Great House

Overall this is a great vacation home. The only issues were with not wanting to feel like we were in a rental. Upper outlet to left of bed in primary room on left didn't work despite managing wall switches. Lots of touch up paint that didn't match (especially in stairwell, threshold to primary room on left was loose and we kept tripping over it, Keurig machine leaked water, and just over all wear and tear throughout house. A solar cover would be great to keep debris out of pool. We had a great time but would not pay what we did again for the house in this condition. Thanks!

fantastic location, amazing pool

The location within Palmetto Dunes is great. The house was nice, a bathroom for each bedroom is a plus. A very nice, often shaded pool...amazing. All was very nice. note for Vac Homes: only one burner works on the grill. it should be fixed/replaced.

Great location

This is the third time we have rented this house and can not beat the location. The only issue we had was with the pool. It had green algae in it when we arrived. The management company did send someone out the next day to look at it. The pool company shocked it, but it never really cleared up. We spent most of the time on the beach, so we were fine. Will definitely rent this house again.

Great house and location, but the late check in time was very inconvenient

Overall, it was a great house. Spacious and we loved that every bedroom had its own bathroom. Short walk to the beach. Pool was nice. Our biggest complaint, 5 pm check in is very late in the day (other rentals in the area are usually 3 or 4). So by the time you unpack and put away groceries, it’s time for dinner, and just felt like we couldn’t take advantage of the beach that day. That extra hour or two really makes a difference. But what was most frustrating is we know no one else was staying in the house prior to our stay (it was showing as available on Vrbo), so there’s no reason the house couldn’t be ready earlier. And in fact, they messaged us that it was ready before 2 pm, but this rental company charges $150/hour for an “early” check in. Other companies will usually reach out and let you know when the house is ready for you early. It’s no skin off their back to let us in early and would help guests have more time to settle in and enjoy our stay, yet they would not without charging (very steeply I might add). Instead we were dragging our luggage all over the shelter cove shopping center (we did not rent cars and the people driving had not arrived yet) waiting for 5 pm. So just not good customer service compared to what we’ve experienced with other companies, and makes us less likely to book with them in the future. There was a visible layer of dust on top of one of the ceiling fans and dishes left in the dishwasher when we got there, but otherwise the house was great.

GREAT VACATION

Our house was EXACTLY what we needed for our large family. Plenty of bedroom space, kitchen space and open area for gathering together. Great size pool and also very short walk to the beach. Accomodations were as good as advertised. GREAT VACATION...We'll be back..

Family vacation

Wonderful location. Overall great house. We did encounter a clogged sink at arrival which took a couple days to get fixed. Lights on pool didn’t work and didn’t get resolved, I didn’t realize you had to set up and pay extra to heat spa ( thought it was only for the pool heat) Cleaning items didn’t work (vacuum and broom was broken) Overall the house was very spacious and peaceful. Pool was clean and refreshing

Excellent house

We have stayed in this house several times. This was the cleanest at check-in and a small issue was handled promptly by the realty company. We had a wonderful vacation with no problems. Definitely recommend staying here.

A+ to HHH

We had a beautiful week at the beach this year. Our house was okay. We have outgrown it and the owners need to give it some TLC. It definitely needs some repairs and freshening up, but within minutes of my texting HHH for needed repairs, my request was acknowledged and the repair was were made quickly. Even with after office hour calls/texts service was provided.

It is hard to get everyone into Palmetto Dunes when arriving at different times.

“House of Symmetry”

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our oldest daughter nicknamed this the house of symmetry! Downstairs there were two matching king bedroom suites with enormous bathrooms and each having a huge walk-in closet. Each had a private door to a private deck facing the pool area, with a very large pool we all enjoyed. One of those downstairs suites had another bedroom, next to it, with two queen beds and a private bath. Upstairs, with an enclosed loft where the kids loved to play, were two matching bedrooms each with two queen beds. Both of those bedrooms had full size bathrooms. Downstairs in the center was a large great room, with sliding glass doors to the deck and pool area. Both rooms were nicely furnished and provided a large living room and dining room with seating for ten. The kitchen was ample with another table for six. Lots of handy appliances including a regular coffee maker and a Keurig, as well as an air fryer. Laundry was right off the kitchen. Great layout, no wasted space, very clean and a short 3 minute walk on a paved path to the beach. Only issue we had was the refrigerator needed to be replaced, but with one phone call VHHH management brought in a replacement for the week. If the owners get a new fridge, we’ll likely return to this house next summer. Truly more than met all our needs.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This property needs some updating. The location is great. Just minutes to the beach. The pool is a really nice size. We had issues with the refrigerator. I contacted the rental company on the first day about the refrigerator making a loud noise. The rental company brought a replacement on Monday, but put it outside the front entrance. We didn’t have ice or filtered water. All previous homes we rented had a second refrigerator which this home did not. When stating that you sleep up to 18 people I think this is a necessity. On Thursday the rental company did move the refrigerator inside the house but the whole thing was an inconvenience.

