Beautiful property, but serious safety concerns with nighttime check-in and blocked drivewayMy biggest concern was the safety of getting to our cabin, especially at night. The driveway was blocked by a tractor/paver, which meant we couldn’t use the intended walkway or stairs to access our cabin. Instead, we had to walk around on uneven, unlevel ground with no working outdoor lighting. There was a light, but it didn’t work. This was incredibly dangerous in the dark, especially while carrying luggage and helping children navigate the terrain.Had we been informed ahead of time that the driveway was blocked, we would have arrived earlier. However, even with an earlier arrival, the driveway should not have been blocked in a way that prevented guests from safely accessing their cabin. We were also told to park in designated spots, but it was impossible to tell which areas were marked. Perhaps the markings were covered by fallen leaves, or perhaps they weren’t clearly marked at all. We ended up parking in the driveway of the neighboring cabin because it seemed like the only logical option.Check-in after dark was another issue. There was no working exterior light, making it nearly impossible to identify the correct cabin. We actually entered the wrong cabin, and our access code worked! We began moving in before realizing it wasn’t ours. Apparently, the same code was being used for more than one cabin. Security had to locate our actual cabin and then show us how to get inside, given the blocked driveway and access issues.Yes, this is the mountains, and we expected some natural, uneven terrain. That is not the issue. The problem was being unable to use the intended access route and having to navigate unlit, uneven ground that was not safe for walking, particularly while carrying luggage and managing children. Guests should be able to get to their accommodations safely, regardless of the time of day.On a positive note, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was wonderfully well stocked, and the property itself is beautiful. Those were definite highlights of our stay.I would consider staying here again if the driveway were accessible, the outdoor lighting worked, and guests could safely enter their cabin using the intended walkway and stairs. However, I would not stay here again under the same conditions. Safety and accessibility should come first, and guests should be informed in advance of any issues that affect how they access their accommodations.
