Island Life | Pet Friendly, Canal Home, Community Pool!

Island Life in a professionally decorated canal home can be yours! This four-bedroom home is located on an oversize lot in Jamaica Beach. Island Life is unique, charming and so well done - this will be your "go-to" vacation rental home on Galveston Island.

This home has an open concept living/dining/kitchen area with an extra-large balcony and extended balcony out to the canal. Ample seating in all areas for guests to enjoy views of the canal, sunset, and cool breezes. The kitchen is fully equipped for meals for 14 guests.

This specially designed home has two bedrooms up and two bedrooms at ground level (not connected by an interior staircase, perfect for guests with mobility issues or two separate families who like to share). Upstairs the primary bedroom has a queen bed, ceiling fan and large flat-screen TV, en suite bath with a large step-in shower. The second bedroom also upstairs features a queen bed and television. The second bath upstairs has a step-in shower. The third bedroom at the ground level is a bunk room - one twin over full bunk bed and one twin over twin bunk bed in this room. The fourth bedroom has two twin beds that may be pushed together for a king.

At ground level, the sleeping accommodations are in a Jack-n-Jill style separated by a mini kitchenette with coffee pot, and a full bathroom with shower. The washer and dryer are also located in this area.

The outside of Island Life is where the fun really begins - so much space for everyone to spread out and enjoy a weekend at island life. The decks and balconies have a variety of tables and chairs for gameplay, afternoon cocktails, fish cleaning station, underwater fishing lights! This home also has a boathouse where guests may tie off their marine vessels! This home also has an outdoor shower to rinse off if you swim in the canal.

City Park Pool open from Memorial Day - Labor Day Tuesday - Sunday 12pm - 7pm with a daily charge.

Guests who wish to launch their boat must obtain a boat ramp pass from Ryson Vacation Rentals. Boat ramp passes are available for a daily charge.

This stay was fine there are a few things that need attention. The master bedroom shower was not working it was reported but no one came out. The stove was very weird and would go on and off while cooking. And they have a problem with roaches we had a few crawling on kitchen floor and in my dogs food bowl and on the wall of living room that needs attention ASAP. Otherwise it’s a nice house and good location very roomy with 2 rooms downstairs so families have separate spaces.

Far far far too many maintenance issues.

The accuracy of this listing is inaccurate and very misleading. We were thoroughly disappointed by our stay and would not return. The house had far too many simple maintenance issues that are not being addressed. We contacted the management company 5 times and it took until our third day to send anyone round. The team managing the home are incompetent. If I were the owner of this house I would be very disappointed by them and looking for a new management company. To name a few of the issues, wobbly bunk beds which we couldn’t let our kids sleep in, tvs that don’t turn on, side lights that don’t work, no dock lights so we couldn’t sit out at night, upstairs deck lights also didn’t work, Dirty pillows, a grill that had completely rusted, not one but five empty gas canisters. To top things off they sent a realtor to show the house without warning us. Just rude. We tried repeatedly to get maintenance to address this but were simply fobbed off each and every time. The house has so much potential but until someone spends some time fixing things it’s not worth renting. Such a shame as the house could be great if someone paid some attention and care to it. They promised to call us back and provide me with an email for management so that I could Complain to them rather than here in the review. I am still waiting. We checked out early.

home is in need of a good cleaning.... toilet in hallway ran the whole time we were there outdoor furniture filthy, carpet had stains doors and knobs and cabinets filthy made us afraid to touch anything no cleaning supplies available to clean and no hot water to wash dishes or baith. 3 men showed up to do some maintenance while we stayed 3 different times

Canal house

We really enjoyed the property. The house was big enough for our family of 10. The canal location was perfect for fishing, crabbing, canoeing in the water. Only a short drive to the beach. The neighborhood was having water issues and a few times we had very little water pressure or no water at all. That was very inconvenient. The kitchen was very unorganized. Plates, cups, dishes randomly placed wherever. This made it difficult to find what you needed. They only provided one hand towel for the kitchen, so we bought our own. The kids lower level and not connected to the upper level with an interior staircase. This wasn’t an issue for our kids, but it would be a problem with younger kids. Over all, a great house, great location and we would definitely stay there again.

