About the host
Hosted by Shawn Marshall

Charles Ensign currently lives in the Portland Oregon area but spent much of his life in Montana. He brought his family to Glacier Park when they were young and his family has continued to come out year after year.
This 5 acre property was purchased by Charles 30+ years ago. At the time, there was only a small single room log cabin with no utilities and an outhouse 20 feet outside the front door. He pushed to get electricity/phone up Belton Stage Road and began the search for water on the property. Successful with both, and began the process of building a workshop/apartment (located next to the cabin) where he then had a place to live while working on the cabin. He carefully had the old cabin taken apart so that the logs could be preserved and used to build the new cabin. It went from a one room log cabin that was built in the 20's to what it is today. Charles was also one of the early residents on Belton Stage Road and was instrumental in getting electricity and phone services all up and down the road.

Why they chose this property
Spend 15 minutes on the screened in front porch any time of day and you will understand why Charles chose this wonderful little piece of property.
What makes this property unique
*There are two buildings next to each other on the property. The main cabin is where VRBO guest stay and a workshop/apartment where two year-long residents live. They are a delightful young couple that are both employed by Glacier Park in a variety of science related fields/projects. They are very friendly and do go out of their way to leave guest alone. Their apartment faces the opposite direction as does the main cabin but the parking area is shared by all. Please be advised that this is a shared property. They tend to be at work in the park during the week and off on many adventures during the weekend. Please respect their space and privacy as well.
