This is our third time staying at 37 North St, and we feel so at home here! You can walk in woods behind the house, swim at Branch Lake, pick up Zeppa's pizza, and come back to peace and quiet in this cozy house. Highly recommended,
We stayed over Thanksgiving in November 2024 because our house was still being finished. Denise recommended this house for its roomy kitchen and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here. All the comforts of home.
Great location to travel around to see different places and shops, including Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Rockland Lighthouse and Quoddy Lighthouse.
Loved the VRBO!! Great location to the many things we wanted to do up and down the coast of Maine.
I would recommend this home and if we ever return to Maine I will rent it again!!
This was the best vacation rental I've ever had: a perfect fit for this quiet couple in their 70s. Our hosts had thought of everything in a well-supplied kitchen and bathrooms, roomy, comfy bedrooms, and charming living room and study space. Close to Ellsworth shops and restaurants and our family in Blue Hill, the locations was perfect too. We would love to return!
Because Maine was experiencing extreme heat, Denise contacted me to ask if it would be okay to switch houses to one with air conditioning. The the house was very nice. We'd stay there again.
This VRBO property is one of the nicest, cleanest and well equipped property that I’ve stayed in. Convenient to Bar Harbor and all surrounding, off the grid harbors. Beds were supper comfortable, and plenty of room for personal space. Very Nice Place!!
Our second time in this lovely spot. We felt completely at home and could relax and be near family but have some space too. Our hosts thought of everything to make us comfortable. We could meet the grandkids at Knowlton Park and the bookstore. And the lobster rolls at Dorr's are indeed the best!
This was our 2nd stay in this rental. We were just as happy with it this time as we were on our 1st visit. Denise is lovely - a pleasure to work with. We hope to return in the future.
Loved this stay. Our hostess provided everything in this home. From lobster pots for cooking to baking sheets for cookies. We were all comfortable in our beds and the baths were fully equipped with shampoo, soap and towels. It was an amazing and beautiful home. I will always remember this trip.

6 nights stay in September 2018.
In short, it was so refreshing to stay in Denise's property.
Every detail well prepared and thought out.
Little things made the difference, you could tell it was more about
hospitality than money.
Great value for the price point.
Thank you Denise,

Thank you so much for your review and especially for leaving the house in stellar condition. It was a pleasure to host you and we hope that you can return again in the future. We are very pleased that your visit was a success!
The house was very nice and clean. The location was convenient and gave us options to visit some places we hadn't visited on other vacations when we've stayed in the island. We were happy with our stay.
Two things to be aware of when renting this house: the owner doesn't want outside shoes worn in the house so pack a pair of house shoes/slippers, and be prepared for the sound of engin brakes from the trucks that use the road this house sits on.

Very nice stay!
Thank you to Denise and her property manager, Wendy for such a generous welcome "basket" of breakfast goodies! Your house provided us with a great location for visiting Acadia National Park, and the area surrounding Ellsworth.
The home was very clean, tidy, and well equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We also enjoyed sitting on the porch each evening. Thank you again for a lovely time.💞

We are pleased you had a good time. It is a wonderful time of year in Maine. A little less crowded but still warm enough to enjoy the outdoors. We would certainly welcome you back and thanks for leaving the place in such nice shape.
This place was a great fit for my family of 5. There was plenty of room, and the host provided many extras you don't often find in a vacation rental. It was a good base for exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor, and Ellsworth has a nice little downtown of its own. There is a great lobster market right across the street. The house includes a big binder with restaurant recommendations and a long list of suggestions for things to do in the area. Denise responded to my questions quickly and was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
My friend and I stayed 7 days mid Sept. Beds were very comfortable with a fan in every room. It also was very clean and the yard very beautiful with flowers everywhere. The bathrooms were a little small but we managed. It would help if there were hooks to hang clothes or towel on. Kitchen and baths were very well stocked. The location is absolutely right in the middle of all the sights to see. We went to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, Fort Knox and so many other places. Weather was beautiful. Thank you for having such a well kept place!!!

