Retiro del Observador de Aves. Hermosa casa en un entorno arbolado junto a una reserva natural. Duerme 6. Tres dormitorios: Master Suite con cama queen size, segundo dormitorio con cama matrimonial, tercer dormitorio con dos camas individuales. Dos baños Patio trasero y un solárium junto a la cocina. Lavadero con lavadora / secadora. Conexión inalámbrica a internet. Chimenea de leña. Aire acondicionado central en cocina, sala de sol y sala de estar. Todas las habitaciones tienen convenientemente unidades individuales de aire acondicionado mini-split con control remoto montadas en la pared con una configuración de modo silencioso. Centro de la naturaleza con senderos se encuentra a 10 minutos a pie. Sunday Farmer's Market se encuentra a 5 minutos a pie (inviernos cerrados). Adorable clean cottage convenient to mystic

This cottage was super cute and clean. Well appointed and stocked kitchen. Easy walk to downtown mystic and easy to get to I95. Mary was so helpful and communicated often. We would definitely stay here again!

Nice Stay in Mystic

Mary’s home was wonderful. Great location and very clean. Better stocked than anyplace we have stayed before. Mary was easy to communicate with and was ready to help with anything needed. The house is a real gem. We hope to stay again sometime. The location was great. Private, quiet yet easy to get to the attractions.

Great location!

We loved Mary’s place! It was perfect for our group which included 4 adults and 2 kids (4 and 7). There were so many books for the kids (and adults too!) to enjoy and they also loved the toys! The house was comfortable and clean and communication with Mary was so easy. She thought of every detail. It’s also close to all the local attractions but on a nice quiet street. I would highly recommend staying here!

Most organized Host ever!

Mary's home is a sweet getaway in a country setting just 3 mins to Mystic by car. The house had everything you could possibly need. Mary was one of the nicest and most responsive hosts I've ever dealt with on VRBO. The home itself is a perfect size! The layout is great with bedrooms separated from the main living area. We really loved our stay there and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Great spot in Mystic

Mary is a very communicative host. Check in was easy The house is darling. The back patio has so many bird feeders which makes it really fun to watch. We grilled out which was nice. Very easy to get to town. One note, the 2nd bathroom is next to the kitchen and not near the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. Loved our stay.

Lovely home

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely home. Mary was super accommodating. The home in a great location. When we arrived, there was a doe with 2 fawns in the drive way. Bird feeders all over the property. Just beautiful!

Wonderful Home!

What a great trip to Mystic and this home was amazing! The location is ideal - away from downtown traffic, yet only a 4/5 minute drive from all the attractions. Beautiful home fully equipped for cooking your fresh seafood dinners, enjoying reading in the lovely sunroom or spacious patio, and has everything you need and more. Mary is absolutley wonderful and was so helpful with area questions before we even arrived. We will definitely be back again.

Perfect location

Great location for the Sergio concert and touring Mystic, Stonington, Westerly & beyond. Spotless! Swarming insects made getting in & out of the car difficult & sitting outside impossible—perhaps seasonal?? Strong musty smell in entrance foyer.

Lives up to the hype!

Adding my 5 star review to the list of many! The Little House is just as wonderful as the listing and other reviews make it out to be and Mary is an exceptional host. We stayed for a long weekend and were able to enjoy so many of Mystic’s attractions thanks to the great location. We’ve stayed in several VRBO properties before and the Little House was far and above the cleanest as well as best cared for we’ve experienced. Our 3 children were all daydreaming about living there forever!

Wonderful experience

Mary is the perfect host! She accommodated our needs before during and after our stay. The house layout was ideal for our group. Laundry room right off the entry, bbq patio with umbrella table and chairs, sunroom for dining and post dinner card games, seperste ac units for each bedroom, well equipped kitchen, privacy and nature located 5 minutes from groceries and restaurant. We could not have been more satisfied with our stay. Thanknyou Mary for everything!!

Closet to Everything!

Our stay at Mary's home was lovely. It served as home base for my annual girls' trip for myself and 2 daughters and provided everything that we could have needed. My children (2 & 4) loved the toys and spent much of our free time enjoying them, especially the picture bingo! The yard was private and well cared for. I enjoyed morning coffee on the patio and the variety of wild life! We visited the seaport and aquarium; ordered in from Mystic Pizza (for delivery after 4 p.m.!), and found Dog Watch, which was a great/close eatery with a kids play area! We would totally stay at here again in the future! Thanks, Mary!

Birdwatchers Paradise close to everything Mystic

It was perfect. We were looking for a short get away that provided some fun things to do as a family, but also a quiet place to retreat. That is exactly what the little house offered. We spent hours enjoying the birds both from the window seat in the sunroom and from the back patio with a cup of tea or coffee in hand. There are several bird feeders on the property and if you have a keen eye you'll see humming birds, woodpeckers, nuthatches, sparrows, cardinals, blue jays and more. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were very comfortable, and the towels were soft and plentiful. Mary responded immediately with answers to any questions we had. She also has the house labeled so you can figure out which light switch turns on which light and where to find everything. The house is only minutes from Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, Olde Mistick and downtown Mystic, all of which we enjoyed visiting. We also traveled a little further to Niantic to the Book Barn (huge used book store). The only downside was that we had to leave. I would happily return to this little house and bird watching paradise.

