Carefully curated upper-floor One Bedroom apartment includes private Bedroom, Bath, Living Room, Kitchen, Dining and Covered Front Balcony. Along with shared Courtyard in a historic 1920 duplex in the artistic heart of town. Walkable Starland is home to creative professionals, students, restaurants & galleries. Bike downtown or stay close & party like a Savannahian!

This home, suitable for two, has a unique artistic flair. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and the bathroom has both tub and shower. The living room offers a very comfortable sofa and a 42" smart TV with access to Netflix and Prime Video.
A mix of vintage and custom furnishing, with lots of mid century modern accents complete this ideal accommodation for your weekend trip to The Hostess City.
This historic house is a showplace for local, sustainable residential design. You'll see examples of this in the custom kitchen cabinetry, made by reclaiming the building's original pine subflooring, to the solar panel array on the roof (please don't try to go on the roof, you'll die). Our goal is to set new examples for the sustainable and creative retrofitting of historic homes, while boosting the community we are so privileged to be embedded in.

While we do work unusual and sometimes late hours, we can be reached with ease. We are very tight with all of our neighbors and someone can be available in short order if needed! This apartment does share walls with another guest suite (and your floors are someone's ceiling), but the unit itself is entirely private and each is accessed by its own entrance. It's an old building, so you may hear muffled voices or footsteps from other units, but can expect a hotel-level of privacy. (Feel free to tell your friends who didn't read the listing that those voices or footsteps are Savannah ghosts, it's what I would do.) You can choose to hang out with other travelers in our shared outdoor areas which is also a great way to meet our friendly neighbors.

The Starland Arts District, first developed in the 1920's for middle-class streetcar commuters, is the most exciting neighborhood in Savannah right now (ask the New York Times, they've profiled us twice). We are steps away from the Green Truck Pub, (the city's favorite restaurant), Starland Yard, Victory North and the world-famous Back in the Day Bakery. Graveface Records and the super local Starland District Shopping and Arts corridor is just 4 short blocks from our door.
Art March Savannah has us surrounded the First Friday of each month, with the Savannah College of Art and Design foundation studies school right up the road. Our neighbors, SCAD faculty, are presently converting their huge adjacent lot into an urban farm, you may hear their chickens clucking around from the courtyard. This is the freewheeling, vital part of Savannah you've heard about, where people still throw block parties, paint murals and build stuff with their hands.
All this action means it's also noisy sometimes, let us mention again the train tracks that cut their way across town. We have a love-hate relationship with these trains, but if you are a light sleeper or have trouble falling asleep, you won't find them charming. (Be sure to take a look at a map of Savannah before you choose your lodging as these tracks cut right across the heart of the city and can be heard loud and clear from most of downtown)
An easy one-mile bike ride gets you to the Landmark Historic squares and riverfront tourist attractions, but you won't feel a bit disappointed to come home to Starland each night. It's impossible to spend time here and not feel inspired.
If you are looking for the River Street tourist experience or an Olde South Antebellum B&B, please look elsewhere, we are NOT those hosts and this is not that neighborhood. Ours is a part of town where people still live, business are owned by locals and everyone takes great pride in our community. We are the most economically and racially diverse neighborhood in Savannah, and are proud to boast the lowest crime rates of anywhere downtown.
If this diversity is off-putting to you, we'll never be friends, please stop now and stay somewhere else. If you respect the uniquely wonderful fabric of integrated and emerging New Southern communities, if you're as excited as we are to be immersed in Savannah's creative culture, we're probably friends already and we really look forward to meeting you!
We do request that guests remove shoes in the house, this helps keep noise levels down for your downstairs neighbors. Most importantly: 100% no indoor smoking of any kind or events. We both live on site and WILL know. Engaging in either of those 2 activities will result in immediate expulsion, heavy fines, and/or legal consequences. Also, no local traffic of any kind allowed (this includes Chatham County, Effingham County, Bryan County, Tattnall County, Liberty County, and Jasper County SC).

Lovely Quaint Place in a Nice Neighborhood

We stayed here for a couple of nights to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. This is a charming spot in a quiet neighborhood. A quick ride to River Street but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet at the end of the day. We spent each night relaxing on the balcony before bed. Definitely would stay here again.

Was very unhappy dirty porch had plant material on it gave me 2 towels for 7 days toilet paper was the kind you get at the airport freezer broken just generally not a place you want to stay light bulbs out not well cared for don’t stay here

This customer tried to blackmail us. She did not give any complaints about towels, toilet paper, etc during her stay. Only after she had gotten back home did things start taking a turn-- we were harassed multiple times at many hours of the day, and then the client started talking about how she doesn't give bad reviews and then demanded money. We have been short-term renting our property for many years, and always make things right with our guests in the rare event of an incident. But even in an attempt to make things right with her, she stopped communicating when her week-long stay was not covered in full. Unless you like being blackmailed, I do not recommend hosting this person and we will be taking the proper measures to ensure she cannot short-term rent again.
