a private dock. Built in 1968, the original owners spared no expense with the finest local wood finished by European craftsmen that also built the historic Grouse Nest Resort nearby.
What makes this property unique
Enjoy a peaceful day lounging on the deck, watch for hummingbirds, kingfishers, and eagles flying by -- or look for seals & otters playing in the cove. Go paddling along the shore or row to a nearby island for a picnic, and if it's warm enough jump off the dock for a refreshing swim. Explore the woods nearby or sit by the creek and read a book. Take the e-bikes for a ride along the Galloping Goose regional park corridor, which can take you all the way to downtown Victoria!
