We've been coming to Gatlinburg since we were kids. Family vacations, big groups, just the four of us — it was always the mountains. When we finally had the chance to own a piece of it, we didn't have to think long. We chose the top of the mountain because that's where it feels different.
Haus of the Rising Sun sits at the very top of Ski View Drive in Panorama Point, above Ober Gatlinburg at one of the highest residential elevations in the area. The views from both decks stretch across Mount LeConte, the Gatlinburg valley, and Pigeon Forge beyond. On clear mornings the sunrise comes up over the ridgeline while fog sits in the valley below you. It's the kind of thing you don't expect until you're standing there.
THE SPACE
The cabin sleeps 7 comfortably. Downstairs is a king master suite with a full en-suite bath and direct access to the deck. Upstairs is a second king suite with a Jacuzzi jetted tub in the en-suite, a twin kids nook off the bedroom, and a queen pullout sofa — a flexible space that works well for families. The living area has a wood-burning fireplace that runs October through March and an electric fireplace upstairs year-round. The kitchen is fully equipped for real meals, not just coffee and takeout. Three TVs with streaming throughout.
OUTDOOR LIVING
Step outside to the covered hot tub on the deck and you'll understand why most guests spend more time out there than they planned. Gas grill with propane, deck dining table, rocking chairs. The community pool is a short walk and open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
We self-manage both properties and pick up the phone when guests call. After years of vacationing here ourselves, we know what makes a Gatlinburg trip worth the drive.
BOOKING BOTH CABINS?
Haus of the Setting Sun is directly across the street and sleeps 5. Together both cabins sleep 12 with separate spaces and shared mountaintop views. Good for reunions, multi-family trips, and groups that want to be together without being on top of each other.
