What we loved most about this property was the peaceful location. We have 2 dogs and the proximity to the bay beach was such a plus. It was nice to take them down in the morning with a blanket and a few chairs and tire the dogs out by throwing their frisbee into the water. Then, after we rinsed them off in the convenient area under the house, they napped while we enjoyed the beach. Although there were other beach goers there, no one was on top of each other by any means. You’re also right down the road from Beach Plumb, another dog haven. The property maintenance and cleanliness could use a little improvement (dirty oven, the hammock was not usable because one of the stumps was broken and one of the screen doors was broken) But the beds were very comfortable, the TV worked well and the indoor and outdoor relaxation areas were fantastic. Just know that you have a bit of a drive to get to restaurants, nightlife, shops, etc. and you’ll hit some traffic at times. But it’s a small price to pay for the peace and quiet of this location.

Dog heaven

Loved this property. Super dog friendly. Especially loved the proximity of the beach. It was super quiet and very relaxing.

We had a very relaxing week in Broadkill. Although it was chilly and we had a bit of rain, it was what we needed and the house was perfect

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Dishwasher was broke. Grill was broke. Hammock broke after a storm on the 2nd night. The washer, dryer and half bath are only accessible by going outside of the house, down stairs, and into the basement door under the house. There's poison ivy in the path to the deck stairs off the side of the house.The house was smaller than expected but the open layout of the kitchen and living area was nice.There's no direct access to the canal.Beds were comfortable and we were able to check in early.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry that several maintenance issues impacted your stay. Regarding the dishwasher, we were aware of the issue before your arrival. Once reported, we had a technician inspect it and learned that the hose had developed a hole and that a door balancing kit was needed. Unfortunately, the part had to be ordered, so it could not be resolved immediately. The grill also had an unexpected issue with the regulator hose. Our handyman worked on it and, after a few days, was able to bypass the side burner so the grill could be used. The hammock was damaged during a severe storm. While we certainly understand the frustration of losing an amenity during a stay, the damage was weather-related and outside of our control. We also understand your concern regarding the location of the washer/dryer and half bath. The half bath is located underneath the home and is accessed from outside, down the stairs and into the lower level. We recognize that this may not be obvious from the listing, so we have since updated the property description to make this arrangement clear for future guests. As for the canal access, the property is directly bay front, and there is access to the bay from the property. We’re not sure where the expectation of access to the canal across the street came from, as that is not part of the property or advertised as an amenity. We appreciate the feedback regarding the poison ivy as well and will make sure that area is addressed. We strive to provide a comfortable and accurately represented property, and we’ve taken your comments seriously and used them to improve the experience for future guests.

September week vacation

We loved our stay in broadkill. The place was very clean, quiet and relaxing. You could hear the waves and the beach was very nice. Our dog and baby had the best time.

Rented the property before. The kitchen is well-equipped, beds are comfortable. There is direct access to the beach and a great variety of birds! (oh, yeah, well, and flies if the wind is from the west). Both the owner and rental company are responsive.Would recommend.

Sucluded Beach Property

Very clean property steps away to a sucluded beach. There is no parking or access to beach other than those staying here. Broadkill store does make good pizza. House has all your amenities. I would go back in a heartbeat

Great beach house

Only couple minor things when we arrived. Living room rug had couple threadbare spots Broken board outside shower and previous trash not picked up. But the place is an awesome beach house We would definitely rent this place again next year.

Very easy beach access, which was perfect for toddlers. The one thing is we didn’t know if we had access to the laundry room area in the pictures. I got too involved with enjoying my vacation to call and ask.

Relaxing/Quiet Beach

Reminded me of the Outer Banks. Beach nice and quiet with plenty of room for beach activities. Able to take the dog. House quaint and costal. Only bad things; two bedrooms are not private, open at the top, needed drain cleaner for the water to drain out of tub. Also, water was shut off one day from 10am to 4pm.

Wonderful house on a great stretch of beach

This is a great house for our small family to spend time together walking on the beach, visiting Lewis, or going to Rehoboth, It's only 2 bedrooms, but has a spacious living area and more than enough deck space. Broadkill Beach is a quiet area with few people on the beach, lots of crabs, and quite a few on-beach vehicle fishing (mostly at the middle and end of island). This is our 4th visit to this house and we will likely return again next year. There have been a number of nice updates to the house this year.

