Winter months are perfect for hiking, bonfires and S'mores! Cozy new construction on your own creek, like glamping but with all the amenities! Minutes from wine trails, Giant City State Park, lakes and SIU! Open floor plan, gourmet kitchen, top of the line appliances, spa like bathroom, designer lighting. Oversized covered deck adds additional living and chilling space. Bedrooms include adjustable beds and dimmable touch lamps with charging stations. You may just want to stay on the property and chill! Check out the photos to see more! Read our reviews! So close to everything but so removed from the hustle and bustle! FYI, we have an exterior camera that monitors the driveway and steps leading to the home. Winter months are my personal favorite months for hiking and outdoor activities! Cool and crisp, the many rock formations are exposed and bonfires add the perfect ending to a day outdoors!

Home away from home

This is our second time staying here and we will always stay here when we come to visit if it's available. The setting is perfect and so are the accommodations. It just feels like home, only better!

Great cabin

What a wonderful place for a getaway. Beautiful cabin with everything you could ask for. Very quiet and peaceful, just what we needed. Would definitely stay again if we are ever back to the area. Great hosts and communication.

Beautiful, Relaxing Home

This retreat was absolutely lovely. We did not want to leave. Gorgeous decor, relaxing views on the deck, comfortable beds, everything you could need in the kitchen, and it just has a cozy feel. Next time I travel to Carbondale, I’ll be sure to stay here again!

Wonderful stay

The property was beautiful and exactly as described. We appreciated all of the thoughtful, detailed, and luxurious touches that the host has added. The location is fantastic, close to SIU and close to trails and natural beauty. The kids especially enjoyed the creek and fire pit on site! Thank you for having such a beautiful place where we could create family memories. We are already planning a return visit!

Great long weekend

My wife and I had a great long weekend here. The cabin was perfect for us. It was clean and in a wonderful location. It’s secluded but within east driving distance to the wineries and Giant City State Park. We are already discussing our next trip.

Cozy Hide Away in Shawnee

This VRBO was new and swaggy! The decorating was impeccable! I wish I had her taste! We came down for a tour of the Shawnee Wine Trail and do some hiking and this house is perfectly located in the center of it all. It is a hop skip and jump from Giant City State Park which has fabulous hiking and really close to Cobden and Makanda both adorable little towns. Blue Sky Winery was our favorite after visiting 4 of the local wineries. We also enjoyed her outdoor living space on the back patio listening to all the night creatures and having a fire. Everything was provided except food! This was the perfect place!

Beautiful Nature Retreat

Very impressed with this lovely house. The place was immaculate and had everything we could need. The view of the creek and forest were delightful. A perfect place to get away and relax while still being just a short drive from town. The host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. We had a great time.

Wonderful Stay!

Lovely home! We loved this property. The location was perfect for us. Quiet and peaceful with a beautiful porch facing the woods and a little creek. The home is spotless, well designed, and beautifully decorated. The host was super responsive and easy to work with when we wanted to extend a day on our stay. A great cabin for visiting the area, tucked away and private, but very close to wineries, recreation areas and SIU. Perfect for a romantic getaway, family trip or parents visiting students. The home is well stocked with all you could need. Will definitely stay again when we are visiting the area.

Beautiful Private Getaway

Wow! We absolutely loved our stay at Ann's cabin. Out-of-the way but a short drive to everything we wanted. The location was quiet and peaceful. The house was immaculate and tastefully well-appointed with beautiful art, upscale furniture and superb linens. The beds were comfortable and the internet was blazing fast. Definitely not your average cabin!! Our hostess was available with dining and sight-seeing tips. We have stayed at many VRBO properties and this is at the top of our favorites list.

New Year’s end get away

My husband and I lost one of our sons in 2019, and obviously the holidays are devastating. Each years end we try to find someplace to go to find peace and bring in another year. I found this cabin on VRBO last minute and luckily it was available. From the second we opened the door, I was impressed. I loved the decor, the furniture and towels and essentials left for us to use. The porch and fire pit area look wonderful and hopefully on our next stay the weather will allow us to enjoy them too.The property manager was very responsive and replied to my email quickly. The property was updated and very stylish, with decor and furniture for any interest.We will definitely be back soon!!Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us.

This cabin is beautifully decorated and supplied with everything we needed during our stay. A very well appointed home! The beds and main-room seating areas are comfortable, stacked with ample pillows and throws. We loved the ceiling fans and the smart TV, which allowed us to watch our favorite shows in the evening after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. And the Wifi gave us access to our emails, restaurant and hiking sites, and my online dance class.Laundry supplies are provided, and Ann has programmed the washer and dryer for easy and effective results. A well-organized kitchen with plenty of refrigerator and freezer space. The main room, with its vaulted ceiling, is is a joy to sit in, nicely divided into kitchen, eating, and living room space. High windows bring in in natural light all day. The room's chandelier is charming. And there's another chandelier in the bathroom, also fun.The cabin's location is peaceful and quiet, and we enjoyed the country seclusion and the sounds of crickets at night.Best of all, Ann is one of the best hosts we've had in our many years of renting VRBO propertiies. She is very prompt and helpful in responding to our messages and questions. She lives a short ways down the road, so we always felt we could reach out to her if we had any concerns. (We didn't have any!)Overall, our experience at Ann's cabin was a 10 out of 10. And Ann deserves her ranking as a premier host.

The cabin—really a guesthouse—is well-stocked and very comfortable: there are loads of blankets, pillows, coffee, spices, and cute decor. It was a great location for folks looking to explore the western portion of Shawnee Nat’l Forest, Shawnee Wine Trail wineries, state parks, & nearby towns. Ann was super responsive and offered helpful recommendations. Highly recommend.

We met in Southern Illinois and decided to return once we found this gorgeous and secluded property. Immediately upon moving, we began construction for our second property and it was finished in mid 2023. We couldn't be more pleased with the way it turned out. Intimate and cozy but feels spacious with 16 foot ceilings. We love sharing this magical property with our guests. It offers wildlife, many bird species and peace and quiet. Our creek runs directly behind the property and can be babbling or rushing depending on our rain.

What we love about this property is the quiet and peacefullness. We are truly alone, not a neighbor in sight, although we can be at the grocery store or Starbucks in 13 minutes. It truly is a staycation for us and we want to share it with our guests.

We have our own creek and we spared no expense in the design and materials of our property. With years of decorating experience, second hand shops and an eye for the unusual, our rental will feel like you're in a home with many special touches. Many items have been in our own homes throughout the years. Our location and proximity to hiking, boating, canoeing, kayaking, and town is unusual to find. That's why we live here.
