Great location and home with spectacular views

We had four families enjoying nearby skiing and snow boarding. The Chalet was beautiful with various activities for adults and children throughout the floors. The adults and children enjoyed the indoor jacuzzi, pool table and movie theater room. The owner is very responsive and helpful. Thanks for the memories.

Great View and excellent communication

We came with a group of friends to celebrate the new year. The house we rented is located in a place with a beautiful view. The house is clean and has enough parking for 4 large cars, the other cars we could park in the free car parking 3 miles from the cottage. We had a good time and if I could I would give the owner and manager 6 stars, excellent communication:) they both were very easy to reach during and after our stay.

Big Bear Treasure

This home was truly a delight to stay in. I am sure little, if any homes in Big Bear, compare to this 4000 sq ft home. The location is terrific, 1/2 mile from Bear Mountain, which you can see from the living room window, a beautiful view of the lake, and very close to town, stores, ect. This home has so many amentities, that if you had to be snowed in you'd never get bored. We loved our winter vacation at this home and I recommend it to anyone :) Sue

A Spectacular Retreat

We spent Thanksgiving and the weekend at this wonderful luxury chalet with 15 other family members. It is spacious, and the views are breathtaking. The cable for the tv didn't work, which originally concerned us because of all the football games we would miss. In the end it was better, because all the family then participated in the crazy games. We did go to a sports bar for a couple of games, but in the end we really didn't miss not having television, a the theater room was amazing. The young adults watched movies till after 2am each night.

Amazing Getaway

Me and several friends stayed at the luxury chalet for a ski weekend vacation. The home is very spacious and even with many guests, you will barely notice each other. The views are stunning and almost every room has an amazing view of the ski resort and Big Bear lake. The large movie theater downstairs is also a lot fun. The layout of the chalet makes it feel even more spacious. I would recommend the chalet to anyone with a large group or family who is interested in a quiet retreat. The chalet is just a minute or so from Big Bear ski resort and just a few minutes from Snow Summit and Big Bear Village. Grocery stores and restaurants are also very close. Everything that was promised from the rental description was provided. You will definitely get what you pay for and then some. The owner was great to work with and was very responsive to every question I had. We would love visit the Chalet again!

Good and bad

First the good - the home had an amazing view and the owner was responsive. It was large enough for all of us and had everything we needed. The bad - 1) the heater didnt work the first night and we were inside in our winter coats, socks, etc. The owner noticed the heat wasnt getting to temperature and helped us fixed it. (he was helpful and responsive). However the bottom floor (there are 3) never got warm and was in the 50's the entire time. The kids down there moved to the game room and slept on the floor. 2) they did not clear the entry!! there were 2 walkways to the front of the house and both had 1 foot thick of ice. How do we pay that much for a home that isn't safe to enter? My 70 year old mom and 17 year old niece both had a hard fall and we were all slipping around. there is no other access so no way around it. We tried to break it up but it was solid. It made loading, unloading, and walking our dogs very challenging.

Very disappointed

Very disappointing stay. All the roads were closed to Big Bear and the landlord was unreachable. I called and texted multiple times to see what we should do/to see if we could even get some of our money back and he was out of the country. Later sent me a picture of the lease saying “no refunds due to weather” so we roughed it up there with chains and trucks so we didn’t miss out on the $4,000 we put into this weekend. Surprisingly got up the mountain even though the property manager said it was a terrible idea to come up there. There was 1 trash bag and nothing in the kitchen (minimal kitchen supplies, not even cooking oil). For a house that sleeps 16 people it should be way more stocked than this. Since we couldn’t reach the landlord we had to pay someone $180 to plow the driveway so we could even stay there. I texted him after the trip to see if he would reimburse us for the plow and he wouldn’t refund me for the full amount. I’ve never left a bad review before, but was so disappointed in this stay I thought others should be warned.

Big Bear Chalet Visit Before New Years

We stayed at this house for four days between Christmas and New Years. There were 12 of us (three families). I have used VRBO at least 15 times and this was the only time where we had issues. Unfortunately, for the premium price we paid, we assumed that the house would be in good working condition. There were many things went going wrong mechanically in the house. The indoor hot tub was not working. A repairman came on day one and fixed it. But, it broke again the next day. Also, the icemaker was broken the entire time. We think this caused the refrigerator to malfunction since it broke on the 3rd day. We moved all of our food to the deck to keep it cold the last day (luckily, it was cold enough). The kitchen faucet was broken, the microwave tray was missing, lights downstairs were broken. . . The owner, Travis, was very kind and tried to get a repair person but couldn't get one there due to the holidays. On a positive note, there is lots of space with nice separation for people. The house had amazing views of the mountains and the ski areas. It was incredibly beautiful. So, this is a good place to stay if all the repairs get done.

