7th floor- one elevator

Though there were two elevators, only one worked our entire stay, and it broke down during our stay as well, briefly. We spent much of our time waiting for the elevator to take us seven floors. Our stay was not well managed by the front desk overall as we had difficulty waiting for them to get off the phone to speak with us.

Nothing but great!

I love the view, the amenities and activities this place has. The complimentary beach chairs are always a plus as well as the shopping carts and luggage caddy which are my favorite part! Makes loading and unloading all your things such a breeze!

Nice Time!

I did find a huge cockroach in the unit but not sure that's reflection of overall cleanliness. Beach jam packed. Other places have most of the room on the beach.

Would NOT recommend this unit to anyone!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This unit is considered “platinum” however I would not even give it a 1 star. When we arrived we seen several roaches. The unit is not very clean nor updated... I don’t know how it got bro be platinum. I cleaned the unit with Lysol wipes and Lysol because the bathroom still had hair in the tub and sink area. I kept our stuff put up. The next morning while cooking breakfast one of the burners in the stove did not work either.I have stayed at The Islander before not even in a platinum unit and it was much much nicer than this one!

Highly disappointed

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We checked in to stay in 106 for 4 nights. After checking in with front desk, we went to unit. Upon entering we heard loud noise of 2 humidifiers on blowing hot air. The inside temp on thermostat was 78. We went to front desk and they said the air conditioner was out and they were waiting on maintenance to come and check. We went back to unit and waited. Maintenance came (2 men) checked the unit and left. Told us nothing. We waited an hour. Had to cancel dinner. Called front desk for update. Front desk (Cindy) and asked her why we were not informed about this at check in. She told us that she told “them” to tell us this before we got here and at check in. I requested a manger to call us. Raquel called an hour later. Told us she was going to have to move us to another unit but that she didn’t have a place for us to stay the last night. She told us the air conditioner would not be fixed for days. We had to move everything up to 4th floor unit and then again last night to 7th floor. Packing up and moving multiple times was a big inconvenience. We missed family time on beach and dinner. Highly disappointed in the customer service and lack of integrity and dishonesty. We were told by another maintenance guy that the owners of 106 have been refusing to replace the air conditioning unit when they have been told to by maintenance and that it keeps going out. Do not recommend booking this unit or any other unit at the Islander. We had to request multiple times to speak to a manager.

Great Time and Great View

Really enjoyed our short trip to Destin! Unit 706 could use a little TLC, but it was comfortable, and the view from the main bedroom and balcony more than made up for any shortcomings. Plenty of seating, and the couch is a pull out if needed. They let you know ahead of time, but make sure to pick up or bring extra TP, paper towels, trash bags, coffee/tea, soap etc. Beach chair/umbrella service was incredibly convenient, and the walk to the beach was shorter than I had anticipated. The property itself is so so. Not the easiest building to maneuver around, but the staff were friendly and helpful, and location was amazing. Certainly would return.

The view was amazing. They even had to floor fans in the rooms. Would definitely stay in this room again. Love the new keys and the private beach. Comes with two chairs and umbrella daily on the beach. They even set them up for you.

Great location and views

Love The Islander in Destin

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to Destin for approximately 27 years and we absolutely love it. We stayed in Unit 706 and were very pleased with the Unit. Many upgrades and a wonderful view of the Gulf. My only concern was the condition of the laundry room. Several washers/dryers out of order and the room was a mess. Overflowing garbage and abandoned clothing strewn over the water heater. Have always loved the Islander, but was a bit surprised by the condition of this room. The front gate to get onto the property was also propped open the entire stay, not a good way to secure the property or vehicles in the parking lot.

Short Get Away
