Almost a perfect beach vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We’ve vacationed at the Islander several times but this was our first stay in the “cottage” or detached unit. The unit is great except for the wifi not working. Without WiFi the smart tv apps do not work, so no Netflix, YouTube etc. I had a very important Zoom meeting and was allowed to use the Palm Room to access wifi which was very nice of the staff. We inquired about the wifi not working on 3 separate occasions during our 23 day stay - it was never fixed. I’m assuming the owner of the condo does not know about the issue. The Laundry exchange attendant lady was very rude. All of the other staff was very nice. We were forced to evacuate due to a hurricane and the days we missed were refunded with no hassle which was a huge relief. Alan the beach service attendant is super helpful. The Islander is one of our favorite spots to stay. We will be back!!

The perfect getaway

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this quick getaway trip! We loved the close proximity to the beach. We will definitely be back again!

Just Right!

We truly enjoyed our stay. It was the perfect and just right for our family of 6! The kids enjoyed the short walk to the beach as well as access to the pools! Extremely close to stores, restaurants, and overall a great experience! I would give more stars if I could!

Awesome Cottage!!

This was the perfect cottage for our Destin stay. The location was perfect and just a few hundred yards from the beach. The best thing about the cottage was that you didn’t have to worry about elevators or stairs, there were no neighbors, you could park right outside your front door, and you had the convenience of a condo type property but was in a house! We would definitely recommend and we will be staying here again in the future.

Great place to stay

The location is perfect! The pullout couch is not ideal-definitely an older model. The tennis courts at the resort are currently unavailable. Bryson, the beach attendant, was friendly and helpful. Overall, would recommend and would stay again.

Great property right by the beach!

Plenty of room to spread out. Other reviews don’t properly state how short of a walk it is to the pool and the beach. Kitchen has plenty of dishes and cooking instruments but no niceties like salt and pepper or coffee filters so be sure to pack those!

Good place for family

I like the slender because you arecliterally steps away from the beach, and they also offer two pools, places to grill, and activities. I plan to make coming to the Islander a family tradition. Comfort and Convenience

Walking distance to the beach, just steps away from the pool. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with pull out couch. Well stocked.

Great Stay July 2023

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This unit is secluded from all of the others and has a private entrance. NO elevators to go up and down I thinks its the best one out of all of them it is very quiet most of the time the only loud noises were when they are picking up the garbage. It is laid out the same as all of the other condos. This is our third time staying at the islander but our first time staying in 119. We had a great time no issues to report. If this one is ever for sale I would purchase it.

2/10 Horrible

Not as nice as the last few times

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented the cottage, the same as we have for the last 4 years. We noticed an infestation of large rats living in the trash chute, just next to the cottage. They were staring at us every time we sat on the back patio. We were afraid to have a beverage open as we did not want to encourage them to come even closer. When the trash service came to empty the dumpster, they spilled sticky trash juice all over the blacktop that smelled worse than a landfill. It would take most of the day for the smell to clear. We had to walk through this sticky mess every time we left to walk to the beach or the pool. I did let the lady at the front desk know how disgusting it was. It was definitely not worth the money we paid to stay here this year!

Islander Room 119

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our 3rd year in a row renting Room 119 at The Islander. We have always been pleased with our stay and love the cottage. The amenities are great, and we can tell there have been some upgrades the last few years. Although he is separate from The Islander, Alan, the beach chair attendant is amazing and such a pleasure to hang around. Our only comment would be to have some larger grills on the east side of the property or have a personal grill for the cottage.

It is the only stand-alone unit on the property. All of the other units are housed in the 7-floor complex. Unit 119 is very clean and very well equipped with linens and kitchen utensils.

Our unit had been the model, and owners had upgraded the unit with open kitchen, granite, counters, and cheerful decor. The Islander staff are all friendly and helpful.