Beautiful View

Beautiful home and the most amazing view of the lake and mountains. House was huge and the theater was a plus! Only issue we had was missing legs on the pull out bed in theater and the refrigerator truely does not stay cold. Yes there is a note on the refrigerator explaining to keep the door closed as much as possible but when you have 15 people in one house it’s pretty much impossible to keep it closed. But will these issues keep us from coming back? Oh heck no. We had an amazing 3 day weekend and didn’t worry about the small stuff. The hot tub was great and the pool table kept everyone entertained. Travis truely is a nice guy and has a beautiful home. Thank you for sharing your home with us and we hope to be back for next year’s family vacation. 😊

Incredible views

This house was perfect for our group. It was large enough to accommodate us with no problem. The place had all the essential items and was clean. The views were next level. Hands down best views from any property we’ve stayed at in big bear to date. The only downside was limited parking. Overall great experience!

Wonderful!

Beautiful home that is well taken care of. The host and property manager were wonderful and great to communicate with. The views are incredible! I highly recommend staying here.

Great house, view and host

Would stay here again

First off, the view is worth it alone. No matter what the season its bound to be gorgeous. Secondly, Travis was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the weekend. I texted him multiple times and he was always responsive and able to help. Thirdly, the house is just amazing for both small and big groups. It had tons of space and activities for everyone to entertain themselves. Just wish we had more time. As other people mentioned, the driveway is a little tight, but we were able to fit four medium sized cars (two sedans and two hatchbacks) without much inconvenience. The neighbor was also very friendly and helped us in. There is a dishwasher which was super handy when cleaning up and plenty of trash bags/cleaning supplies which made it easy when leaving. The top floor does get a little warm but the bottom two floors were nice and cool so you could escape if needed. Overall everyone was just amazed by the house and everything we had at our disposal for entertainment. Again, just wish we had a week here. Thanks Travis!

Perfect 'Get Away' Place

This is a very nice place for a group or family. Owner/Host is nice and cooperative. PLENTY of books, movies, & games. Dog run on property is a good addition. Everything in the house works and place is clean. Close to town, lake, & grocery/drug stores. Good place to stay on weekend while town is crowded - go into 'movie room' and watch movies or listen to a concert instead. Go to lake during week and rent a boat. Nice neighborhood to take a walk. You'll like this place!

Family weekend getaway

Used Vrbo app to rent home no issues, multiple emails sent regarding upcoming stay, info to know, etc. Owner communication was good, responded within a 24 hour period. He even called to update us on the areas new crack down on various issues(parking in the street, loud parties, etc) this helped avoid any citations we possibly could have gotten. The home it self if I had to give it an overall wow factor rating 7 out of 10. Great location close to everything. Slept my mixed party of 18(10 adults, 3 teenagers, and 5 children under 10) well. Lots of space, didn't have to worry about people being on top of each other. 2 washer and dryer sets. Bathrooms on every level, spa inside the home, work out station and treadmill had expected useage wear but worked as long as you know how to utilize them. Movie room is a great place to hang out, has a shuffle board as well, couches in there turn into beds, just be ready to bring blankets because it's probably the coldest room in the house. Kitchen provides various small appliances, dishware, large fridge, microwave, double wall oven, gas cooktop. Dinning area had plenty of space and the provided extra folding chairs helped seat almost every one at the table to eat. Parking truly will only hold 3 car, the only way you'll fit 4 is if you all drive mini cooper's or other compact car. We had 2 Audi 4 door sedans and one Dodge Durango space was tight but we fit without being in the street. No yard to play on so plan to find an area if you are looking to play in the snow. Then finally the view from the top level is priceless. Great photo spot. Now why the house isn't a 10 out of 10. The home was built in 1983 and many of the homes items don't look like they have been updated so prepare for that. One shower head drips, one shower caused leaking to level below, pool tables pockets are falling apart, one even allows balls to fall thru. Some windows and sliding doors are hard to open. The fridge smells like fish and overall kitchen cleanliness is questionable, felt like cleaner skipped cleaning that area. Went to use the BBQ and it was dirty even had a dirty plate inside. For the price paid for the weekend one would expect not to have to deal with these type of issues but for what the home is we enjoyed the weekend regardless. Would I go back yes. Just hopefully those issues are addressed and corrected before then.

Long weekend getaway

From the time we arrived we fell in love with this place. We had a minor issue with the water heater however Travis responded to the issue and quickly fixed the problem. Thank you Travis. We really enjoyed our stay in your home. Great movie room, we all watched the superbowl with great sound. We will be returning in the near future. We took the time to make sure the place was cleaned before we left but if there was something we overlooked please let me know. Thanks again, Gus