This is a super clean home with comfortable memory foam beds. Everything was very organized and lots of little amenities that are not typically provided. Really enjoyed the fresh eggs we found left for us in the fridge and the maple syrup. I had difficulty locating a few items initially and Denise was very quick to address and resolve.
We arrived on a very hot day- 90 degrees- and the window air conditioners in the living room and bedrooms combined with a set up of fans to circulate cooled air into kitchen worked well to achieve comfortable temps. We also closed the curtains in the kitchen on hot sunny days and this helped a lot. Who knew the hot 90 degree weather would follow us from Ohio to Maine :)
The Office room was a nice plus- again, lots of little unexpected touches- such as several tablets with writing paper, pens, pencils, scissors and tons of places to charge devices.
Also, we really enjoyed the bike / walking path that starts next to the properties and even walked down to the LLBean Outlet one evening by combining the path with a few neighborhood streets.
Property was impeccably clean, comfortable and organized. The kitchen was well stocked with any/all necessary cooking supplies (including essentials for a lobster feast). The history of this home was apparent in the adorable wide plank hardwood floors, the original front door, and original banister. Large grocery stores, restaurants, pizzerias, and fast food chains were just a few minutes down the road if needed (but far enough away for this location to feel secluded and off the beaten path). All bedrooms and the main sitting area had a/c window units which kept the entire house cool during an extremely hot week in Maine (temps in the 90s). The host provided many thoughtful touches like q-tips, bandaids, shampoo/conditioner, and Tylenol in the bathroom. We were also greeted with pancake mix, maple syrup, and farm fresh eggs upon arrival. Bed linens were great quality and extremely clean. It was apparent that the host puts great care into the cleanliness and details of her property. We would highly recommend Dorr's seafood (literally minutes away) for delicious clam chowder and live lobsters. The home is an easy 30 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and about 20 minutes to Lamoine Beach and the pristine Branch Lake. Check in was easy and the host was readily available via text if any issues/questions arose. Overall, we were thrilled with our stay at this beautiful home and can not wait to come back!
This was the best property we have rented in 12 years!
We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay in this beautiful Ellsworth home. We loved the home’s distance from Acadia and Schoodic Point. We went to at least one of these places each day. We enjoyed most days with a hike in the morning, a picnic lunch, and a swim in the afternoon!
We also enjoyed an evening stroll through downtown Ellsworth, multiple trips to Morton’s Moo, and a few hours in the shops in Bar Harbor.
The binder with house instructions was so clear. We loved its recommendations for what do, as it was our first time in the area. It was the most thorough one we’ve encountered, and we appreciated it so very much! The restaurant recommendations were spot on and also offered a description beyond the title to help one make a decision.
Denise was an attentive host who provided homemade maple syrup, fresh eggs, and pancake mix! She also promptly replied to any questions we had vía text.
The Branch Lake and Schoodic Point were some of our favorite places ever. Of course we also loved Acadia’s Ocean path(by Sand Beach), sand beach, the Jordan Pond trail and so much more!
Doubt doubt it, book it! We’ll return as soon as possible!
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need. Location was ideal for a visit to Ellsworth, Bangor and of course Bar Harbor. Thank you.
Great location for our day trips along the coast from Acadia National Park up to Lubec and Campobello Island (be sure to bring your passport for Campobello).
The house was very clean and the tv system is a wonderful evening activity.
The host is always available to answer any last minute questions you may have when getting settled in.
No problems whatso ever!

About the host
Hosted by Denise Hue
We enjoy the outdoors as much as our work schedule allows. Maine offers so many great areas to explore hiking, boating, hunting, biking, skiing, bird watching, fishing. Nature never fails to provide constant entertainment. While at home, we garden for fresh veggies, apples and berries. We also tend our small flock of chickens and ducks for fresh eggs every morning and have a flight pen for chukar partridges. We are training our hunting dogs, two Brittanys who share our love for the outdoors. You might find us in the backyard in the winter months boiling down maple syrup or in the summer planting flowers and vegetables.
Why they chose this property
Denise is a certified public accountant and David is a jeweler. Together with David's brother, we own a store in Downtown Ellsworth on the Union River. We love living on this beautiful Ellsworth Falls property because it is the perfect blend of town and country living. Although it's a five minute drive to work, we get to enjoy our spacious lawns, gardens and forests.
We have been landlords for 23 years for year round rentals and have converted some units on our large campus to offer as fully furnished rentals. We have spent a great deal of time outfitting our places so they would be comfortable and convenient.
What makes this property unique
The house is located in a residential neighborhood and is part of a large campus of homes, gardens and forest also owned by the hosts.
If you have a large party such as a wedding, please ask us about our other vacation rentals that share a common backyard. We have two other houses and an executive apartment available.
The walk/bike trail head (rail to trail) is nearby that connects Ellsworth Falls to Downtown Ellsworth. 11 minutes by bike and 35 minutes on foot.
The Friends and Family Market (and Shell gas station) is about five minutes on foot.
Our favorite spot is Dorr's Fish Market across the street. They will cook lobsters for you so you can avoid the fuss or sample their delicious lobster rolls.