Utterly Charming

Utterly charming cottage that backed to woods (we saw several deer); gleaming hardwood floors, lots of windows, large kitchen, very spacious. Loved the glass panel door to the bedroom wing and the built-in bookcases in the hallway which were well stocked with books and movies! You’ll gravitate to the bright sunroom/dining room with windows on three sides and a view of the many bird feeders which Mary has kept well stocked, summoning dozens of feathered friends to our continual delight. It. Was. Magical. Home was very clean and well kept; beds were super comfy. Mary is a terrific and responsive host. Location is perfect - just minutes from downtown Mystic. Loved our stay!

Amazing Rental Property

This house was amazing. The back yard is beautiful, and so many birds watch. It's private and relaxing. And so close to the Aquarium and Olde Mystic Village. We had a wonderful stay, and felt right at home. Mary made us feel she would be easy to reach if we needed her for anything.

Perfect retreat in a fabulous location

We had a great stay in Mystic! The home had everything we needed, and more! We stayed here while our kids attended sailing camp at Mystic Seaport, but hope to come and stay again as there is so much more to see and do! Right from making our original booking - the communication with Mary was timely and informative, we cannot recommend this home, and Mary highly enough!

Perfect Week Getaway

We had a great week summer family vacation in Mystic. The house was in a private location but close to everything. The house was clean, comfortable and easy. Perfect with our 2 little boys. We enjoyed all the activities of Mystic and the gorgeous RI beaches!

4th of July Weekend Trip

One person in our group has limited mobility and the layout of the house was perfect. There was just a small step to enter the house, which she managed easily. The owner of the house was very communicative and helpful. The house was very clean and we loved watching the birds out the window. It was a great weekend!

Great stay

Everything was perfect. The hostess was incredibly nice, we were coming right on the heels of the hurricane Henri and she offered us the option of canceling throughout the uncertainty period and she kept us informed as to the weather down there. We are so glad we did go, it was a beautiful house in a lovely location. Quiet and isolated but very close to downtown and everything one might want to do in Mystic. Don't hesitate on this one!

Great house, great location

My family (wife and 2 toddlers) and I recently stayed in this house and loved it. The house was the perfect location. It was within 6 minutes of everything we wanted to do in Mystic (i.e. the Seaport Museum, the aquarium and multiple restaurants). The house was very clean, well maintained and had great amenities. My toddlers spent hours reading the kids books and playing with the toys & games. It also brought me peace of mind to see that toys were cleaned and sanitized between stays. The rooms had individual AC units which were perfect at night. We also appreciated the simple touches of having a beach umbrella and chairs available for us to use and plastic utensils/plates available to make dinner clean up easy. We have already recommended this house to our friends for their future trips. Thanks for the great vacation experience, Mary!

Magical Mystic

This is how my daughter characterized this trip, and she was right. This was our first vacation in 2 years, and was a combination family reunion, for our fully vaccinated family , and a baby shower for my daughter. We had permission from Mary to have this large event. We had family come from 5 states, and everyone just loved the house. We were so comfortable and we had everything we needed to have the best vacation. We hope to be back with the baby!!

My niece, Liz, and her husband, Toby, co-own our vacation home with me. Liz and Toby live in the house I grew up in, which is just on the other side of the woods behind the John H. Goodman house. Liz is our local contact for guests, and she does all of the housekeeping. Toby does all of the grounds care, and I often wonder how he fits it in. I do all of the bookings and am the initial guest contact, which I enjoy. I am a Mystic native, and I had to move to San Diego for work. I miss Mystic and my family, and I plan on retiring here, in this house. I recently acquired a newer-model VW van, and I enjoy camping and hiking whenever I can. We love our house and we take pride in it.

THE JOHN H. GOODMAN HOUSE
The land that this house is built on was owned by John H. Goodman, my paternal grandfather. He inherited the land from Mrs. N. Stanton Gates, who was the last Denison to live in the Denison Homestead (which is just up the road from the house). He was a master gardener and took care of the house and gardens for Mrs. Gates at the Denison Homestead for 15 years until she passed away, and the Homestead became a museum. He, his wife, and his two boys loved Mrs. Gates, and she was very kind to them all. He created and maintained a large cutting garden next to the Homestead barn, so that Mrs. Gates could always have fresh flowers during the warm season. He designed and created colorful, serene gardens surrounding the Homestead. I remember a beautiful scallop shell birdbath in the middle of one garden. He used to put sunflower seeds in an old, broken tobacco pipe, and as he stood outside with the pipe in his mouth, the chickadees would come and get the seed from the pipe bowl. He tended the orchard, cut 9 cords of firewood every year to heat the Homestead, and was Mrs. Gates chauffeur and trusted friend. When Mrs. Gates died on February 9th, 1941, she bequeathed my grandfather 10.5 acres of her land, part of which this house now stands upon and is surrounded by. She wrote in the will that “he had been so kind and helpful to her. “ He was the only person to inherit land from her, as all the rest went to the Denison Society and is now part of the Nature Center. The picture hanging over the fireplace mantel is the front door of the Denison Homestead, where love and kindness reigned. We hope that you can feel the spirit of all who came before, as you relax and enjoy our peaceful little house on this special piece of land.
