Horrible and not new as advertised
Horrible!Our family (me, my husband, our two adult sons, one with a wife and two kids) take a vacation every year in May. Usually around Memorial Day.This year the married son and his family could not go on the trip we had planned, so we decided to take a quick weekend trip in OC. It’s close by and we’ve been there before.I like nice houses with nice finishes and I’m willing to pay for it. The previous rental had been sold and so was no longer available for rent.This house was advertised as ‘newly constructed ’. The pictures show a new kitchen and the pictures of the furniture looked great. The house was on the beach block, so I expected to pay a premium. It is only a block to the beach.The price per night is high. However, it was not newly constructed. In fact, I looked up the history and found that it was built in 1920. The kitchen is updated but nothing else. Kitchen/living room floor is dated. The sofa so badly stained, I covered it with spare blankets to feel comfortable sitting on it. The dining room table badly scratched.We had the second floor unit. We’ve done that before. However, it was two flights of stairs to get to the main level. Worse, the master bedroom was another flight of stairs. My husband and I got our steps in that weekend. I made the host aware of the issues I had with the house. I expected new construction and for the nightly price, nice furnishings. Don’t fall for this scam. The house is not new.