Mixed Bag

First of all let me say that this is a beautiful home we stayed at 3 times and we love it. Our experience with VRBO has always been excellent and we’ve used them many times over our 25+ years vacationing on HHI. My problem this year was with the property manager, Vacation Homes of HHI. We arrived on Saturday and found on Monday evening that our dryer didn’t work. Called and reported the problem and was told they knew about the problem and it wouldn’t be fixed until Thursday. So, I’ve paid almost $11,000 for a home and we can’t wash our clothes. The property manager’s response was that they had no control over the technicians who do the repairs. They had to order a heating element and wait for it to be delivered. I spent 40 years of my life in the service industry and I would have put someone in a car to go get a simple heating element which took less than 15 minutes to install. They also told me that they called me before our arrival on Saturday to inform me that the dryer didn’t work. I received no such call and they said I had given them the wrong number. The number they had was correct and I had my home phone transferred to my cell so there was no way they couldn’t reach me. If they didn’t reach me they should have left a message .At that point, we were already on the road and couldn’t have brought extra clothes.So, we spent 5+ days of our vacation without the ability to wash our clothes. Since they knew about the problem they should have continued to reach out.

The staff is professional and friendly. The house is conveniently located just a short walk from the beach. Palmetto Dunes offers tennis, golf and pickleball. Grocery stores, restaurants and shopping just outside PD. The house offers plenty of space for our team - great room, dining, well equipped kitchen, pool beach, 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms. We will definitely return to 4 Catboat.

Property is listed as a 10 adults rental. - Each upstairs bedroom did not have any dressers or drawers to put away clothes for the weeek. - the pool area has (3) lounge chairs for the entire group of Adults - the kitchen does not have cabinets or pantry storage for food, All food was left out on the counters2. Garage was locked and unavalable to renters for storage of beach chairs/ canopies.3. Backyard grille either needs replaced or burners replaced. Overall i would not rent this property again.

Vacationing with friends

Reviewer Comments: Every other year my family meets with 2 other dear friends from college and their families At Hilton Head Island. this year we landed in 4 Cat Boat. we loved the property! Location was wonderful. The house was clean enough, however it could use some updating. Lavatory faucets were the old crystal ball "pull up" style your grandparents had. Faucets are cheap to update. Kitchen, breakfast nook and laundry has a narrow one-way entrance. The range had a malfunction. the pool was hot and bad with algae. someone had left pool heater on. one call and it was corrected immediately. this brings me to the best part of the review. SERVICE! VH of HH was super! You cannot get better service. Thanks Andi and Shawna

Everything was great. There was plenty of room in the house. The pool can become kinda shady but that is just because of the trees. But all of us did not mind it because we all got plenty of sun on the beach, it was good to go to the pool later on. Walk to the beach was nothing but a min away. Overall great stay.

Nice house....Great location!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was just as expected. Any little problem we had the Vacation Homes Company was extremely responsive. The pool pump stopped circulating on the last day and had I known it would become unswimmable by the end of the day I would have fought to get someone there to fix it. I have rented a handful of houses and I would argue that it's better to leave basic cleaning supplies at the house in case of an accident or illness. It's just a little cost to the owner and creates the renter to be a little cleaner if needed. Also, I will never understand why some rentals don't allow condiments, spices and even baggies and aluminum foil to be left behind by each renter to avoid unnecessary garbage. I hate throwing all of that away at the end.

Great for kids

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house was perfect for us with school age kids. The pool is so close to the house, the picture is accurate (it’s always filled with leaves) we did have issues with the pool/spa heat but the manager did a great job taking care of it. The house was not dirty, but it also was not spotless. You could tell it has been well loved, which did make me less stressed about my kids being kids! It’s super close to the beach also and felt secluded with the foliage! We even had deer walk right into the yard with everyone outside being loud, twice! The beds were all comfortable so that was nice. They need more regular cups, especially for kids, as well as blankets if you want more than a thin bed spread.
