History buffs will want to explore the narrow cobblestone streets of this former Spanish colonial town, where nearly 5 centuries of history collide in the best way with quaint cafes, inviting bars and restaurants, charming bed and breakfasts, shops, art galleries and more. Ponce De Leon's legendary Fountain of Youth was discovered here near Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fort in the U.S. built by the Spanish in 1672 to protect the city from pirate raids.
