Great stay at Sunset Captiva

We had a great time here! It needed a bit of a cleaning when we arrived and the property manager took care of it immediately. Great communication and we had such a good time on the screened in porch. House needs a bit of an update compared to other homes we have stayed in at this property but it was just fine for the four of us. So close to the beach and the pool is great too. Also there is a ton of beach equipment to use which is very nice.

Pool looked inviting but spent so much time on beach that we didn’t get to use it. House while nice could use some updating in bathrooms most importantly. Albert and Rod were very responsive to our 2 small problems of screen room handle came loose and beach umbrella replacement after one of ours took sail on the only slightly windy day we had!Happy to see the recovery of Captiva. The last we visited was 2018 and had reserved for 2022 but unable to come until this visit!Hope to come back next year!!

Reviewer Comments: We had originally booked a week at another property managed by American Realty for March 2023, right before Ian hit.They worked with us to rebook our stay for Jan 2024, but when the property wasn't going to be available due to delay in repairs, they offered us this property. We were very happy with this unit and with the help Albert and Lisa provided us. This unit is up to date and very clean. The pool was great, and access to the beach was perfect. We would highly recommend this unit.

The property outside area manager was friendly and very informative. The house was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. We would have liked a broom to sweep the sand we tracked on outside steps and inside the front door. The electric outlet on the west wall in the dining room sparked. We noticed that most of the old outlets need to be replaced as device plugs don’t fit tightly anymore. We would rent this property again.

Loved the Sunset Captiva Community, but #56 needs some updating

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved the Sunset Captiva community. #56 was about a five minute walk to the pool and beach access. American Realty was very responsive and professional. The unit itself needs updating. Upon arrival, the toilet was running in master bedroom so we had to immediately have maintenance come fix that. While we were there, maintenance had to come and replace valves for insurance purposes. The A/C unit could not keep the unit cool during the daytime. American realty had someone come check it out, but not much they could do. Thermostat would be set to 72 and it would be 78 in unit. We would just go to the unit my brother rented to get cool! The back deck stairs were blocked off because they need to be replaced. The unit was clean and overall decorated nicely. I would definitely recommend American Realty and staying at Sunset Captiva, but maybe not this unit.

Sunset 56 Captiva Great Location

Well located - walking distance from beach walkway, downtown Captiva, and docks on bay side. House is clean and well furnished. Sunset Captiva development is beautiful with pool and tennis courts. We will be back...:)

The house was in an ideal location, clean and well appointed and very close to the beach...about 75 yards walk. Although we did not use the pool or tennis courts, they looked inviting. An ideal location central to everything Captiva.

Sweet Escape

My husband, four kids and myself had an amazing restful stay. Very charming home within walking distance to everything. The house had everything we needed with enough room for us to be together and have relaxing quiet time. There was one hiccup and within a few moments of me reaching out it was repaired. We will definitely be returning. Cannot say enough great things about this sweet escape.

Get what you pay for

This property is very outdated! Beds are like rocks. Furniture is filthy. Need more glasses, knives, salt and pepper. 2 rolls of toilet paper not adequate for 1 week.

Great location but dated house

Have stayed at Sunset Captiva many times and love the location on the island and the property. The property is well kept, including the pool and community grills and the very short walk to the beach is great. This particular house is dated, especially the bathrooms. The second bedroom was supposed to have a queen size bed but it definitely was not a queen. The air conditioner is old and there is a warning not to set it below 74, which did not keep the upstairs cool enough for sleeping, even in February. I cannot imagine what it is like in warmer months. In addition, the fan in the second bedroom was missing the pull cord so was not usable. The second bedroom is dark, with no overhead light and only one lamp that did not work when we arrived. The realty company managing the house was generally very responsive and replaced the lamp but said they would return to put a cord on the fan but never did. There are many beach chairs and a cart in the storage area below the house which was nice. Will be back to Sunset Captiva but will not stay at this house again.

Renting through American Realty Group

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay on Captiva in Sunset Captiva # 56. We have stayed in Sunset Captiva many times & are familiar with the experience. However the keys were not at the unit when we arrived. I went to the office to see where the keys were & was told to go back and wait. Had a car full of groceries & some went bad. Had to go back to office again because I was worried that the office would close and I still would not have the keys! Still no keys; eventually someone showed up and had 1 key that worked with the expectation that a new set would arrive on Monday. Did not happen. Not the best service and would not rent through American realty again. Property could use a little TLC.
