Cottage on the lake--you can't get any closer!

Welcome to summer fun and relaxation for the entire family on Lake Skatutakee! Our family has been enjoying this "piece of heaven" for years and we hope you will too. Because the cottage literally overhangs the water, the view is amazing as it looks up the entire lake. Whether you are sitting on the dock, the firepit, the deck, or the screened-in porch, you will never be far from the peacefulness and beauty. Kids (and adults too) love swimming to the floating dock, paddleboarding, canoeing, and fishing. There are plenty of spaces to relax, grill some food, enjoy each other, and recharge.

Lake Skatutakee is located in Harrisville, NH which is a historic mill town. There's a cute general store, hiking, and many other lakes in the area. There's a ton of hiking in the Monadnock area Peterborough and Keene are the closest towns/cities with stores, restaurants, brewpubs, etc...Welcome to summer fun and relaxation for the entire family on Lake Skatutakee!

Our family has been enjoying this "piece of Heaven" for years and we hope you will too. The cottage literally overhangs the water and the view is amazing as it looks up the entire lake. Whether you are sitting on the dock, the firepit, the deck, or the screened-in porch, you will never be far from the peacefulness and beauty. Kids (and adults too) love swimming to the floating dock, paddleboarding, canoeing, and fishing. There are plenty of spaces to relax, enjoy each other, and recharge.

Property details:
Bedrooms: 3 bedroom—sleeps eight comfortably. Sheets are provided upon request
Bathroom: 1 full bathroom; newly renovated
Kitchen: plates, utensils, pots/pans provided. Basic condiments will be available as well as a coffee maker with filters (very important!)
Laundry: washer/dryer, soap packets
Internet/TV: wifi and single TV with amazon firestick
Outside cooking: Weber gas grill and charcoal grill. Weber smoker also available but please use only if you know how!
Outside activities: stand up paddleboard x 2, canoes x 2, assortment of life preservers, wood fire pit (wood available, but please don't drain the whole pile!)
Outside seating: screened in porch, deck, firepit area

Booking:
**Check In and Out on Saturday or Sunday only; would only would like to rent for full weeks (6 night minimum).
**We live on a quiet little street with very nice neighbors: please no big parties and no underage drinking

Friends getaway

We had a fantastic time. We thoroughly enjoyed the proximity to the lake, right on it! After full days of swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding we spent evenings around the fire pit roasting marshmallows. We only wish we were able to stay longer!

Right on the Lake!

We had a wonderful time at the Nelson cottage! We loved the outstanding view of the lake and the feeling of privacy. Swimming couldn’t have been better with crystal clear water and a sandy bottom off the dock. My husband tried out a paddle board and we even ran into loons as we canoed around the lake. The cottage was clean, the beds were comfortable, and everything you need in the kitchen was provided. The closets were organized with extra sheets and towels and we even found batteries for the remote! The house instructions left by the Nelsons were much appreciated. Our favorite time of the day was in the afternoon, dining out on the deck and watching some incredible sunsets. It was fun to watch the water skiers and party boats, yet it still felt like the lake was peaceful. We loved exploring Peterborough and found the food shopping easy and close by. We would definitely return to this beautiful area, and especially this great cottage on the water.

Fantastic Lakehouse!

We had an incredible stay at Amy and Eric's lakehouse in Harrisville! The cottage was fantastic, situated right on the water with the lake coming right up to the deck. It was the perfect spot for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, and the peacefulness of the lake made it even more enjoyable. We also loved using the BBQ—perfect for grilling up some great meals. Amy and Eric were amazing hosts—super responsive! We had a minor plumbing issue one morning, and they quickly organized a plumber to fix it the same day, which was much appreciated. The surrounding towns of Harrisville and Peterborough were so picturesque and charming, offering a lot to explore. We also ventured into Keene, where we enjoyed shopping in the town center. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and scenic getaway!

Great Lake House

This was a great lake house for a casual group! We had an awesome time at the house due to all the pros of this place and found the couple cons to not be a big deal. The Pros: - 2 canoes, 1 kayak, 2 paddle boards and a swimming dock made it so everyone could get out and enjoy the lake - great grill, outside seating and fire pit - great screened-in porch - the house is at the end of the lake so you get a good breeze which keeps the bugs away - it had plenty of dishes, pots/pans and cooking implements so its easy to have great meals on the deck - it had a dishwasher so meal clean up was easy - king and full sized bedrooms are separate and bunk bed room is by king bedroom so adults can spread out and if there were kids then they could be by parents - bathroom is updated - owner was very responsive for one minor issue/question we had about the grill - in a quiet area but close to great little towns for restaurants/breweries if you want Cons: - as with most lake houses they can be a bit musty especially if it has been rainy. This was the case when we first entered the house, but after opening the windows the air freshened quickly. However, the closets and bureaus did remain musty so we did not use them. - the kitchen cupboards could use a cleaning and organizing

Best spot ever!!!!

My husband and I stayed with our 4 boys aged 26, 18, 16 and 13. This house did not disappoint 🙌 We've been renting houses for vacation for 14 years and this house is my favorite. So much to do for the kids and adults!!! Besides the water being so close to jump right in you have access to canoes, paddleboards and a kayak!! Jumping off the floating deck was my favorite activity!! Would definitely recommend to families with kids all ages. Planning on booking again next year! Shoutout to the awesome neighbors! Thank you to Eric and Amy for opening up your beautiful home to us. Memories that will last a lifetime!!

Wonderful vacation at the Nelson Cottage!

Wonderful vacation at the Nelson Cottage! Closest spot on the water, ever experienced. Easy to jump in anytime! Awesome location, near historic Peterborough and Harrisville , perfect size lake for us, very comfortable beds, kitchen very well equipped and organized and enjoyable to work in, hiking trails close by, historic towns and area, was interesting and fun to visit. Most Gracious and thoughtful generous hosts! Thank you so much Eric and Amy !!! Hard to send a personal message through VRBO links, wouldn't go through on my text ... will keep trying.

We had a great stay at your wonderful home. Weather turned out to be perfect almost everyday. The lake was nice to swim and fish in. The local people were all so nice and the general store was a fav. Most wonderful stay ever!

When I stumbled on this cottage on-line, it seemed almost too good to be true: sure, beautiful cottage on the lake but having never used VRBO before and being Eric and Amy's first guest, I was a bit nervous. But boy, I won the lottery with this little slice of heaven! If you're looking for serenity, nature, small town wonder and the friendliest neighbors coupled with modern necessities (WIFI), this is your place to stay! To top it off, Eric and Amy are the kindest hosts ever! I had a few friends /family join me for the most relaxing and enjoyable stay ever! The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The beds are comfortable, bathroom and kitchen are great and location is incredible! Thank you, Eric and Amy! We will be back!!
