HHI - Condo

The unit was pretty much as advertised. We enjoyed the sunrise and ocean views from the deck. We had our breakfasts there most mornings as well as afternoon cocktails and some sunset dinners. The outdoor furniture could be updated as it is not the most comfortable to spend longer times relaxing outdoors.

Beach access is great. Good rinse off area. I rarely, if ever heard any nbors through the walls. I felt safe in this facility with just me and 2 children. Cons are it wasn't cleaned well. Crumbs still on counter, furniture ledges amd counter ledges were full of crumbs and/ or sand and dust. Mirrors were spattered with water drip marks, the hall mirror so full of dried drip marks. Front door needs to be wiped down. I brought my keurig as I noticed they didn't have one, but I think they should have one as standard. Was not a single trash liner in kitchen trash, most places start you with one so I used grocery bags throughout my stay for trash. The hideabed was stiff to open up, struggled a little bit. Once I got it open, we left it open bc it was too difficult to do, so our already small living room became microsized with the bed open the whole time. It is a tiny condo even with just me and 2 elementary aged kids. Lastly, the check-in and checkout process is antiquated with having to drive to the office and pickup, or drop-off keys. Pool was closed for unknown reason half a day. All the cons were minor issues in the grand scheme of things and could be easily fixed by manager/owner. It was a wonderful vacation on the beach.

Bathroom at beach has no railing to hold onto to go down or come up out of "hole it is in. However, the bath at the beach is great to have. Unit was nicely appointed and clean. Great service from manager. We went to all our favorite restaurants and shopped at outlets.

The property is a 15-minute walk (by beach or sidewalk) to the Coligny Plaza for groceries, restaurants, gifts etc. The property is right on the beach, and this unit had a beautiful view of the ocean. The pool was a nice temperature. The unit itself had adequate facilities. Some repairs and updating are needed, but nothing that diminished our enjoyment of our holiday.

Great getaway location!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was VERY clean and the kitchen was VERY well stocked with all the supplies we needed for our stay. My mom uses a walker/wheelchair to get around. For the most part, we were able to get around easily, but the door to the bathroom was not wide enough to get her walker in the bathroom. While this is picky, the TV service was not very reliable. I am sure that it was partly user error, but there were times when the system simply would not work. A printed channel guide would help prevent having to channel up/down.From an overall property standpoint, this is a very convenient location. We have always loved staying on this part of the island. The walkway to the beach is a great asset that was much needed. I wish the property had a better way to get a wheelchair down to the pool area without having to go all the way around the building. The pathway alongside the building was rather narrow and we found ourselves in the bushes a few times.

Pros & Cons

My stay was OK, but I won't rent this unit again. That said, it could work for others. PROS - Location & view! Close to shops & restaurants, easy boardwalk stroll to the beach, pretty pool, and amazing views. The shower is large and has good water pressure. The bedroom mattress was reasonably comfy, maybe a medium firmness. The half-moon counter worked great as a dining area. I didn't see any bugs in the unit. There is no washer/dryer in the unit, but there are washer/dryers on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors. Vacation Time left of a lot of bath towels, which was handy. Check-in & out went smoothly and Vacation Time personnel were friendly. Plenty of parking. CONS - This building does not have central AC; instead, there is a wall-unit in the bedroom and in the living area. They both worked OK to keep the space cool, but the bedroom AC stayed on constantly to keep the room at around 73 degrees. It was loud and bothered my allergies, so I slept in the living area. The living area AC didn't bother me, but the pull-out couch wasn't comfy, despite the new-ish memory foam mattress. My back started to hurt after a few days. There is no vent fan in the bathroom, so taking a hot shower (even with the door open) makes the unit humid. There is a ceiling fan in the bathroom, but it needs to be replaced; it was starting to peel. The appliances in the kitchen worked, but the refrigerator didn't work as well as it should (my ice cream was more like soft serve, and I did check to make sure it was on the coldest setting.) The balcony has good space, but for some reason it is sloped a bit. It has an outdoor carpet, so I couldn't see what was causing this. I found this a bit concerning, but I didn't feel it moving, so I sat out there. I think they did a reasonable job cleaning between tenants, but it looks like this unit hasn't been deep cleaned in a while. There is a physical key to get into the unit, but then there is no additional deadbolt lock inside that isn't controlled by the key. There also isn't a peephole. Regarding the pool, I did notice it being cleaned routinely. However, my husband noticed a crack near the top of the pool that was wide enough where he could see the palm tree roots, and water was getting in the crack.

Conveniently Located Next to Grande Ocean

Reviewer Comments: We decided to come a week before our scheduled week at Grande Ocean but couldn’t get in there; but Ocean Dunes Next door had several units available that week instead. The unit had everything we needed and more! Appreciated the multiple sets of fresh towels. The row of hooks inside the front door made it so easy to keep track of jackets and hats. The granite half-moon counter was what sold us as we planned to work from our laptops that week and there was plenty of room for both of us. The 3rd floor oceanfront view was the real star of the show and helped us to feel like we were at the beach even while working. Our only wish was for a handle on the refrigerator door. Jimmy at Vacation Time was awesome to work with. Next time we have trouble getting in at Grande Ocean we will come to Ocean Dunes.
