Nice ground floor apartment

This apartment is very spacious and comfortable for a long stay. You’ll find everything you’ll need to relax and enjoy your stay without worrying about having to climb stairs or go out to eat for every meal. The walk to the pool is short and the beach only a small distance away.

Just what we needed

The condo was perfect for a restful, relaxing long weekend getaway. Easy walk to the beach, the amenities to watch the college football games we "had" to watch. Everything was easy and perfect!

Loved the proximity to the pool and boardwalk

The unit was very clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed. We slept comfortably on the beds. Overall it was a pleasant stay. I’d recommend.

Vacation 2022

We loved the person secluded beach and the small community. This place has all the comforts of home. It was wonderful. Close to the beach and the pool. Had issues with the water in the guest bathroom: hard to turn on other than that it was a special quiet place to relax and enjoy the beach.

Wonderful family vacation!

This property was just perfect for a fun family vacation. The short walk to the water and the pool were great for our kids - ages 8, 6, and 4. The kids loved the bunk room and the Wii! We enjoyed the size of the unit and the fact that our family of 5 had more than enough room. The condo had everything that we needed throughout the week, from cooking to games to feeling comfortable. The beach was not crowded at all which was great for being able to keep an eye on our kids. The house was sunny, well decorated, and comfortable. Before we even left the kids kept asking when we could come stay again. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!

First trip to Dauphin Island

Surf Club A-5 was very clean, comfortable, convenient to the beach. The outside of the complex was not appealing. Very dated. We were surprised that the very few restaurants on the island were not open regularly and, when open, closed between 4pm-9pm. If we return to Dauphin Island, we would definitely book a house on the beach, but honestly, we most likely will not return.

Not quite what we were looking for

The property is well maintained, clean and cozy. The bathrooms are small and the stand-alone shower in the main bathroom is not tall people friendly. The master bedroom is in the middle of the 2 bedrooms and has no windows and the bathroom is a tight space and not tall people friendly either. The walls are rather thin in the unit and makes privacy difficult. The kitchen is very well stocked and it has a pantry and plenty of cabinet space. The washer and dryer are nice to have in the unit, especially with kids; made it easy to keep clothes from piling up. There is only 1 pool on the property and it is rather small for such a larger property. The staff on site were very welcoming the whole week. There are a few places to eat out and get groceries but at a higher cost. The island doesn’t have a ton of activities for families in our opinion, it is a beautiful place but not our preferred location or vibe for a full week beach vacation.

Unclean and unsafe!!

We wish we could leave a better review but unfortunately we had a horrible experience and unsatisfactory customer service. We attempted to reach out to the local property manager and corporate. The local property manager offered to come assess two complaints (closet door and toilet) but no one would address or primary corners on cleanliness and safety. Photos of our experience were sent to local and corporate property managers, VRBO, along with local officials. Overall this unit and the property are not properly maintained for safety and cleanliness. We are surprised to read so many reviews that state otherwise about this property. After contacting customer service we immediately gathered our belongings and found somewhere else to stay. The pictures on this listing are not what you walk in to. Our experience included: Vomit (at least that's what it appears to be) on the bed skirt of the guest bedroom Electrical cover in children's bunk room not secured to the wall and leaving electrical exposed. Closet door in the bunk room fell off and about hit/knocked over our two year old son. Thick layer of dust & grim on cabinets and air vent covers. Something spilled on kitchen counter. Entry door doesn't latch and bottom portion is broken where kids can get their fingers pinched or stuck. Toilet tank not filling properly in master bath. Machete knives left outside entry way unsecured and unattended. (Assume they belong to the unit located above). The pool is poorly maintained. The fencing around the pool is rotted and falling apart. Their is a large panel of fencing that is falling down that allows for children to have access. There is no safety around the steep steps of the pool area to prevent slipping and falling. Pool rails are rusting. Beach area is very small and not maintained.

Sand, sun and fun.

Beautiful beach decor. Well stock kitchen. Short easy walk to the beach with beautiful sunset. The residents was very clean and well maintained. Set up well for family.

Fall Beach and Birding

Surf Club 5A is perfectly situated for those vacationers who enjoy nature. Just steps from the beach, either directions takes you to natural, uncrowded beaches. This protected ecosystem hosts migratory birds and monarch butterflies during the month of October.

Lovely week in Dauphin Island

It was a privilege to stay at A5 at Dauphin Surf Club in Dauphin Island. The villagers were friendly and accommodating. The condo was spacious, clean and had all the amenities anyone could want. the beach was beautiful and the guest we met were also very friendly. My husband an I highly recommend this location. Beautiful, lovely weather, night strolls on the beach. Just lovely!

Great off the grid getaway

Great off the grid getaway. The beach was close. The beds were good although the master bed was small. The house smelled a bit before we got there. The pots and pans were nasty. Overall a good trip.

My best friend’s sister is retiring. We thought a week at Dauphin Island was a great getaway idea. It was a fantastic week at a really great location. Would book again, for sure.

Not a king

This property does not have a king bed as listed. It's a queen in the main bedroom and looks to have been from the beginning as it's the same bed as the pictures. It feels like a case of bait and switch. If you are looking for a king bed as are a large number of searchers, this is not the place. We certainly would not have booked the property. Overall the property was fairly clean and a quiet location. The swimming pool was smaller than we thought it would be and busy, so we never ended up using it. The beach was the best part as you could find a spot and it was more peaceful than other places we have been. For a large family there wasn't even a large pot to cook things like spaghetti and other pots/pans were getting tired and flaking. Luckily, we brought our own griddle, but unfortunately we didn't have our own salt/pepper as everywhere we have ever stayed had the basics. There were only 4 dining chairs for a place that sleeps 6. We had to use beach chairs in order to seat everyone at the table. The bbq wasn't put to use as it's getting rather tired and lacked propane. We ended up not using the first door that enters into the kitchen as the locking mechanism isn't right and difficult to get latched correctly to lock. We didn't bother to call about these basic things as we wanted to spend our time on vacation and not inspecting and fixing a property.
