About this property
Comfy, Cozy, Central! Welcoming craftsman home near Hawthorne Blvd & Division
Relax in a beautiful, quiet craftsman home, just a 5-minute walk to nearby hip Hawthorne & Division Streets! Enjoy spacious, comfy bedrooms, a newly remodeled bath, as well as large living & dining rooms and a front porch. Classic, cozy, old-school Portland style. Lots of street parking, on a bike street, in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Decorated with photography and filled with antique cameras. We include a polaroid camera you can use to capture memories of your trip.
THE SPACE:
Welcome home! This cute apartment makes up the entire main floor of a 2 unit duplex. It is an old Portland craftsman home with tons of character and charm. A cozy living room and dining room, 2 bedrooms with queen beds as well as a pull-out couch in the living room with a queen size bed.
The home is in a safe and clean neighborhood and sits along a designated bikeway. We also have cruiser bikes for you to use during your stay if you would like to rent them. The bathroom was recently remodeled and has a beautiful glass and tile walk-in shower with a rain head. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook.
Porch: Several chairs and a table to lounge and people watch all the bikers during the summer. Shaded by vines.
Entryway: The entryway into the house is small and shared with the upstairs unit.
Living room: Comfy sleeper sofa (full bed), and oversized sofa chair. Built-ins with antique cameras. Extra blankets. Tasteful artwork.
Dining room: Open concept with the living room. Dining room table seats 4. Built-ins, a poloroid camera (in a drawer), books, and some games to play.
Kitchen: Full sized fridge, dishwasher, garbage disposal, coil-top electric range and oven, coffee machine, coffee and tea, spices and other basics.
Bathroom: Glass and tile shower. Newly renovated.
Bedrooms: Queen sized beds, closets, and dressers.
Backyard: It's a pretty small space, but it's fully fenced in. It has a little covered patio area with chairs so that you can sit outside comfortably in the rain. The backyard is shared with the upstairs tenant.
Basement: The laundry machines are in the basement. Accessible through the kitchen. The basement area is shared with the upstairs tenant. There are two washers and 2 dryers. Please don't overload the washers or they won't function properly. Down here, you'll also find a stroller, pack and play crib, and high chair.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE!
I have found over time that every VRBO is different and every guest’s expectations are different when they book a short term rental. It is my goal to make sure that I am as transparent as possible so that you can make an educated decision on your choice of where you would like to stay.
PET POLICY: All pets must be approved in advance. You must confirm that the animal has no history of property destruction, indoor urination/defecation, aggression, or excessive noise. We expect you to have the animal with you or crated when you're not home. In order to maintain an allergen-low environment for other guests, I have cleaners do deep cleans after every animal stays there and hire a carpet / upholstery cleaner if necessary. Any undisclosed pet will result in a large penalty. FEES: Dogs and cats: 14 days or less: $100 // 15 days or more: $200. This fee does not cover any damages caused by the pet that result in excessive cleaning or repairs.
ESAs / Service animals: If you have an ESA animal please send me a copy of the paperwork including the letter from your healthcare provider. If you have a service animal trained to help you with a disability, I will be asking you the following legally allowable questions:
1) Is the service animal required because of a disability?
2) What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? (Your disability does *not* need to be disclosed)
NOISE: No excessive noise. No parties. No yelling. Quiet hours are 10pm - 8am.
SMOKING: No smoking anywhere on the property. Not in the backyard. Not on the porch. Not in the driveway.
CLEANING: Sometimes a cleaner does a poor job and it catches me (and you!) off guard. Please let me know if the cleaner missed something(s) important and allow me to fix the issue. I assure you that I strongly value cleanliness and any lack of cleanliness is not on purpose.
OLD HOUSE: This unit is located in an old, craftsman house. Old houses come with a lot of unique charm. But they also tend to have issues that crop up – not out of negligence, but just out of simple wear and tear and age. They may have creaky floors, squeaky doors, old house smells, windows that are a bit funky to open, worn spots on the floor, etc. I try to address issues as quickly as they arise, but some issues are not going to be possible to address during your stay (such as a creaky floor or an old house smell). When booking this unit you are acknowledging this reality and that you are not going to be met with a fancy new construction or brand new furniture.
GUEST UPSTAIRS: This unit has another apartment above it. As such, you will often hear the normal noises of other tenants in the building. This may include: people walking, pets walking, pets occasionally barking, muffled voices, muffled music, muffled TV noises, furniture being moved, the occasional thing being dropped on the floor. We inform our upstairs tenants to keep aware of tenants below, to wear socks, to keep their dogs from excessive barking, to keep quiet hours of 10pm - 8am. However, there is a certain level of noise that is not possible to control. If you notice the upstairs tenants causing excessive noise, especially during quiet hours, please let us know. If you would like us to bring over a noise machine, please let us know. By booking this unit, you acknowledge this reality of potential noise.
AC: We will be installing 3 AC units in the house during the summer. Let us know when it starts getting hot and we will come put them in (portable AC and window AC units).
SUPPLIES: We provide you enough supplies to get you through a month. If you end up staying more than a month, it is on you to purchase your own supplies (e.g. TP, shampoo, etc)

About the host
Hosted by Tobin & L.E.

Hello! My name is Tobin. A little bit about me: I was lucky enough to have been born and raised here in wonderful Portland, Oregon. As a northwest native when I get out to play it's either to the great outdoors or exploring this eclectic city. In the winter I love Mt. Hood and playing in the snow, in the summer the rivers take me rafting, the lakes and beaches are always fun to camp and explore.
