Coastal Farmhouse

If you like the quiet of woods near the coast and a place to kayak to the Sound, this is a great place. Coastal 1920's farmhouse located on a creek which connects to Core Sound. Its a quiet property wooded with Live Oaks and Pine trees and borders Glover creek. Fish from the shore or take your kayak through the lagoon inlet into Core Sound and explore the coastline. (Sorry we don't supply fishing poles or kayaks but you're welcome to bring yours!). We do have a crab trap that you can throw out and catch blue crabs!
While we are not on the beach, we are close to Cedar Island.
It's a 10 minute drive to Cedar Island. There is also a Sound side beach especially on the right side of the ferry that's great for kids!
We are 15 minutes from The Cape Lookout Ferry in Davis which can take you and your car or just you to the less visited part of the island (north of the light house) of Cape Lookout National Seashore.
We are 45 minutes from Harkers Island which has people ferries to Cape Lookout National Seashore Light house and or Shackleford Banks. You can take the ferry to Cape Lookout and enjoy the day shelling. At the Cape Lookout Light house there are beaches on both the sound and Atlantic Ocean side and a beach shuttle that can take you to the point. At the visitor center there you can rent a side by side as well.
An hour away is Fort Macon beach / Atlantic Beach which has miles of beaches and plenty of waves.
Atlantic Beach is 60 minutes away but there is shopping, restaurants and great beaches!
Beaufort is only 35 minutes away, where you can enjoy shopping and restaurants or take a ferry to Bird Shoals or Shackelford Banks.
The house has 4 bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate only 6 people.

Fisherman’s Dream

We loved our stay. Great to have water access behind the house with direct access to Core Sound. Well equipped kitchen, very relaxed feel to the property. We enjoyed it so much and hope to be back next year. Thank you!

Costal but remote!

A beautiful home engulfed in a remote area that we fell in love with. After meeting and speaking with numerous locals this is definitely a place we will be returning too. Cynthiana's communication was perfect along with the amazing home. Highly recommend to all those seeking a relaxing location!

Lovely farmhouse, beautiful property

My family (myself, husband, 3 teens and an Australian Shepherd) loved this wonderful, cozy old house and large, beautiful property. It is very remote and quiet, which was perfect for us. But it’s a short drive to various ferries to undeveloped, beautiful islands, fishing charters, a sound beach, etc. And a slightly longer drive (45 mins or so) to busier beach towns, if you want that.The house was scrupulously clean, and well equipped. Cindy, the host, was wonderful; quick with replies, generous with info and tips, and helpful when we locked our dumb selves out of the house! I would happily recommend this place to anyone looking for peace, relaxation, and beauty, with some beachy adventures thrown in.

January stay

We had some friends from out of state that met us down at the house. We found the house very clean when we got there, and more spacious than we had expected. It had all the laundry and kitchen amenities needed for a week (or more) stay We will likely be renting this location again for future trips.

Family time

Great place for the family. A short kayak ride to the soundside beach for the grandkids to play on a protected beach. Huge yard with lots of shade. Close to Salters creek boat ramp for the power boat. Close to nothing except Dollar General, but we really like remote. Thanks for a great place for our family to stay.

Second Visit

Cindy-Thank you for supporting another great family vacation! Your place was exactly the balm we needed after another year of Covid looming. We spent our time at the local beaches, fishing, finding the feral cows at Cedar Island, riding the ferry, and exploring the Aurora Fossil Museum and the NC Aquarium. It was great to come back after each adventure to your comfy cozy house. We loved staying with you again this year.

Home away from home

stay! The house is so pretty and the property next to a little creek allowed us to do a little kayaking off beaten tracks. The property was also close enough from a ranch for us to have a ride at sun rise. An incredible experience! Our hostess was very kind and answered very quickly to all our questions.

Home away from himey

We loved every minute of our time here. It was spacious, comfortable, inspiring property and house. We loved kayaking, catching crabs and adventuring locally. I think we ate every meal but one on the fabulous screened porch. We love birds and birding and we could easily watch green herons, red-headed woodpeckers, great created flycatchers and orchard orioles from the backyard. This is a special place, both the house and the community. Well worth the trip!

Relaxing getaway

We were worried our trip was going to be a disaster as a hurricane was coming through on our check in date. The host was amazing and let us push it back 2 days. We ended up having the best time. Brought our kayaks and fishing poles and spent every day out on the water. Enjoyed the fire pit at night. Watching the sky. The jets and helicopters were loud but so cool to watch. Definitely need lots of bug spray for the mosquitos! The dogs had plenty of space to run and play. We would absolutely come back again! We loved it!

Peaceful and beautiful

We stayed for a week, my husband, 15 yr old son, and I, and absolutely loved it! Beautiful home with quiet and privacy. We would drive into town and spend the day on the beach, went on ferry out to the islands,, went deep sea fishing, ate local fresh seafood, and shopping all day. In the evenings we could come back to this beautiful home to grill, play games and spend family time on the huge screened in porch without the crowds and noise of staying in the city. There is a canal/inlet behind the house that our son enjoyed kayaking and fishing and we could set outside and enjoy the sunrise over it. Property manager, Cindy, was amazing. Answered all of our questions and recommended things to do and places to visit. The house had everything you would need and was like being at home. We definitely recommend and will be back as soon as we get the time away again! ♡

Perfect for Our Needs

Beautiful Property

My husband and I rented this house for ourselves with our dog (and a friend joined us for a night.) The property is so beautiful - the pictures don’t do it justice. We had everything we needed for the stay and it was great for us - it wasn’t overly fancy, which is perfect for us because we were going fishing and crabbing outside, cooking, and coming home covered in sand. The AC was very cold, which was awesome with the weather being 95/feels like 150! Our only complaint was really with the area - after it rained, the mosquitoes were so bad that we couldn’t even go outside. We fished at Cedar Island and once we were off the water, it was just as bad there - so pack your sprays and Thermacells if you visit in the summer! We would absolutely come back - and honestly, before the bugs started, we were going to see if we could rent the house for a whole month next summer, that’s how much we liked it - but the bugs were rough.

Farm house at Sea Level

The house was very clean and well kept. Communication was easy and prompt. It was a breeze to check in and out. It is a very lovely piece of property, quiet and secluded.
