Welcome to The Dukes Townhouse. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of York City Centre, which is only a 5 minute's walk away, sat in a leafy street in York, this beautiful Victorian Townhouse has recently been renovated into 5 fabulous 1 bedroom apartments. All have access to unlimited super-fast WIFI and have been fully furnished with your comfort and enjoyment in mind.

On entering through the front entrance you are immediately drawn in via the beautiful hallway, with both original York stone floors and staircase. You will find The Chambers situated on the ground floor. This beautiful one bedroom apartment is bright and airy and is designed to provide a comfortable base from which to explore the delights of York.

The living area has been finished in such a way as to ensure that you have everything you need in both the kitchen and everything for your comfort in the lounge. The sofa invites you to sit back and relax for the evening and the elegant dining table, set in the window is just perfect for watching the world go by. If you want to shut out the world for a while, just close up the beautiful, original shutters and sink into your own oasis of calm.

Onto the bedroom you will find a fabulous, comfortable king size bed, complimented by the most stylish of en suite bathrooms with a fabulous walk in shower and underfloor heating - ensuring that you are both well rested and able to take your time to get ready for your day/evening out in York.

The apartment is only a 5 minute walk from the York Art Gallery and another 3 minutes to the steps of the world famous York Minster and a five minute walk over the bridge from the station. Once you have arrived you can put your car into the dedicated parking space, from where you wont need it until the day you depart - then unpack, grab your guide book and off to explore York - everything is so close to hand. Great location

Great location The heating system needs looking at , it was freezing in there when we arrived took ages to warm up and then kept switching it self back down to 14 degrees

Everything was fabulous at the flat unfortunately the people upstairs were very noisy either late at night or early morning who wants to listen to Christmas songs 6.00 am not me.

Wonderful weekend away

We stayed in the Chambers for the weekend and had a great time. The apartment is very comfortable and welcoming. It had everything we needed and in an excellent location. The bed is extremely comfortable, we also loved the welcome pack. Will definitely be back again.

Perfect stay!

Our stay here was absolutely perfect. The location of the property is just brilliant, literally a 5 minute walk and you are at York Minster. Along the route you are presented with lots of little coffee shops and restaurants which are independent, as well as Sainsbury's as an additional bonus for any groceries you may need. 10/10 for location. We had a couple of days exploring the coast and likewise the location was perfect to leave York as you have direct access to a main road out and no traffic build up :-) The property itself is just beautiful - the decor and amenities are brilliant and the little hamper on arrival was a lovely touch. It really felt like home from home with everything we could have needed available. Additional bonus was the parking space which in York is a huge plus. Previous reviews stated the space to access the parking was tight and it was, however totally doable and we discovered if you drive to the top of the road and access from the other end (a bit of a longer way round) it was much more accessible. We really did not want to leave and when we return I will not hesitate in booking this property again.

Wonderful Location

The Chambers at Dukes Townhouse was amazing. We were close walking distance to all York activities. Accommodations were very clean and surprisingly very quiet. The apartment was a little warm due to the warmer weather but not unbearable. Parking was a little tight but probably typical for the area. Can't wait to come back to York and stay at the Dukes.

Lovely comfortable apartment in a great location

This is a lovely little apartment in a fantastic location. The bed is very comfortable and the fit is to a high standard. My only small complaint is that the small round table is a bit impractical. Otherwise I had a really comfortable stay and the service was excellent

A lovely flat in a historic street

I stayed at The Chambers for two months and am missing the place. It was fantastic - the furniture and appliances are high-end, the bed is comfy, the shower is great too. We experienced both warm and cold weather during our stay and the flat was fine in both, it’s well insulated and the central heating picks up very quickly. The flat is on a lovely street just a short walk from the City walls and the train station. My partner and I really enjoyed the convenience of being so close to transport links, but also having quiet parks like the Museum Gardens close by.

Amazing stay!

Stayed for 2 nights. The apartment is comfortable with nice natural light. Quiet neighborhood. So close to city center - very walkable! Parking space in the back of the building was appreciated - it was a very narrow street to get to the parking spot and a mid to smaller sized car fits. Bed was comfortable. We were on the first floor and no stairs to navigate. Good wifi. Overall we had a very nice stay.

Good location. Quite small.

The apartment was well decorated and tastefully furnished but much smaller than expected, particularly the bedroom and shower room. It was also quite chilly unless the electric fan heater provided was switched on. The parking space was a tight squeeze to access, but handy to have one in central York. It was about 10 mins walk to the centre, so an ideal location which was very quiet at night. The little welcome hamper was lovely.

A weekend in York

The property is fantastic, free parking, great location, very clean and modern. Everything you need for a short stay. However the only thing that lets the place down is how cold it gets. The underfloor heating in the bathroom never felt warm, the flat was very cold, even turning up the electric heating made very little difference especially when returning at night and the heating was off when the thermostat was reading only 13deg. I would strongly recommend a more user friendly system for controlling the temperature. Still a great place.

Very cold

Although Stays York is very good company to work with this in no way reflects upon them and I will continue to use them for holiday rentals. Their customer service is excellent. However the apartment was beautiful and the area was perfect the apartment heat system is awful. I put the heating up several times and it would after a bit drop back to 14c . Also overnight. I stayed in the winter so it was cold. The rental company has no control over this and brought me a portable heater. The only blanket in the apartment is the duvet on the bed which is comfortable and warm. There is no entertainment in the apartment.. the tv does have Netflix but you have to have an account to access it. There is no dvd or cd player . However Stays York is an excellent rental company and I personally will always use this rental company because of the care they give to their renters. I travel from the USA and they have always went above and beyond for me so I would highly recommend Stays York. But I can’t recommend this apartment unfortunately. However it is a beautiful building but the heating system honestly sucks.

We had a lovely stay here for two nights. The location is brilliant! The apartment is beautifully decorated and was very clean. The high ceilings and traditional sash style windows do mean the property can be on the cooler side, however we were able to easily adjust the heating to accommodate. Unfortunately, noise can be heard from the apartment above, however this can’t be helped. The hampers were a lovely touch and hosts easy to get in touch with throughout.

Amazing ! Highly Recommend!!

We had a 3 night stay in the Chambers and it was Amazing. The apartment is beautifully decorated with a very luxurious feel whilst still being incredibly comfortable. The bed is the best we slept in on our travels, we slept so well as it is lovely and quiet. The location is fabulous with a really easy stroll into York. We will definitely be back, can’t recommend this apartment enough.

Peace and quiet - but so close to the city

This is a lovely apartment in an elegant period terraced property, located on a beautiful street. Parking on site was a bonus. Very comfortable, chic and well appointed. Although it is only a few minutes walk to the city centre we found it to be very quiet. It is really close to Museum Gardens too - well worth a visit. Slight issue with the lack of the welcome ‘goodie bag’ when we arrived (we were looking forward to a cuppa after a long drive), but we were able to collect this from the Stays York office the next day. We loved our stay.

Beautiful small apartment in a great part of town

This is a perfect apartment for 2 people staying right in the heart of York. It is finished to a very high standard, is comfortable and has the things you need for a short stay.