We had a pretty nice stay at this house on broadkill beach

Checking in was convenient and the house was lovely. Although upon arrival we had to clean dog hair from the freezer, furniture, and decorations. The upstairs bathroom was not very clean, and the down stairs bathroom had to be cleared of dirt/sand, spiderwebs, and spiders. When cleaning for checkout, the vacuum cleaners were full of dog hair and the wheels fell off of one of them. Aside from cleaning issues the house was very nice and we had a good time. Also the location and surrounding area is very nice.

The property is overall quite dark. That matters if your renter is older. Though most of the kitchen was clean, the stove/oven was not. The doors to the deck need maintenance. The one on the right is particularly difficult to open or lock. Though the space in the living area isn’t nearly as large as the online photos suggest, it is adequate, however, the coaches have suffered from a great deal of use and dont provide adequate support. The trash cans could not be found on the property so we had to bring out trash back with us. In addition, we couldn’t locate any trash bags. Fortunately, we had brought some with us, but I am not sure that the online information makes it clear that you need to bring your own. Though we love Bayshore Drive and want to return; we will probably try to find another listing for our next year’s visit.

Gorgeous house, great location

Overall the house was great. It was perfect for two couples and had everything we needed with direct access to the beach. A few little things though kept me from giving 5 stars. The walls are VERY thin. You will absolutely hear everything in the other rooms. Ahead of our stay, the property manager was quick to respond however once we arrived we could not get an answer either via email or phone call to the number provided. There is a lower level where the washer/dryer was that was locked. We asked how to access but never heard back. As we were leaving we found a key on the floor marked as laundry. This definitely should be put somewhere better for folks to see and use. The deck also is in need of repair. There are a lot of places where the screws are not flush or boards are broken/splintered and you will cut your feet. Overall I would recommend this house but be advised.

Reviewer Comments: The beach house was in a great location, the beach was beautiful and the sunrises were amazing from the living room. There were a couple of issues- the outside yard area was not maintained, beach weeds were 4 feet tall so my short legged dogs could not use the yard, this meant we needed to take them on walks to do their business.The washer and drier area could of used some cleaning. Sand in the washing machine and a thick layer of dust on both the washer & drier. The top oven needs to be cleaned, we couldn't use it due to spillage from another person. Garbage & recycling had not been picked up and the schedule on refrig is last years schedule (2022). I had to call the management company to get it picked up. It would be great for the owner to supply wine glasses and a welcome book with directions to TV and general household instructions as well as suggestions for the area..i.e restaurants, grocery stores, medical facilities, etc.

Nice house in a beautiful location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is a great size for a small family. It was specious for us and seems as if it would be comfortable for 6. Proximity to the beach is the main draw and is as close to a private beach experience as I can imagine. Most of the week it felt like we were the only ones there. There is plenty of wildlife in the area: fiddler crabs, birds of all kinds, rabbits, and foxes were seen daily. The house is comfortable and the kitchen well-appointed. There was plenty of toilet paper (be sure to use theirs due to septic system) and cleaning products. The house has pillows and blankets. The grill is quite large and works well. Neighbors are quiet and nice. Be sure to bring bug spray. Flies can be irritating, but never drove us from the beach in July. Broadkill Beach is a nice place to bike with the store at one end and nature preserve at the other. Lewes is only 20 minutes away, and Rehoboth is 40 with summer traffic.A few minor issues:- Poison ivy lines the path to the beach and outdoor shower. - The wooden floor of the outdoor shower is beginning to disintegrate leaving nail heads exposed in a small area.

Comfortablebeach cottage

Overall, we were pleased with our stay. The cottage is right on the bay, though it's a bit of a walk across the dunes to get to the beach. It's cozy, modern, and clean. It's obvious that the owner take good care of the home. It's attractive and well maintained inside and out. The bedrooms are very small with just enough room for a queen bed in two of them and a set of bunk beds in the third. But the common area is large and open and the kitchen is well equipped. However, the check-in process is rather cumbersome. You have to seek out a lock box to get the keys to the house and it is not easy to find. If not for a knowledgeable customer at the nearby Broadkill Market I wouldn'thave found it. The house itself is advertised as sleeping eight and 1-1/2 bathrooms, both of which are misleading. Though you could technically sleep eight people, two would be sleeping on a fold out sofa in the common area. And all would be sharing the single small bathroom, The half bath is in the basement of the house, accessible only from outside, and consists of a toilet sitting in the middle of a dark unfinished space next to the washer and dryer, with no privacy whatsoever. That is not a half bath. IMO,the house is prefect for a couple with or without two or three young children. A larger party would be more comfortable in a larger house.