Family Summer 2022

Overall the stay was very nice and we would probably stay again. The pictures are a little deceiving as they make the place look larger that it really is. The location was very good too. We really like the community pool. I was a little surprised at the condition of the bbq grill. We wouldn't even try to light it. The burners were all rusted through. Good thing we brought our charcoal grill. There had been some repairs to the upper deck which was good but there were all sorts of loose nails all over the place and some stuck in between the decking. Really bad with small children playing. The refrigerator is really nice but needs some adjustments. It froze some of our drinks and the freezer did not freeze or keep frozen some of our items. Some of the fan remotes did not work and we had to go buy batteries. Some of the TV remotes needed batteries too. We were very good about picking up our dogs poop but whoever was there before us left plenty in the yard. Also, some of the railing needs to be looked at. There are several slats that are loose both upstairs and downstairs. We had to use pliers to turn on the outside shower because there is not a knob. I almost feel that the owners don't visit much and rely on the management company to keep up with repairs and such and a lot is overlooked so they can just keep it rented.

We’d rent again just a few things needs updating.. downstairs shower AC no mop outdoor furniture upstairs and more seating upstairs living area. All though we made it work and enjoyed our family vacation

Great for large family groups

We spent 3 nights at this property. We had a total of 12 people in our group and felt that we had plenty of room. The kids loved fishing off the dock and actually caught quite a few fishes (that we released back to the water). We brought an inflatable kayak and they paddled around the canal. The house was well equipped. We bought boogie boards and sand toys, just to find they had some at the house in the large box downstairs. It was one of the most relaxing trips we've taken. Sitting on the decks with the gulf breezes is just what we needed. The canal was very peaceful. The location is great, in a quiet neighborhood, on the canal for calm water and a quick drive through the community to get to the beach. FYI..The bunk room and the room with two twin beds are located downstairs with no inside access to the upstairs, which was fine for us because we had some older kids, but if you have a lot of littles you might not want to be separated that way. It does have it's own bathroom with shower downstairs for those rooms, so it worked well for us. Also bring some extra toilet paper, we were starting to run out the last day.. We would definitely stay again.

This was our second time to stay at this location. Love the house and the location.

Do agree with some of the previous reviews commenting on the kitchen pots and pans; could use a bit of an upgrade. Overall the house is great! We will definitely stay there again.

Pleasant Relaxing Family Stay

Enjoyed being on water with the canal access. Bought inflateable boat for fun and fishing with grandkids and family. Night fishing with underwater lights was a first. Beach 5 min away. Overall enjoyable. AC issue downstairs ...blowing hot air in bunk room. Ryason responded quickly with new cooling unit but since all windows do not open there was no where to run the exhaust hot air out except into the bathroom...not practicle or conveinent. Need hole thru wall made to run exhaust outside. Listing shows frig downstairs but it was not there and we had plans to use it. Disappointing. Since downstairs bunk room is isolated from upstairs with no interior access, adults are needed to stay in other downstairs bedroom to monitor kids at night. But that bedroom has 2 single beds where a queen would be more practicle and much more comfortable for monitoring adults. Storage cabinets in that bedroom above bed not that usefull and make room feel tight, smaller and more jammed up. Maybe remove. Overall, still a good time for the family getaway.

Great place to stay

We enjoyed a long weekend stay for the 4th of July. The covered area on the upper deck was a favorite hangout. Definitely recommend!

Lovely home. Some improvements could make it perfect!

This house is lovely and family friendly. We’d love to stay there again. Would have appreciated better kitchen tools like better pans, can openers that worked, basic bar tools, and not the bare minimum. No bath mats, and other small things were annoying. The goods outweigh the annoying though and we think a small family or a medium sized close group would find this place relaxing and fun! The air conditioning works and there are ceiling fans, also the master bed is very comfortable. We slept well and that is saying a lot for us. Never could figure out why it was so bright in the bedrooms at night but again it was comfy and cozy!!!!!

The property was perfect for a gathering. Lots of outdoor seating areas for visiting in smaller groups, and full kitchen a d grill for cooking. Nice quiet street and easy access to main part Of Galveston

The inside of the house was adorable and very clean (with the exception of the white dog hairs on the dark floor) but outside seemed to need a power washing. The check-in process seems outdated compared to other rental companies that I've used given that you actually have to go into the office to retrieve the keys and a 10 am checkout seems rather early. Overall, though, it was a nice house, management staff was helpful and friendly and so it was a good experience. Thanks.

Loved it!

This property was awesome. Quiet, relaxing, and plenty of room. The deck wrapped around the house and we enjoyed sitting out there each morning and evening. We enjoyed kayaking and catching some crabs off the deck. We rented a golf cart and took it down to the beach each day. The home was in a great location for this. Family of 7 and everyone had plenty of room. Very enjoyable stay.

Family vacation

This house is is a great location. It was clean and being on the canal was awesome. Kids could fish, swim and kayak. The bunk beds and two twins are downstairs with no inside access to upstairs which was a negative and there was a problem getting the upstairs door unlocked. It did take several calls and down time trying to get someone to help. But otherwise it was a relaxing vacation.
