My husband and I would like to respond to the comments left by our previous renter. We have nothing to hide and will answer any questions if you have any after reading this response. In early February of 2016, we were made aware of a small amount of mold that had appeared on the surface of our bathroom ceiling. My husband and I traveled from our home in Pennsylvania immediately to address this issue. Once we were there we were able to wipe the mold right off of the ceiling tile, and my husband got in the ceiling and found no evidence of mold. He then removed the paneling and insulation in the entire living room where there was a musty odor. He again found no evidence of any mold. We then had a mold company come in and spray the home to eliminate any mold that might be present. After the entire home was treated my husband replace the walls with new insulation and dry wall. The renter claimed that our home made their 16 year old dog contract pneumonia. We in turn contacted two different veterinarians and explained how the renter had brought the dog from 750 miles away to our home in South Carolina. We have no idea if the dog had any previous health issues before they arrived. The veterinarians said that they highly doubted that our home caused the pneumonia in their dog and that the veterinarian that they saw could not have determined if our home did unless there were extensive diagnostic tests done on the dog to determine the origin of the illness. Therefore, we do not believe that our home had anything to do with their dog becoming ill. As stated previously we renovated the home and treated it for any issue before we allowed anyone else in the home including this particular renter. As far as their claim that "neighbors" told them the house was full of mold, we find this impossible, because not one of our neighbors have ever been in our home in the 10 years that we have owned it. In fact most of the neighbors we have never even met as we are rarely down there unless we are checking on it, getting it ready for summer and doing any necessary repairs to get it ready for each rental season. The above review is an inaccurate review of our home. Jim stayed in our home for one month and never once called us with any concerns regarding any of the issues he has stated in his review. We can assure you if he had they would have been taken care of immediately. In fact, in March our refrigerator broke and we had a new one installed in our home the next day. There is no evidence of rodents in our home (i.e. chewing, mouse droppings etc.) We have a pest service that comes bimonthly to treat for insects, and they are in our home and outside of our home spraying. They have never seen any evidence of rodents near or in our home. As for the foot through the floor, if Jim did as he says "put his foot through the floor"; he would have had to have stepped with his full weight on a plastic floor vent cover which broke under his weight. We have been to our home since his stay and saw no other evidence of "holes" in our floor other than the broken vent cover over the air duct. This is the only scenario I can come up with since Jim will not reply to my email for more information on his "so called" problems in our home. The vents however, have since been replaced with metal vent covers to avoid this happening in the future. The snowy reception was due to a new DVD player that was hooked up in the living room incorrectly by a previous renter who connected a new DVD player for us during their stay. We had the carpet and home cleaned the day before Jim’s stay, and any stains he is referring to are two tiny rust spots that were unable to be removed and a small spot that a previous renter treated with an unknown carpet cleaner and bleached a small spot on the carpet. As for the electrical wiring we have had no issue with it, nor has any renter had an issue with the wiring. I would be happy to give you phone #s of previous renters so that they can tell you about our home. We love our home and want our guests to love it too! We want to assure all of our previous and prospective renters that we take care of any issues in our home as soon as possible after we are notified.
